Hope your results are good Lemonpopsicle X

Well done to all those still hammering away at the debts.

I have had a major blip and am off work with stress. Not at all sure what the future holds now. Trying to sort myself out so I can go back but can't face any thought of it at the moment. Wish I could think of something else to do but a recession is not the best time for fresh starts.

    Arrrgh....

So annoyed. I wanted to make an overpayment to my loan today which would leave just a little in my account so that my final payment could be taken automatically next week... so:

    1. The guy on the phone didn't seem to understand that there would be interest due so simply taking my normal monthly payment from the outstanding balance would leave too much after interest for my normal payment to cover, IYSWIM. He kept saying "but the interest comes out of your normal payment" No it doesn't!!! It's added to the loan balance. Grrr.

On hold for 5 mins then he comes back and says, "oh, you're right, there's interest due tonight. It's already been processed and you should see it tomorrow." But he couldn't say how much.

    Then:

    2. Even though there's a week until my next payment and if I wanted not to pay off the loan but make an overpayment and keep the term the same, the system would adjust my loan payment, this would happen but he says not so that if I leave less than my monthly payment in there now, then I would end up overpaying and have to claim my money back.

Basically, it's a load of b*****ks. I've made so many overpayments and it's no different so I don't get the problem.

In the end I've had to agree to call back tomorrow to make the payment once the most recent interest payment has come out (and hopefully to speak to someone who actually understands how loans, interest and direct debits work :mad::mad:)

I really wanted to make a payment today :( !!!!

    Ah well.
Being pre-emptive, my totals by the end of next week should be up to about 40% :D and I'm still well on track for a DFD at the end of February :j

Edit: forgot to mention that that loan is the last of my interest-bearing debt and so next week I'm on 0% until DFD :j:j

Just don't try and reduce an overdraft! :rotfl: (see my rant a few pages ago) I wonder why they've gone all rubbish lately, I've always found them ok in the past too.

I saw. What a faff! I reduced my overdraft with them about 2-3 years ago from £1500 to £150 in branch when I took out my loan and it was really easy. I've no idea why they would have changed things...
