    Hi everyone!

I'm chuffed because I think I'm going to be able to bring my debt free day forward 4 months to end of Dec 2012.

Work decided to pay out bonuses so I've had around £2K after tax extra to pay off my debt this month. Added to normal repayments that means I've paid £1213 off my overdraft which brings me back into credit on that account for the first time in around 8 years and have also paid £1315 to my CC. Also made £100 payment to my work loan.

I am not sure if i'll definitely be debt free by end of Dec as unfortunately me and the OH are not going to be living together anymore after the next 5 weeks so my outgoings will probably increase as I'll have to find a shared house or something, but that's certainly my target!!

    Evening all

An extra update from me which I wasn't expecting to make.

I applied for PPI from b4rclays on a couple of massive loans I had quite a few years ago and got it - woo hooAnyway there was an amount outstanding on the final loan and part of the award was used to clear it. I would have used it to do this anyway.

So today £10484.81 was paid off taking the balance on the loan to nil:j:j:j

    #103 - 14252/19000 75.01%

I still have a cheque for the remainder of the award but want to sit on it while I decide what to do. If I used it to pay off debts it would take me to 93% paid off but we only have single glazing and the house is freezing in the winter. I never thought having a bit of money would cause problems.

I was so worried to claim, but I worry over everything. I'm so glad I did.

Thanks to everyone on here as reading this thread gave me the courage to do it.

  • Hi J-M ... Enjoy your pampering-you deserve it! Can't believe how far you have come in clearing your debts, in what has been a tough year for you! I now have my date for my C Section and am going to go for my annual shearing of my fleece on the day before, so hopefully they cut most of the grey out when all the photos are taken!
Sorry to hear about the end of your relationship Shrewbie-hope you will be ok.
Parsnip, well done on the PPI Claim. Sounds like you have some decisions to make. I keep reading about the bad weather and snow(!) in some parts of the UK. It would be lovely to wipe out the debt, but can u put up with another cold winter!
Well done to everyone on the paying off the debts-keep at it, you're doing GREAT!

  • Arrrrgh! Fed up. Money is really tight this month, as usual and I have a number of Xmas pressies to buy and at the moment will be buying them from thin air. We're trying to sell DH#'s car as well, which will clear a small amount off our debt, but we're not having any luck. It's on Ebay classifieds on "best offer" and have only had two offers that were for less than half of what we want for it. Very frustrating. I know our debt is our own fault, but it's miserable seeing all our money go out every month on clearing debts and household bills and not having even £1 spare for treats. Anyway, whinge over, it's great to see so many of you nearing the end of the challenge and clearing your debts -just hope a few of you will stick around next year.

This made me chuckle! Desperately need to get my mop chopped to - good luck for the c section.

This one's a toughie, but if it was me I think I would treat myself a little, pay the rest of the money off our debts and put up the windows, especially if it would take to me around 93%. And then once everything was paid off the windows would be the first thing on my mind.

I'm in it for the long haul, I think I've been over optimistic about our DFD especially as our spending habits are still a bit hit and miss :o

Well I weighed myself the other day and I've lost 3 kilos! I can't believe it, I've not really been trying too hard, just eating smaller slightly smaller sized meals, going down to 1 sugar in my tea and switching to semi skimmed milk. However, I've really pigged out this weekend so I hope I haven't put it all back on.

Oh I do have an update to make, but will wait until tomorrow as I think something else comes out.

Well we have returned from Bonny Scotland and frig me was it cold! We got there, and trundled up to Fort George for our audio tour (fantastic place BTW) and had to give up after 40 mins as it started to snow  and not your average light sprinkling you get in cambridge, but a bog off and get in your car or we are burying you, blizzard  My hands were completely blue by the time we got back to the car :o.
We also had a trek round the lock, and for those of you that were wondering, Nessie is real! Lily brought *her* (as lily has decided she is a girl called TOm) home and she cost us the princely sum of £8 :rotfl:. I managed to convince her she didnt want the musical one with bagpipes for £10 by pointing out that there would then be no pennies for sweeties :D

Hey everyone! Well done on all your payments and especially Parsnip for that whopping ppi rebate!!!

I've been so fed up in the last week or so. My job gets ridiculously busy Oct-Dec and this year is no exception! This week is going to be horrendous... Plus, joining the gym has been laughable. Since I joined I've been dizzy or had a horrid cold or recently I've been feeling sick with a dodgy tummy. Not amused after all the money I've paid and now it's only 6 weeks from my xmas do... I'm just fed up to be honest. I want to get out of my parents house but it will take at least another 12-18months...

Jemma, get out of your pity pit!!!!! New week, new start! My one goal this week is to be more positive xxx Sorry everyone, I tend to just dissappear when I'm feeling down xxx
