Don't forget lucoz4de if you allow her it J-M, my parents used to buy this for both my sister and I just to get energy into us when we were poorly and I still buy it for myself if I'm feeling ill.

Totally agree with everyone else Jakes-mum. Having sweet things when ill is the only upside to being sick! Tho tbh, I'm not convinced that having sweet / fatty food occasionally as part of a healthy diet (eg plenty of fresh fruit / veg and exercise too) is actually the end of the world.

  • If it's any consolation I bought not one, but TWO Kipling bags AND a purse this month. Just because I fancied it. (They weren't full price thankfully) I didn't even need them. And now we have no money for food. I am so stupid sometimes, but sometimes I just get in a grip of a fever for spending, especially when I haven't bought anything for ages.

Edit: Perhaps i need to allow myself a "pretty things" amount in the budget that I can save up for things like handbags and shoes?

Thanks. I know what you mean about getting in a grip of a fever for spending - that's what I had on Wednesday :o. We only have money for food by going more overdrawn  which is why I've got to pay it back from my 'pocket money'. That's what I'm supposed to use for 'pretty things' but somehow I blew all that and more. Still no use crying over split milk ;).

Dont beat yourself up, this is a learning curve, you cant expect to completely wipe out an adicting habit (and shopping is addictive) in one go, if your mate gave up smoking and after 3 months had a crafty one, you'd be impressed they went cold turkey for so long and firmly believe it was a stumble on their journey.

3 1/2 months is a long time to not buy ANY carp, and if your blip strengthens your resolve for the next 3 1/2 months well then its saved you money in the long run as thats 3 blips in 1 year rather than 52 (based on one shopping day a week ;)) I think everyone should have a litle 'emergency entertainment fund' (mine will be created next year) for that day when they are so fed up that nothing but a little shopping trip will do.

Oooo glad the datings going well, but dont rule out a bloke in a skirt too soon Jemma . . . theres something quite sexy about a bloke in a kilt . . . . :rotfl:

This, everyone should have one. It is part of my plan for next year, there will be a holiday fund, monthly 'our own' money for me and DH, and a monthly 'going out as a family' fund for a fancy it shop, or meal out or trip to a zoo etc.

It will happen, though DH laughed when I said about us each having a pocket money fund and asked whatid spend it on and i said 'i'd save it' :o

You are so right Jake's Mum - 3 and half months without spending on non-essentials [STRIKE]is unheard of [/STRIKE]is very good for me and if someone I knew had gone from spendthrift to spending once every 3 months, I'd be impressed. It's just frustrating sometimes though as I want to get rid of the debt! Trouble is both OH and I are both as bad as each other - in fact he's worse .

Hi all, for once not just here for the gossip! Have got a repayment to report so am now #319 £3109.95/£6109.94 which puts me 1p over 50% :j:j

This does mean that for the next week we have no money but it has just given me the most huge feeling of satisfaction it's worth it!

Mrs A,what about putting a few quid away each week into a treat fund? God knows we can't be good all the time. How dull would that be?

Kerri, f-bombs are what bad people like me constantly drop in conversation. Complete overuse of the f word. I blame my convent school upbringing!:D

Thanks - my 'pocket money' is supposed to be doing that and had been working up til now but I will go back to that when I've paid for my spending spree!

Mrs ATS, oh how many times have I fallen off the wagon? "ooh that's pretty"...."ooh I like that"...."oooh that would look nice xyz" etc etc. We fall off, but we get back on again, we're all dealing with our debts and if it takes us a day longer because we bought a chocolate bar to cheer ourselves up then so be it. I'd rather have the chocolate bar than feel miserable :) because I know that I'm less in debt now, than before I had my LBM :D

You are right - I am in less debt now and at least I'm learning to be careful :).

Good Morning everyone! Happy Friday

No payments to report yet but spent last night sorting my weekends plan of action, which is:

Change all copper in Tesco - I have a giant piggy bank thats been full for a while and i expect there to be around £40 in there. Does anyone know if the CoinStar machines take a percentage?

Sell old TV at Cash Converters - Bought a new one a few months ago so this has been gathering dust in the spare room. Its a small philips flat screen so hopefully get an ok amount...we will see.

Get an old phone ready to be sent off for recycling - website says i should get £90 and also have an old laptop to box ready to be sent for recycling, been quoted £55 for this.

Then off to the bank to pay all this off the credit card along with £100 from the DH overtime money. Cant wait to check in and say how much has been paid off (how sad am i lol).

If you get some free money bags from your bank and bag up the coppers you can get the cash without any cost - just thought I'd tell you in case the machine in Tescos does take commission.

thank you all for the well wishes to Miss Lily, shes currently fast asleep on the sofa after a pain v exhaustion battle. I know shes really feeling poorly as shes even refusing icecream :( Hopefully once she wakes up she will feel like trying one.

Didnt even occur to me to get some lucozade Kerri  will get some this evening/tomorrow (dependent on whether shes surgically attached to me or not) and give her a little glass. My mum used to do exactly the same, you got sick, you got lucozade and throat sweets . . . was the best part of being sick :D.

Havent even bothered to make her any dinner as I think it will be well beyond her tonight, am just going to take her lead, whatever she asks for I will make appear, though I think if she asks for anything its only going to be toast/icecream/biscuits (I gave her rich tea biscuits with butter on for lunch :o)

Will keep you all updated on her, but if you dont hear from me again tonight, you'll know its not going well

  • *Hugs* to you and Miss Lily, Jake's Mum. Hope you are both feeling better soon. It's horrible when your children are ill - you feel so helpless :(. The one good thing with children though is that they seem to bounce back really quickly.

  • After a very stressful day I have sat and relaxed by updating all my spreadsheets - something not quite right there - lol!

Happy to say that all the credit cards are paid off now and we just have the loan to pay off. Trying to gather cash up at the moment as the dollar rate is increasing - so the loan is costing less.

    Please update my numbers:
