was a good girl today tidied out my larder in the kitchen.

And organisd it. Don't think it has ever looked that tidy.

Mind you the house smells like a brewery as found bottles of beer that husband brewed going back to august 06  They where a tad fizzy whizzy:rotfl:

Took a load of stuff over to the recycling centre and the box the bottles where gave way :o Some made it in to the bottle bank.

    Yours

Kscour, you have thrown out more than four times my body weight already!

I wish I could say the same!!! Still I've noticed that I feel more positive about things as I'm doing this. I think things were really getting me down before without me actually realising it (if that makes sense).

Past the 40 stone mark today!
Bad day in that I've got DD1's bug and I feel awful but I've wanted to keep going more than I've wanted to curl up and die quietly so I've plodded on. DD's sorted their outside toys and had a good time trying it all out - I think they feel alot better for the clear out too.
Office now nearly done - OH has promised to do his desk in the next few days (I have promised not to even look at it until then:rolleyes: didn't say anything about after then though:D ) Load of shreding left and then vacumn up and done!!:j :j :j Not that it's perfect but it is decluttered and clean - lots of filing still to do:(
Shed was actually easy - nothing to do but put things on shelves which means all the rubbish is in the garage, oh goody goody!
Living room done - 9 pounds but there's not much scope for clutter in there so I was quite shocked to get that much out.

I was dreaming about touring stately homes last night (I think I could do with some therapy:o ) I was walking down these corridors all clean and tidy with the odd marble topped table and vase when a door opened and there was this room full up with mags and clothes and stuff. Made me think that whenever you go round these places there isn't any clutter, even old style clutter. Perhaps its a modern thing to bung up your houses? Rich people bought good furniture and it stayed there for generations, poorer people bought cheaper stuff and passed it on for generations. Bit too much deep thoughts going on - must be time for bed!

Ah yes but did these stately home people have a 'messy room' in my limited experience (unless it's just the people I know) most people have a 'messy room' whether it's a garage, a spare room, somewhere they hide their stuff away. When I lived with my ex we had a messy room til the kids came along. But there was loads of storage and places to 'hide' the clutter. When I lived on my own my understairs cupboard was a tip. So was alot of the housse tbh as I have always been a hoarder :o. Where I live now we haven't got room for a messy room apart from the sheds in the garden, so most of the clutter is on show, hence me being on this thread. :o The plan is to declutter and pay more off the mortgage and then buy a bigger house, this one is too small-it has 3 bedrooms but I would like a bigger house-with more garden, guess I'd better get de-cluttering then. Once we've de-cluttered we should have room to decorate. All budding decorators ,this link will be helpful (I hope).http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=729729

It's great to read the updates! I am up to £96 on ebay which is well on track for the £75-£100 I was hoping for, considering there's still 7 days to run!

Couldn't resist having a little sort out yesterday and I've got some more bits for ebay and some for the car boot sale. I have decided to shred appraisals and stuff from my last office job, I was keeping them in case I needed to show a future prospective employer, but now I think they are too out of date to be relevant.

I have decided the CDs will all go, but I'll do it in batches. I've halved the collection once, I was trying to halve it again yesterday but didn't manage it (also ran out of time), about 80 still remain. I don't know about anyone else but with most album CDs I only have a couple of favourite tracks anyway, so I'm noting those down and I'll replace them with downloads if I find I miss them.

Natlou thank you for the kind words about my sig, I have really been on a mission the last few years, haha! Good luck with your 'sig challenge', you have done GREAT so far this year! Let us know how you get on with Freecycle :)

Hi Jo_anne my loft was a complete 'mare - definitely the worst job in the house (yes even worse than the great photo sort out will be when I get around to it!) but the sense of satisfaction to see it as it is now is AMAZING! Literally all that's up there are the archive boxes of my son's artwork/schoolwork (neatly organised), and our camping equipment. Those are beside the loft hatch, and the rest of the loft is empty, all you can see is brand new lovely thick loft insulation! :D Ah, bliss!!! It's worth the effort I promise!

Kscour, hope you feel better soon, I'm impressed you're still pressing on even though not feeling 100%.

