Next month, if all goes well, my debt should go below the 40K threshhold.
What an amazing milestone that will be, under 40k!!! I've been there hun so I know how much these goals can be. Keep it up hun and I'm glad you had a great holiday, you deserved it xxxminicooper272 wrote: »My mum always told me, whenever you get a pay rise, put half the difference into savings - you will notice that you're better off, but your savings will benefit the most! I'm definitely following this when my debts are clear!
I love this piece of advice and will definitely be using it once all my debts are gone (well, I also have to get a pay rise too...! :rotfl:)Canucksfan wrote: »Hi All
How's it all going with you this week? Tomorrow is my first day on my new job. It is not a promotion, more a sideways move...but I will be closer to home. Next week will be orientation. I'll keep you posted! :happyhear
Canucksfan#249-another $600 paid off: $11900/$17418.95
You are absolutely STEAMING through this challenge!!! Congrats on getting your new job hun, being closer to home will be fab. Definitely let us know how you get on with the orientation (although I read this as orienteering and wondering what job would require you to go running through hills with a compass and a map searching for clues... :rotfl:New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Have you heard back from your interview hun? xxxmumof3plusoh wrote: »Happy birthday ruth:bdaycake:
Absolutely, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY RUTH!!! :bdaycake:Doesn't time fly by, I posted on 31 March just before I went on holiday and all of a sudden we have a new thread and it is already 20 odd pages long another thing we all must have in common apart from our debts is we all like to talk :rotfl:
This is the first chance I have had to catch up and get anywhere near my computer since I came back. Anyway Jemma I had a fab holiday a few days away to London only just managed to bring myself to check the bank balance to see what the damage was, but hey ho we had a great time. I am at least back on the wagon and will minimise my spends now !!!
Back to trying to cut down, already changed my utilities, my car insurance and thinking about cancelling sky. How long would I have to wait to phone back for a better offer as I am paying full price for everything just now. Also going to look at life insurance this week to see if I can get that down a bit.
I have also cleared off a few of my creditors so I am going to start snowballing next month :T
Managed to shop at Lidl on my way home so my grocery spend hasn't been as bad the last couple of weeks, I just hope I can stick to it.
Here is my update for today, I have spent a bit on the cc while away but I am not going to add this to my debt as I have some OT money in my next wage which I will use it to pay this. I have paid off £377.57 today bring my new total to:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :bdaycake:
I used all my Xmas money last year on paying off debts so I know how it feels. I just felt that I didn't need or want anything as much as being debt free xxx:eek::eek: Oh Jemma, that's just awful!:eek: Definitely something to ignore. Get your mind back on the (hopefully) handsome stranger.
Well, I have more finishing on fleabay tonight, all with bids, then more again on Sunday. Got a huge pile for carbooting too. Hoping to make a payment to card on fri even if it's only a fiver!:D
Wow you guys are all doing fantastically well on fleabay and making me feel very ashamedalthough I went out for exercise and food tonight. Don't worry, I was more humiliated by the comment rather than hurt because I felt it was true. I'm definitely hoping that this handsome stranger will turn out to be nice and I can at least enjoy an evening out in good company. If nothing happens after that then at least it was a lovely time out xxx

They want to charge £140 for cleaning carpets too, which was done by housemates mum as she has a steam cleaner. I think they have 10 days to respond to me, after which I can go to dispute service if not satisfactorily. I've asked for the photos as stated on check out inventory and asked for evidence that the whole thing needed replacing as I'm pretty sure the 'damage' would be considered wear and tear by anyone else. The most annoying thing is I've got an assignment to write by tonight so now i can't concentrate on it as I'm so mad and wound up!
AND BREATHE.................
Don't get me started, I started getting red in the face too when I read all your posts on this :mad::mad: Just another example of companies trying to fleece the little people again when they are diligent and honest people.:mad::mad:New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Hi there Everyone! :j
Silly work has goten in the way of me keeping up-to-date with all my DFW friends. There's loads to catch up on...just got to the good bit where Kerri visited her gorgeous nephew (10 weeks ALREADY?) and am mentally planning a shopping list to meet the requirement of Five a Day for my gang of vultures. As soon as I fill the fruit bowl up, they come and hoover it all up, then eat second portions for their dinner...I am so jealous of their metabolism! How long is it til OH returns? Any chance you could get a Bucketshop standby flight and visit him for a week? Ruthy, I haven't succeeded in completing any of the mini challenges yet! I start off full of enthusiasm, then life gets in the way
Jakes-Mum enjoy your time by the seaside. You so deserve the break! I've been to Skeggie Butlins three times and I loved it...you couldn't get me off the dance floor of the toddler's disco! Glad your social life is so good Antonia !!!
Psycho, Im snapping at your heels trying to keep up with you as we both try to wipe out this nasty debt! Fallen, hope your DH is feeling better. At the hospital we usually prescribe fluids, fibre and exercise, along with aperients for this type of problem, but your DHs case sounds as if it needs a second (or third or fourth!) opinion..poor guy! We liked TinTin too Spag...it stopped the children wailing for The Hunger Games for 5 mins ("you're so old-fashioned Mum not letting us go to see it, everyone in the school has seen it except for us etc etc"). NCT Mum, I laughed at your DD's sweater- I've been married for >10 years and DH has JUST received his first sweater off me...which was started just after we met! Oooh Jemma, can't wait to hear about the new people you will meet through the Net. So many of my girlfriends have met their lifepartner online. I am saving up for a trip to UK in June 2013; if you could arrange the wedding for around then, I would love to come!:T Anne, good luck with getting the DLA raised! Hope you get plenty of freelance Super - I have eased up on that as I am getting a bit tired! DH has been picking up the slack, which has been lovely! Enjoy payday Loubie!
How is the new job going rjh? It always takes me a while to settle in to something new. I really miss the gang I used to work with, but I'm sure I'll find another buddy at the new place! Nice to meet you Avogirly! To the others, it was lovely reading all about your interesting lives!
Ta ra for now! xox'You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave!' Dave Ramsey0 -
Hello Avogirly, I forgot to actually say hello in my excitement about knickers hahaa, so welcome
Another that pays £1 off to accountslove it. I'm sure it costs them more to process the payment than that wohahaha
That's ok!
I hope you don't mind, but I have copied you (not the knickers thing) by paying a £1 off my Next card each day. Well today I'm actually going to pay £8 of the beauties off it!October make £10/day currently £11.020 -
Hi Canucksfan,
I know what you mean about the freelance work tiring you out.... it seems that some nights I just can't get going and end up taking twice as long to do something that should only take a short while.
And some nights like last night I just think sod it and plonk myself in front of the TV for some football!
poohspals - The most difficult thing I found when paying off my credit cards is trying not to sound smug when on the phone to the card company - "no, I simply don't see a need to use it anymore".
All the best guys and gals, hope your respective Thursdays go well.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Thanks Canucksfan the consultant said he would hate him for a month or so but poor OH doesn't have it in him to hate people and is so blaming himself. I'm making sure he's eating lots, trying to get veggies in him where I can or at least switch to more fibrey options.
I just got word I have two meetings which are going to run past 8pm next weekLooks like I'll either be coming in late or bringing lots of food to work those days, at least I won't be spending.
My uterus is hating me today and I managed to leave all my painkillers at home as OH needs them. Well done me. Also my manager is back at work for the first time in almost 3 weeks. Fab times!
Have a good day everyone.HSBC CC - £3000 / £3000
