Jakes Mum I did mention this to him, saying if I went back to work full time it would cost £80 a day in childcare costs - he soon shut up after that!

Can't believe it! After our much agreed conversation about not going on holiday abroad next year as we'd much rather use that money to pay off some debts, hubby had secretly ordered an ipad (which got delivered yesterday!)!

I asked how much it cost - £499 - I said for that money I'd rather have flights to portugal. Cheeky whatsit said it's not my concern as it's his money. Told me he pays the bill and as I don't contribute financially to it he could do whatever he wanted! Then he said I don't do anything in the house either!

Cannot believe how insensitive he is, he treats this place like a hotel - leaving me to tidy up after him all the time and expects his dinner on the table when he comes home!!!

Luckily it's not model he wanted, so it's going back. But it's opened up a whole can of worms. Tried to have a 'grown up' conversation about it last night and he was just cracking jokes all the time. Sometimes I feel like I want to get a heavy frying pan and wack him on the head with it!!!

    ***RANT OVER***

Choclover - <<hugs>> to you. I've bolded the sentence prior to Jakes-Mum as this one would have flipped me over the edge, we're a team and what we do is to the benefit of both of us. Plus what's mine is mine and what's his is mine also, and we both understand that :). I think revenge is better served sweet, and for me a mini-break away with my best girl buddy would be in the pipeline, no Hubby, no kids, just me and my Best Buddy. A spa break at Centre Parcs would be calling my name, my only decision would be, a Monday-Friday break so he only has to get the kids to school and pick them up again or a weekend break when he has to look after the kids 24/7. Or maybe a 3-day River Cottage Experience :j

    Morning all!

recurrent ostrich - we all need something to forward to.

kerfuffle - bus fares round here are loopy. Driver said a return would cost me £6 but an all day rider would cost £4. Why have a £6 ticket in the first place?

Mrs AtS - small breaks are sometimes just as fun as long holiday, enjoy!

    Thank you :T.

recurrent-ostrich - :j to the Summer '13 holiday plans, they sound great, and the fact that you're doing something other than initially planned and still getting a holiday is briilliant. It just shows what we can do when we step back and have another think about the situation. No penance required for this, you did good :T

Mrs A-2-S - Great holiday plans too, and fantastic price for what will be 4 days away in total. :T happy to hear that you're excited as it's something to look forward to, and that's always a good thing.

his-missus - Probably because they're being naughty and fleecing the unsuspecting who don't ask for different options and just ask for a return ticket.

Gemma - To the 163.00 GBpounds, but some spends are unavoidable and safety (and good nutrition ;)) always comes first. You redeemed yourself anyway (not that you needed to) by not spending in Furniture Village, and you could always keep an eye on the bedding, curtains, lamps and shiny things and see if they come on sale.

Great sentiments at the end of the post. My payments to Santander are automatically being paid each and every month and no extra effort is required, but by just coming here everyday it keeps me motivated to find extra to pay BoM&D rather than just having the attitude of 'it's only Mum and Dad, they won't mind, they'll understand'.

Here's to putting a monstrous week behind you, and having an awesome weekend.:D

cj75 - :T Well done for making a payment, it doesn't matter how small it is, as his-missus says, it's going in the right direction. Be proud of what you've paid, even the smallest amount is not to be sniffed at.

Jakes-Mum - Don't worry about the rant, if coming here and ranting lowers your blood pressure then feel free to do it anytime.

    Thank you for that :T.

WTH - who does he think he is? You are the mother of his children and have just had a baby so of course you are not earning anything. I'm with Jake's Mum on this one - tell him how much it would cost him for childminders, cleaners etc. I also did this once with my DH and he was quite shocked to find (a) how much I actually did and (b) that he would not be able to afford to pay for it all with his wages and have any money left to live :rotfl:. You def need a good frying pan!
Also like Kerfuffle's idea now that I've seen it :).

  • Choclover, men are such @rseH0les at times. After a bust up with mine a few yrs ago when he was moaning about the house etc, I wrote
down everything that I had done for the week and gave it to him. He couldn't believe how long it was. The crunch came when I threatened to go on strike and not do anything. He soon shut up lol.:rotfl:

Waiting for CC bill this week so can make a payment. Was a bit spendy last month so think it has put back my DF date a month.

Unfortunately, I have to bow out of this thread. Had a minor setback which means I am realistically looking at a year to clear all my debts.

Not going to give up though! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

    Total Debt: 1383/ £8121

Aiming to clear 50% by Xmas 2012 :j

Hi you don't have to bow out of the thread because you won't clear your debt by Xmas - quite a lot of us won't either. However, if you don't feel you can stay, then best of luck with paying debt off next year :).
