Change all copper in Tesco - I have a giant piggy bank thats been full for a while and i expect there to be around £40 in there. Does anyone know if the CoinStar machines take a percentage? yes something like 7%!!! can you pay into an HSBC? Some of their branches have change machines for free.

Sell old TV at Cash Converters - Bought a new one a few months ago so this has been gathering dust in the spare room. Its a small philips flat screen so hopefully get an ok amount...we will see.

Get an old phone ready to be sent off for recycling - website says i should get £90 and also have an old laptop to box ready to be sent for recycling, been quoted £55 for this. can you sell the phone or tv through ebay or preloved? probably get more for them if you can be bothered :)

Reccurent Ostrich I spent £175 a couple of weeks ago on my mates digital SLR and that was without even seeing it!

  • Coinstar do take a percent, one of the best tips I heard was to pay for your shopping on the self service till and tip it all in there. Gets rid of your change and pays for your shopping out of it win/win :)

Well done on sorting things :)

Although in sainsburys the machine takes forever... I didn't realise my coins were piling up in the 'rejected' coins bit... Whoops. Either go in at a quiet time, or make sure you aren't easily embarassed :o

You do have to have an account with them I think... I actually opened a basic account with them in order to use it, and I haven't been able to use one yet!

Going to look for a list of HSBC's with a coin machine now...thanks for that!

I sold a phone on ebay last year and to be honest it was more hassle than it was worth, probably just because it was an awkward buyer and i was unlucky. I'm happy to get a little less and get the money quickly to pay towards the ccard then i can move on to selling something else lol.

    Thanks psychopathbabble!

Arg! Just had a massive panic attack - I forgot to cancel my Amaz0n prime membership after the free trial, and they took £49 from my debit card :eek::eek:! Fortunately it didn't take me over my limit (by £9.50). Off to see if I can get any money back if I cancel.

And catch up on the thread, haven't read in ages!

Oooooo scottish? :p Im actually more of an accent girl, My DH is Welsh and I have to say im totally in love with his accent, its no-where near as pronounced as it was as he's lived in England for 15 years now, but when he gets a cob on or we go to visit his parents it comes out in force!

I will admit that sometimes I pick a fight just to hear the welsh tones come out as hes shouting :shhh: :rotfl:

Id just go to the bank and ask for coin bags and count them up, and then take them in with the CC bill to pay. My barclays will accept as many bags of coins as you can carry to pay off a bill if they are bagged up correctly.

Been back to the doctors today about this god forsaken ear infection :( Dr went and got another Dr for a second opinion and the mean so and so stuck a swab in there  pain much?!?!?! but supposedly sending off my waxy icky swab will tell them exactly what type of infection it is so they can give me the right antibiotics to make it go away.

Until then I have ANOTHER bottle of ear drops at the princely sum of £7.65 to stick in there until the results come back on wednesday.

So better stock up on more pain killers for bedtime as I dont think I have enough to last till then :(
