My dad told me this morning that one of my front tyres was now illegal and the other was on the limit so had to fork out for 2 new tyres this morning before work at £163...!
Oh well, it's Friday and the end of a monstrous week at work!!!! I was so good last night though, I took my mum to the Furniture Village at the Trafford Centre to get bedding etc for the spare room that they've done up. I saw a GORGEOUS bedding set (£140!!!) and curtains and lamps and shiny things.... I was soooooooooooo tempted but I kept saying to myself that I didn't NEED anything and it would feel far better once I buy them when I'm debt free. I put them all back and bought a book instead for £6.99 reduced from £20 so I think that's a good result!
I'm so chuffed for Ashleighsalem and everyone else who is still motoring on with paying off their debts! Well done peeps, I am so proud of you all!!! It doesn't matter if you finish the challenge this month, next month, by Xmas or even a year or so from now. Just keep working at it and never forget how much you deserve to be debt free. This isn't supposed to be a challenge where you don't have treats or go on holidays, it's hopefully changing people's view of money and how they spend it. You need to still have a life but it's making small compromises and making sure that treats are just that and not the norm. I think what you guys are doing is brilliant and you keep me motivated every day!!! xxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

:TWell done ashleigh, a brilliant achievement! What do you intend to do now you're debt free? Any plans or things you can do now you're DF?0

grr, rant alert!
why is my council so rubbish? I ordered a green bin back in march using their snazzy online booking form it says 'oooo your shiny new bin will be with you in 6 weeks', 'hurray' thinks I, 7 weeks pass, no bin. So I chase it, 'oh no, that reference number doesnt even start with the right number for a bin request (eh? its of your automated system and copied and pasted from my emailed confirmation!)
Anyway, ok I can accept that maybe its got lost in th system, so a new request with a nice new number is raised by the agent. 'your shiny new bin will be with you in 6 weeks!', 'hope so!' thinks I as the hedge out the front is overgrowing the path and my access to my front door. 6 more weeks pass, still no bin, 'umm wheres my bin?' new agent 'oh i'll look into that and get right back to you madam'. 4 days later no reply, so I ring them today and say 'look its been nearly 15 weeks since I first ordered my bin, where the heck is it, I actually cant get my wheelchair up the path anymore, which is pretty damn important as some days I cant walk at all!', yet another agent 'i'll just look into that for you . . . . . but your bin was only ordered 4 days ago madam, they take 6 weeks' !!!!!!!!??
I will say I was very good and kept my temper (though it was fraying rather rapidly) while I explained actually no, just because the previous agent when saying he would 'sort it out' actually just stuck a new request in and didnt bother to inform me as I think he knew I wouldnt be happy, doesnt mean I requested it 4 days ago
Totally non moneysaving post but seriously, im not asking the earth here, just for a d*mn bin so I can weed my garden as DH is now in too much pain to take it to the tip for me :mad:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
I have shiny stars on the board:j:j:j:j:j thanks Gemma. And thank you for all the congratulations, I keep wandering round the house muttering "i'm debt free!!" - I must stop this before OH gets home or he will be getting in the men with white coats to haul me in:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
As a reward for ds and me (his been so good with all the cutbacks) we are going to go racing for the day at Newton Abbott. It's 'our thing' and i'm only allowed to go with him!! Perhaps he thinks i'll go to wild without him there:p
But my next challenge is to beat oh cc into submission, whether oh likes it or not! Oh has yet to have his lbm, he is happy to pay £50 a month and float along, even if it does mean he's floating along for 17 years:eek::eek: I did have a well reasoned disscusion (read nag) with him in January and got him to agree to no more spending on the card and transferred him to a 0% card. The no spending on the card has gone surprisingly well, with only one essential spend of £40 since Jan. Now there have been times during my money saving antics that i have willingly taken my life in my own hands - boots 75% sale, £5 turkeys at closing time at m&s on xmas eve (ok i did wimp out and just grabbed 2 turkey crowns - who realised middle class people in their 50's could be sooo scary)- but i do draw the line at only having one controller for the playstation that is and always will be an essential spend in this household.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::xmastree::TDebt Free by Xmas '12 #100 5701/5701 100%:T :xmastree:
