I agree Bonglecat, you don't need your teeth whitened at all. Also I've only ever had false nails put on once for a holiday and they came straight off in the heat :( Very sad and would have been a waste of money but it had been a Christmas voucher. I felt more sad that was wasted I think.

Why don't you add up how much maintenance costs the teeth whitening would be (you can never just have it done once) and you'll be scared at the total.

  • Glad to hear the doctors are happy with your results, Jemma

Thank you Superheavy and nctmum I'm not entirely sure what I will do yet. Maybe teach (secondary school maths: something I always wanted to do but not feasible beacuse of the debts) but I'm very aware that it's a stressful job and wondering if I should set my sights a bit lower :rotfl:
A couple of weeks ago I told you that my DH had had a LBM and is leaving his Visa card at home. Just to let you know that so far it's remained at home and no money spent - hooray! Long may it last!

Great news - if you can figure out how you got him there, please share!! I'm sure my OH is getting worse (I'm hoping that it's because I'm getting better and it seems worse relatively :p) :D

I got enrolled on a GTP for teaching secondary school maths but I just couldn't take the pay cut with having such huge debts. My sister is a primary school teacher and has NO life whatsoever with how much work she has to do, might just be because she's an NQT!

Maybe get a job to pay the bills and supplement it with private tuition? You can probably fulfill the full spectrum from primary sats at the way to A-level and pick and choose how much you want to work?

Whatever you decide, make sure that you do what is best for you. I never want to get to the end and think "I wish I'd...."

I didn't get false nails, as I have good nails anyway, just gel painted on so that the varnish doesn't chip whilst I'm away. But still a lot more expensive than popping a bottle of varnish and a bottle of remover in my case :o

But good point on the maintenance. Bad Bonglecat Bad!!! :naughty:

  • Must stop burying my head in the sand atm. Got back from hols, and had a rough idea what my bank balance would be, but didn't want to check it in case it was worse than I thought. Checked it today, and it was right where I thought it would be, so don't know why I was worried!

I won't be making any new payments until the end of the month now, if I have anything left over (which I'll be trying my hardest to make sure I do!)
  • Thank god it's payday! I've had a bit of money for a few hours at least! This debt busting is sooooo much harder than I thought it would be :-( Not paying off anywhere near as much as I thought I would each month but at least it's going down and not up! Being part of this thread is MAKING me pay it off, so thank you everybody ;)

  • Hi All,

I would love to take part in this challenge-for part of my debt anyway.

I have recently gone back to work after staying at home with my four year old DD. I am a single parent and I am determined to get back on my own two feet.

I hate the weight of debt on my shoulders and can't wait to be rid of it.

When I accomplish that, my main goal is to stop throwing money down the drain on rent and have a little home of our own, for my little family of two :) Ps- Naive I Know!! lol
OUT OF DEBT since 05/05/13!!!! Whoop Whoop!!! :T
Goals = Learn to live a happy, frugal life / Offer accepted.....fingers crossed Feb 2014:j
