Hello Max2005  welcome to the thread
Firstly let us know how much you owe, dont be scared or the number, we've had huge and we've had small debts here, we dont judge as we are all in the same boat.
Also if you want you can tell us how you owe it, i.e credit cards, loans, over drafts, bank of mum and dad, arrears etc. It does help to see where your debt is and what kind of APR's you are paying so you can start finding your way through it all rather than being lost within it with no way outSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000 -
The very shortened version is that my parents split up on Christmas Day, I moved my mum out on Boxing Day and my older sister and I spent the next few days being marriage counselors and eventually got them back together... To be honest, their marriage is still very rocky because they both won't make much of an effort and they're very much the "victims". Honestly, it's like referree-ing children sometimes!!!
I'm sorry to hear that
On a funny note, Co-op has just had an advert on for BBQ food!!! :rotfl: Haven't they looked outside?????????
It's the best time for shops to have an offer on BBq food as not many people will buy it :rotfl:Dare I say Starnak that I was actually a littel dissappointed when I realised i'd gone over budget last christmas :rotfl: saw it as an epic failure, DH was stood next to me rolling his eyes saying 'but love, you got 13 people christmas presents for £106 and that includes our 2 children who had nearly £1k worth of stuff to open alone!' :rotfl: heaven knows what i'll be like if I actually have to buy something this year
We will run for the hills if you buy something this year then :rotfl:
Ooo Kerfuffle, I carry a lucky penny too since someone else mentioned it and have noticed I always seem to have money come to me just as she said

DD wouldn't like that! Whenever we find roadkill she is always so pleased as "he can go in the pot with his friends so he's not lonely any more". Imagine if I told her he had to live on his own :eek:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Kerfuffle, what is a fiscal fast?
Hi kerri_dfw, HERE's a link to the Fiscal Fast thread. Basically it's about tightening your belt for 7 days and not spending any money (other than direct debits). How you do it depends on yourself, I think some people just do a random 7 day stint as and when they need to, others (like me) try to do it back to back with a day of spending inbetween. I know some people have said what's the point as you can spend a ton of money on the spend day and that defeats the object, but for me I'm trying to really restrict my spends on the spending day, and then not open my purse for a week afterwards. It makes you think about when you pay for things like bills though, choosing to pay before the start of the 7 days or delaying it to pay it on the spend day.Can I join this when I can start harvesting my home grown veggies or is that considered cheating??? :rotfl:
Jemma - Not considered cheating at all, it's all about not opening your purse and not making un-necessary unplanned purchases. It's the best time for shops to have an offer on BBq food as not many people will buy it :rotfl:
I think i need some of that! How do you get a lucky penny?
Hi Starnac, I got mine by putting 20p into a machine in Blackpool and it spitting out a squashed penny with the words 'Lucky Penny' imprinted on it. I know, I was guillable :rotfl:
I think I prefer jakes-mum's method of getting lucky pennies.0 -
Ooh Kerfuffle I should SOOOO join you on that one
all my bills including veg boxes are on direct debits. The only thing I'd be worried about would be work expenses, as I can't really not spend on those for 7 days....however, if I exclude them then I think I have a lot to work with
I had a massive scare this afternoon, I couldn't work out where £500 had disappeared to and I didn't have enough in my hsb a/c to cover my rent eep! Turned out I'd paid my c/c early afterall and so just needed to transfer from my lloy a/c what I had been saving for the cc. Really relieved as I can't remember ever paying the c/c and I know it's not on d/d oops!
Bought myself some lovely katia triana yarn this afternoon, I'm currently knitting it to make a ruffle scarf. Hoping it'll be a quick-make, money spinner for the craft fairs. They look really lovely, and don't take that much effort to knit whoop whoop.
Off to visit Grandad in hospital nowI really hate Macmillan hospitals, I know the nurses are lovely, but I hate being reminded of our mortality.

You shouldn't put ointment on burns - apparently it traps the heat in and makes the burn go deeper, so you're better off without!
I'm going through one of those phases where I think; 'maybe I'll just pay off a little less each month so I can live a little more' but you lot always get me back to thinking the short term 'suffering' is worth it to be clear of that darned overdraft. 3 weeks to pay day and I have £70 left atm though! Visited friends and family over the weekend, and my student friends were all very rubbish at persuading me not to buy things. I managed to talk the OH out of buying any popcorn at the cinema though, and you just can't imagine the challenge that was!0 -
