That must be a really tricky one Primrose and I sympathise. I think it may have been Pigpen on here who said something like memories are in our heads and hearts, not our cupboards? Of course we all like to hang onto a certain amount of stuff for sentimental reasons but I try not to define my life by what "stuff" I've managed to accumulate.
If you could sell a book collection for say £100 but then a few years on have an overwhelming desire to read one of them, then replacing it for a fiver isn't going to be a problem. Or use the library? I don't know what your OH would think about that
A big part of my motivation is that I never want my junk to become someone else's problem. I have seen enough of my family struggle with house clearances (sadly we've had several bereavements in the past few years). I wouldn't want my loved ones spending months of their lives sorting out my stuff because I couldn't be bothered to.0 -
I would be doing my ebay listing to get this clutter out the house but I can't get Turbolister to update :mad::mad:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

TL is working OK for me at the moment Nicki... I guess you've tried restarting your compy, leaving it a while etc. Maybe ask on the MSE ebay forum? That's a pain if you want to get your stuff up today.
My 30 listings are finally ready to go, I don't know why but they have taken much longer than usual to prepare this time  Probably just me not knuckling down enough
How did things go with the last promo listing day (the free one) - I was away when that one happened. Any good sales?0 -
I walk round the house in frustration finding things that haven't been used for years yet I can't persuade my O.H to get rid of them because he feels it would be like throwing away part of his life. The loft is full of stuff that isn't used. we have books which have never been read or are kept because "one day I'll find time to read them" and a garage full of items "which will come in useful one day". Helpful hints please.
I flusually as soon as I start chucking his stuff he leaps in and gets rid of some himself.. luckily he came with only 2 carriers of junk.. and one of those was his clothes!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
After my dh decided we needed to keep a pile a threadbare towels with holes in despite having more towels than can fit into the cupboard. I decided in future I wasn't consulting him. I was just throwing away without telling him:shhh: but that depends on what it is. I wouldn't throw his collection of football programmes for example. They can live in the loft.0

I'd be seeing £££ signs if there were football programmes lying around!
Especially older ones can be worth a lot

I fixed my problem with Turbolister :j:j For some reason I have to have internet explorer open at the same time
Don't understand fully why (forums on ebay say something about TL needing IE for some things) but it does work and I finally have an up-to-date programme....just need to get on with the listings now :rotfl::rotfl:

You don't know what football teams he supports:p
Haha this is true, Spendless! But if they're living in the loft I hope you've got them well wrapped and protected just in case - ones from the 1940's can go for £200+. Each  So you never know in the future...
Glad it's working Nicki, thanks for that useful info0
