Sorry for hogging the board this morning but I'd like to have a rant now...Natwe$t overdrafts are a proper faff to reduce. I applied for a reduction online about 3 weeks ago!!! Then they had to send me a form, I had to sign and send it back and now they have reduced it 3 weeks later! $antander was just a click online and it was done. Why on earth can't a huge bank like NW have a simple system like that?! Grrr

I want to reduce it again but think it will drive me insane to go through that palaver every week to reduce it by £50...and that is not how I should be thinking!!

Oh that is really silly and faffy. Is there not a way you can go into branch and do it? Seems so stupid that they would have it that way but then again it doesn't surprise me.

Suzitiger, I phoned up NW to see if I could do it over the phone and they said they would have to do the same as me, apply online and send me the paperwork. For some reason it's as if I'm applying for a new OD at a lower amount rather than just reducing it. I was terrified that they would just say no and call in the whole OD but man on the phone told me they are responsible lenders so that wouldn't happen.

Ok, whatever you say NW man! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • We've had a buy now pay later deal from Very from last year that was due next month. We didn't have the money to pay it, so was considering just letting it go to monthly payments, but yesterday looked at the paperwork and realised the interest rate is 34-odd% and that the day it went overdue, they would be whacking £250 interest on it as it accrues during the year and unless you clear it the day it falls due, not only do they start to charge interest, but add the year's worth.
So I've raided the money from the holiday fund and paid it. Shall have to sell like mad on Ebay to recoup the money, but I'm paying enough interest already, and REFUSE to pay yet more.

Unfortunately hubby's been too much of a happy shopper when it comes to BNPL on littlewoods who I think are the same company as very. We've just paid off one for £400 and I think another is due in December but I don't think we're going to have the money for it :( It's very cheeky adding a years worth of interest in one go, especially as you could pay it off before the year is up!

A couple off DD have gone out for November already, so I have a new update:

Well done recurrent ostrich!! I love it that we all seem to think like this now rather than buy now pay later (which seemed to be the religion in our house, worship the god of never-never :rotfl:) you have made the right decision, well done :T:T You might have to change your name!

I have had a mini-challenge with myself starting this month to make an extra £1k in income. I have done some paid admin work for a friend with their own business and sold on ebay and FB to make just shy of £600 this month :j Nowhere near my target but still not to be sniffed at....that will pay for xmas! :j

Choclover I'm shocked by how cheeky that is of Very and the other companies. I thought the banks were bad enough but that interest rate is huge. Can you get selling on ebay or FB old toys from the kids, I've been doing that and whilst it is a bit sad to sell them (and infuriatingly they see them by the front door waiting to be picked up and then want to play with them even though they've dismissed them as babyish for years!!) I have made room and money for new xmas pressies. Also home bits go well like candle holders etc.

Oh and well done for your totals choclover :)
