Just to toss an idea into the pot, I use my old Quality Street one for a first aid tin of sorts. It's got all the odd paracetamols packets I've found in the sort out in it as well as plasters, other medicines, bandages and creams. It's great because now I don't have to go and buy umpteen more packets of pain killers cos I can't find the ones we have. Obviously it needs to be out of reach if you have kids.

I have a little wall cupboard I use.. everything is just chucked in.. I need to sort through it actually I'm sure I'll have some stuff in there to fling!!

1 box of sega stuff, playstation games and that bundle which I can just relist done:D Another 2 to go, but I can copy and paste the description from when I tried listing the majority of these two boxes and 1 large lot ;) I'll just take some new pics as I've bundled them up differently now and added more to them!

    Thanks Pigpen :)

Some of my stuff is so obscure there's no completed listings of anything like it :p Also not sure I'd trust anyone else's descriptions, what if they've made a mistake? :rotfl: I know, I'm paranoid.

Anyway, I have 16 items all loaded up and almost ready, just need to add the postage costs when I can be bothered, which will probably be tomorrow!

Good luck with all your auctions guys!

Greetings all from another newbie - today's been my first post!

Both DH and I, unfortunately, are habitual clutterers. We live with piles (and I don't mean the medical kind). However, I have started seriously decluttering my office/spare room - have a target to finish by 22 May when my DH's sister and her husband are coming to stay. Have already recycled bags of papers etc. from the filing cabinet and from boxes on the floor :j, there is still some way to go. Also, I have loads of photos that need trimming down - many from the 1990's when I lived in Russia and travelled to all sorts of places (too bad digital cameras weren't as common then!). It will not be the end of the world if I don't declutter EVERY box etc. by the 22nd as we've had guests there and there's still been room for the bed  however it's given me motivation to have a clear target date to aim for.

DH and I have some things to ebay and freecycle around the house, and again before the 22nd I want to declutter our two landings. I so identify with the poster who started this thread (sorry have forgotten your name!) about getting completely  sometimes about all the clutter and then the bloomin' dust that accumulates on top of it!! So easy not to see it, but am feeling good about seeing it now and working away at all of it, small step by small step... sometimes when I get overwhelmed looking at it all I say to myself, right, ok, let's set the timer for 15 minutes and I will spend that 15 minutes on something, which really helps.

OK back to work now  Look forward to checking out more of this thread later.

Just emerged from the built in cupboard in our bedroom..........almost like my son is still living here...........most of it was his !!
Scrapbook of Royal Wedding (Di and Charles)
Numerous Liverpool football team posters all rolled up
    U2 videos
Yet more NME's..........1988 -1990 -didn't have time to go through them all
    Airfix soldiers (very very tiny)
Various posters about the Army (don't know why -my kids have never been keen)
Then ventured into the drawer at the top end under our bed ............more of sons artwork...........little wooden things he's made at school (got to keep them)
paintbrushes (I'll send them on to him)

Also found grandma's very old bloomers, white cotton edged with lace...........lol and her old serwing case she made plus three brand new towels !!!
So, towels now in more accessible place, bloomers and sewing case in with Dads little lot of 'memories'...........found my sons 'work experience report so that can go in family history file.

So, bit more for ex foster girls sister to take tomorrow.:T

Nothing actually 'out' of the house yet
    Nothing 'in'

Don't feel as if I've got much done in the house since I last posted - haven't really made headway into the toyroom-soon-to-be-bedroom yet - seemed a better idea to try and sort out everything that had escaped first, which in turn involved clearing out a couple of cupboards to make more storage space. I think we're about there now though, and we've created a few boxes for the carboot season in the process, so hopefully those 'after' pictures aren't too far away now.

I've potentially made a big gap in the garden junk too - all down the side of the house we have stacks of old planters, bags of compost etc that we bought from the old house but haven't needed or had space for here (garden was already well established) - I've got to make a proper list, but it appears that most of it could be taken by son's school for their growing projects - it'll be nice to be able to walk down the path without tripping up, lol.

    :)

Finally got to the end of this thread - it's gripping - I just had to keep reading to find out how everyone's flinging and selling was going. Have read bits and bobs from time to time but as OH and I are currently trying to declutter thought I'd read the whole thing then join in so hello

OH and I are in our mid twenties in that post living with families (left nearly 7 years ago to go to Universities) and student houses and pre children phase. My parents were very clean to get rid of as much of my and my brothers things as possible - especially when I moved from a rented flat into a bought house nearly 18 months ago so lots of old 'cherished possessions' came my way which I now need to decide what to do with. OH's parents are horrendous hoarders and aren't too bothered about his stuff but we now have most of it in our house and it all got a bit dumped here there and everywhere. I've also lost weight and had lots of clothes which didn't fit anymore (and hadn't worn for ages anyway).

General getting rid of things on freecycle, ebay, amazon, green metropolis and small ads at work has been going on for quite a while but we've stepped up a new gear now. Recently:

    1 binbag of complete rubbish
1 bag of clothes to Oxfam, got M+S voucher and bought myself some reduced summer trousers and OH some underwear
2 bags of clothes and shoes to other charity shops (one bag was massive)
2 boxes so far for a carboot sale and counting.
Small bookcase from Office (2nd bedroom) moved into 3rd bedroom and OH and my books from childhood we still want for now on there and my Amazon and GM stock - this sits nicely behind the door and I'm selling it gradually - quite a lot is my parents from their clear outs - sold 1 CD on Monday and another today.
Lots of old underwear and pjs to go in textile recycling.

Currently emptying office completely ready to decorate - then we're buying some new desks and big book cases and will sell the old furniture which doesn't really suit our needs now.

Ebay listing preparation tonight OH collects Lego and actually has some things he's happy to part with but has never sold on ebay (only bought ) so wants some help!

Maybe I'm best off asking ex foster girls sister to do it for me. She's got camera and stuff.
Found some MDF..............one bit fits the little cupboard I shabby chic'd a few weeks back and some of the other bits I can paint and put pegs on, give them as christmas pressies..........lol

Done the postage costs so I am ready to roll with 16 items tomorrow! Nothing in, nothing out today. Tomorrow there might be some stuff in (gasp!) - some summerwear for me!

Hi new peeps, welcome! Hope you enjoy the thread and that it helps keep you motivated :D

Mary, you've definitely got some ebay fodder there! The first listing is always the most scary one, but once you've done one it gets easier! (Or get someone else to do it, as you say ;))

Yorkieless you deserve a medal for reading through the whole thread!!! Good luck with the lego selling, I understand lego is a big seller!