I've got a lot to do today but I will try to pop back this evening for a catch up! Have a good day everyone.

Had e mail today from someone interested in the bike we've got in the garage so hopefully that will go. Feeling optomistic I've put on freecycle the two drawer chest I cleared yesterday.
No response on the wallpaper yet though.
And no further de-cluttering on my part............in fact I seem to be getting in a bigger mess with odds and sods being assembles in carrier bags for ex foster girls sister to have...................lol

And oh the embarassment when OH wanted some string and I had to rummage through two overcrowded drawers to find it...............lol
Really want to start on my books but now think maybe these drawers are a bit more important..............lol

(Next door neighbour is loading a trailer with 'stuff'............I'm so itching to go out there and see what it is and 'save' it from the tip............I mustn't........I really mustn't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all you busy organised people!

I have been lurking on this thread for ages but never actually getting round to doing much about any of it!! (so easy to sit and read rather than go and do!)

Yesterday I finally said to the kids 'let's go through the DVD's and see if there's any you don't want' we have cleared out about 15 and I will try and sell them on ebay. I used to sell stuff on ebay but haven't done for ages as found time was running out and I was too busy etc etc but I honestly thnk it will be really good for me psychologically (?sp?) to get rid of stuff plus the whole familywill benifit fom me making some money especially as DH's job finishes on Weds (though we go on holiday on Thursday!).

Thought I'd start with DVD's as they should be relatively easy to enter otothe site and easy to send, then I'll see how it goes!

Today I have helped DS (6) to tidy his room and we have a box and bin bag of things to get rid of and a small bag of rubbish so a good outcome!! He is very pleased as he helped decide where things should be kept and hopefully i will make it easier for him to keep it all tidy. Now DD (9) is another story and has so many little bits/ornaments/girlie thingies that her room is rarely tidy even if I spend hours sorting it all out. She has made a bit of an effort tho so it could be worse!

So the great declutter has begun (we got a huge bag of clothes out of DD's drawers/cupboards too) and it needs to continue as we can't get in one bedroom as it is full of stuff to pass on/ebay/give away etc etc.

I will try and keep it up but have to get ready for our hols so might not be doing much in the next couple of weeks but will hopefully managed to keep up to date with you all while I'm away and keep inspired for my return!
Thanks everyone and keep up the inspirational/motivational de-cluttering!!

Arrggh - someone shoot me. I spend all day yesterday cleaning and whatnot, and the place is a goddam tip already! OH's sister is here so all her stuff is over the lounge, and I decided on some retail therapy today, so Ive added a load of stuff to the cupboards! In fairness, after I dejunked the wardrobe etc I realised I didnt have much in the way of clothing so I treated myself to a couple of new outfits.

Oh well, dejunk phase two starts on wednesday (repairing, replacing, and cleaning trouble spots).

Why not transfer the cds or the tracks you like onto your computer now using realplayer or media player then they'll be there and you can listen when you want or copy onto a cd so you have all your favourite together and it won't cost you anything to store them and you can ebay the original CDs

45 stone, two disenchanted DD's and snow in the attic!

Well we're up to 45 stone, still shredding which means there is now a trail throughout downstairs (except for living room, that room is done and even DD's know to immediately pick up bits of paper off floor or mummy's head spins round and round:D ) Picking rooms out of a hat to pick the order to do them in and today hit gold - not! - the attic under the eaves which also doubles up as an overflow larder and general dumping ground. Whilst crawling in this little space (think I'm a celebrity get me out of here) I grabbed a plastic tub and lifted up and pulled towards me - and covered me and attic in a carton of fake snow! Can honestly say I'm a probably one of the few people who have felt the need to vacumn an attic!
DD's getting a bit fed up but it'll be less intense for them tomorrow whilst I'm working and they're lazing about on their half term!
Felt quite chuffed today when SIL called in and was really impressed how tidy and clear the living room and DD's bedrooms were - didn't say the same about the rest of the house though:D
Also stuff to go was collected today and very gratefully received - anything that can't be used by hospital etc will be sold at car boot to raise funds for them
all in all a fairly good day - hope everyone else had a good day too!
