We use a dehumidifier in our flat when we have washing hanging up. It's plugged straight into economy 7 so will only come on during the cheap period at night. Has made a huge difference though and washing dries in one night. And no more moldy patches either.

I'm getting really frustrated as it seems ages since I've been able to make a payment and still nearly 2 weeks to go :(

At least it means I must be in the right mindset to do this ;)

So, in considering my career options, I've realised that I really don't want to continue working in the City. I am putting together a 2-3 year plan to get out and do something more fulfilling (and hopefully less stressful!) That will mean a significant income drop whatever I decide, which makes getting our debts clear and starting to really build a savings pot even more important. I'm so lucky that my husband and family (that I've told so far) are completely behind me but it's such a scary decision. I'm not really a money/"stuff"-orientated person (just a bit rubbish with it :o) so I won't mind not having much disposable income in that respect, but I do like security and that is something that will change dramatically.

Anyway, I just thought I'd put that out there! I'm a big believer in the fact that getting these things out and public helps in their realisation, so fingers crossed :D I'll be joining in the savers challenge once the debts are gone, I guess :cool:

P.S Still feeling miserable that I can't make a payment for two weeks :p:p

Good on you, I feel the same, but my husband is obviously worried about my salary dropping - I work for a credit card company, relatively senior, but sometimes it just makes me miserable. Trying to work out if I have any skills that I could apply somewhere else

Let us know if you make the leap!

Hey everyone, my blood tests were ok, she's obviously done them a million times cos she was a pro and found a vein straight away. Pretty surprised that I got the result today and the good news is that they are all satisfactory. It turns out I had heat exhaustion on Sunday... Oops! Jemma needs to drink more and not run in full sun in 24degs heat and train for the race instead of just winging it!

Just seen a few photos on the official photographers website from the race and I'm appalled at how big I look! Honestly, I felt like the moment in friends when Chandler says "How many cameras were on you!!!!" I guess you don't really see it properly in the mirror but photographs don't lie... I've now put the worst of the photos as my phone wallpaper so that everytime I want a chocolate bar/chip butty/takeaway, I can look at my phone and reach for an apple instead. Tomorrow's going to be tough cos I'm off out with work for a curry and drinks. I'm driving so that will cut down the alcohol and will go for a non-creamy curry with boiled rice. I need to promise myself to eat a small portion! I've got my 1 hours free personal training session on Tuesday, my friend Vicky had hers yesterday and she's been walking like John Wayne all day struggling up and down the stairs... Scared!!!

    On debt busting front...erm...well...erm...

Anyway! It sounds like you're all having fun with your OH's and kiddies!

    Jakes-mum, I'm sure he'll quickly give up!

Fallenwiccan, hope the dehumidifier works, damp is awful and be bad for your health

Pyschopathbabble, congrats on the weightloss, very jealous!

nctmum, I still drool over your avatar!

Kerfuffle, I'm so relieved that your daughter and grandchild are ok x

Canucksfan, please be careful with doing so much overtime!!!!!!!

  • Good news Jemma, I remember trying to do a full day's walk on one litre of water in similar weather. I just felt weak and I had a stinking headache too.

Helenpie - I tend to agree with you when it comes to stress at work, I'm going to be moving back to my old job in the next month or two, because a lower salary for an easier life is a trade I can deal with. Now that I'll be debt free, it'll be much better on the whole for me.
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.

Jemma - glad to hear blood was ok. I was wondering if it was more related to the exercise itself... I'm kind of in a similar boat. I have my first half mara coming up at the end of the month and I haven't really done as much training as I should've. Cycling trip helped a lot though and I've felt a lot stronger after that. Uphills aren't such a problem anymore. However, I've adjusted my likely finish time and now I'm not that bothered about it anymore. I just want to finish it and feel good.

One good tip I'd say, if you feel really sore after exercise, take a cold bath, really does the trick. I ran 8.5 miles last Friday and my quads were absolutely killing me and I had a 80 mile cycle the next day. Never tried the cold bath before but sat there 10mins (with a fleece and a hat), then stretched, then had a little walk to the shops, then rubbed some tiger balm on quads before going to bed and the next day was like I hadn't run at all.

Pay day today. I'm still working out how much I'm going to pay so will update on that later.

Really glad the tests went well and you know why you were feeling so bad. The dehumidifier is working pretty well so I'm definitely going to look at getting our own one as it doesn't seem to use much energy and pulled loads of water out the air.
The bank have finally put my mortgage on my online banking so I've updated my sig, I'm trying to work out if I want to do lump sum payments or say £50-100 a month extra on top and just knock it down bit by bit. We'll have to see, I need to work on my emergency fund first and then do it. Thankfully I just got a pay rise at work so when the OH loses his job soon (redundancy) we can afford to pay all the bills on my wage whilst he gets a new job. There may even be money aside to boost the emergency fund if I'm good with the shopping.:j

  • Hi everyone - not had working computer for a few days but I've managed to persuade eldest DS to lend me his today (with promise that I wouldn't look at any of his files lol) so I can catch up.

Hope you are all OK. Glad BT results were OK Jemma :).

A couple of weeks ago I told you that my DH had had a LBM and is leaving his Visa card at home. Just to let you know that so far it's remained at home and no money spent - hooray! Long may it last!

  • Help!!!! I need a serious talking to.

Yesterday I went to my local salon and got Gel overlays on my nails and toes for my holiday (special offer £30 for both), I got chatting to the girl doing them. We got onto the subject of teeth whitening apparently the dentist next door does it for £80. She'd had it done and I must say her teeth looked lovely. Mine aren't actually yellow just not as white as they could be. If they had still been open when I left the salon I would have got straight in and booked Aaarrgghh!!! Last night I was trying to figure out how I could get it done and even considered paying on my credit card for petes sake!!!

Please someone talk me out of this madness!!!
