But really I've come on here for a bit of supportI had urgent blood tests last Tues checking for Ovarian cancer (ca 125) etc and I still haven't got the results, I've also got an ultrasound scan on Wednesday and I'm soooo scared. Has anyone else been through this?
DH knows but I can't talk to anyone else.
Awww Lemon, I'm sorry but I've not. My friend and my sister has though and it turned out that they were both fine in the end, non cancerous cells. Did they give amy indication as to when you'd get the results back? I'll be keeping everything crossed for you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Hello
I've been off work for a week so haven't checked in for a while. Looks like there's been lots of good news. Well done to all that are still working away at those debts
DH finally received his HMRC cheque. It was £300 less that expected so I guess he must have underpaid through his PAYE in other ways (probably in relation to tips/mid-year payrise). Unfortunatlely (sort of!) we used a chunk of the money this week to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner and b&b stay, plus the car needed service, tax, MOT and new tyres all at onceI ususally have this staggered but just got a bit out of hand and there wasn't enough in the car pot to cover is (about £160 short
)
He also went overdrawn (i.e. over the overdraft) again this month. I tried to talk to him and as usual he just wouldn't engage and  started playing with his phone. I went to bed in a mood and then got really upset when he decided to put the washing machine on (ok - normally a good thing but it was 1am!!) Next afternoon (didn't see him in the morning as was up early to go out) he apologised for keeping me up and I plucked up the courage to confront him and say that it wasn't the washing that I was upset about but the fact that he doesn't seem to acknowledge how hard I work at managing our finances and what trouble it causes every time I have to juggle things to subsidise his overspends, and how it's extra frustrating that he doesn't even seem to know what he spends the money on!!
BUT...
He listened, acknowledged and apologised :j:A I'm so proud of him for taking that step at least. I don't think it's quite his LBM but I thanked him for engaging in the conversation and am hoping that he might start to pay a bit more attention in the future (fingers crossed!!!)
Anyway, I will shortly be checking accounts and spreadsheets to see the damage that a week off has done and will update shortly.

Hi Helenpie, meant to reply to you aswell but I missed you off my multiquote. I am glad that you are making some headway with the OH, I am him in my relationship, the one who is bad with money. My OH is excellent and I know what a pain I can be. It took me a while to mend my ways and I still have the odd blip so here's hoping that this is the start of your OH mending his ways tooDon't turn a slip up into a give up

Sorry not been on here for a few days, busy with work and stuff...just been catching up now.
Parsnip, well done on all that PPI! :jI would pay it all off and save up for the windows. Don't be tempted!!
mfou sorry to hear you are having a wobble, as you know I am the queen of those so huge hugs and just wanted to say you are a huge inspiration to me every time I see your sig figs and you WILL get there very soon :T
Lemonpop: I haven't had the tests done but I do measure them at work...have you had them done through your GP or a hospital doctor? They should have been measured by now (most labs would do them the same day) but the lab won't give you the results if you call in, they need to be given to you by the requesting doctor. The lab should tell you if the results out and sent to the doctor though. Then phone your GP or the hospital doc secretary and ask for the results. I've got everything crossed for you

I sympathise hugely Helenpie. My DH is a nightmare with money, to be honest the reason we are in so much debt is I let him have financial independence despite the warning signs! The only reason we are paying so much off now (and are still together quite frankly! :rotfl:) is that I insisted on having all his cards, online banking log-ins, access to all statements etc. and now I sort it all out. He hated it at first and part of me would love to be with a man that "got" finances but he is pretty wonderful in most other ways so we've just accepted that this is how we have to do things. We now play to our strengths. My advice would be to keep an eye on things without appearing too bossy and nip things in the bud before they get too bad. It's promising he apologised, my DH took about 5 years to acknowledge he was crap with money!DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Sorry for hogging the board this morning but I'd like to have a rant now...Natwe$t overdrafts are a proper faff to reduce. I applied for a reduction online about 3 weeks ago!!! Then they had to send me a form, I had to sign and send it back and now they have reduced it 3 weeks later! $antander was just a click online and it was done. Why on earth can't a huge bank like NW have a simple system like that?! Grrr
I want to reduce it again but think it will drive me insane to go through that palaver every week to reduce it by £50...and that is not how I should be thinking!!DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Thinking of you Lemon, my fingers are firmly crossed! xx
Hugs to Jemma, sorry you are feeling so down at the moment. Hope you start to feel more positive soon.
Well done to everyone still paying off their debt! I'm still hovering around the same figure, and as for OH's... Mine moans that he doesn't have enough of it, insists he wants to straighten his finances out so I did a whole budget for him and then he goes and carries on blowing money! Yes, he is spending less than he used to but he is still spending more than his income (he was transferring money from his house deposit every month to cover the shortfall)! I was very brave today, I gave my credit card to my OH and told him to hide it before the limit increases and I spend it all. He did ask why I didn't just ask them to not increase it, but I like the idea of it being a safety net incase we ever need to buy anything expensive on the internet.
Darn it! I had a letter saying my bank was increasing my CC limit by £1500 and meant to ring up to say no :mad:Thanks Canucksfan, it really does feel like the end although we haven't admitted it yet... I can't imagine that we'll stay together although I really want to. It's only a year since we moved in together, we were together for 5 or so years before that. I really thought it was for forever... strange how so much can change in a year!
I realised I made a mistake in my totals though as I need to save £100 for Christmas presents, so:

Well done all on the last push before xmas!!
Hugs to you, it's a difficult place to be
Hugs to lemon too, fingers crossed you get positive results xxx
Enjoyed my weekend away but have spent far too much money. Bought a few Xmas pressies AND didn't use CC. Will have to take some money out of the holiday fund though as it's left me really short and I've a few DDs to go out yet but it's good to know I don't need to use the CC.0 -
