Enough is enough - the great declutter

I have about 400 bibs, 300 bodysuits and 3 snowsuits to get rid of too.. before I even start on dresses!!!
!!!
The job lots I sold were about 50 items each (not including socks etc) and I started them at £9.99 and they both went for £20 (the buyers collected). I would be tempted to to split your stuff into different lots, as I'm sure you'll get good money for them. As one big lot, you might not make as much (unless you stick it all on as £150 BIN - not including the snowsuits or dresses- it may be worth a shot for the £1.30 listing fee). On both occasions, the buyers were dealers (I listed the stuff inthe job lots section) and said to contact them directly if I had any more stuff (I'm in Kent), so you might find one person that will take the lot off you for good money.
It just takes a little time to do it (having just sorted and passed on a mountain of baby girls clothes myself). I'd been putting it off for months until something finally cracked. The stuff I sold were clothes that my daughters hadn't even worn and was just the tip of the iceberg - I didn't even bother ironing the stuff.
If you want a link to my listings, I can PM them."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Right, it's a "find stuff for ebay" day today!
The other good thing about all I've done so far is it only takes a short time to go through every single thing I own now!
Pigpen definitely save those listings for Thursday! Remember new postage rates coming in though as Nicki said. I agree with Mrcow, get those baby things on ebay - split into manageable lots - and they will only be 5p each to list!
I still have an old chest of drawers in the shed which I keep meaning to put out the front with a "free" sign when it's a nice day, then when the nice days come along I do other things and completely forget about it :rotfl: I've written myself a reminder now.0 -

Or you could put it on freecycle.....We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
I am determined to get rid of some more stuff today. Have just put 4 small items on freecycle in one posting and my goal today is to do at least 3 postings....wish me luck!We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Or you could put it on freecycle.....
It's been on 3 different Freecycle groups more than once, it's pretty shabby so I've described it accurately and obviously nobody wants it :rotfl:
I'm sure someone would have a use for it though, for garage/temporary storage if nothing else. We'll see if putting it outside works, if not then it might have to be my only thing that goes to the tip in this entire process (sob).0 -
Need somewhere to vent my anger - why when I list on freecycle do I get some replies immediately and yet when I answer them, they don't reply or take often as long as a day to reply back. OH reckons some people just reply to all posts and then decide later what they want and will collect.....pure greed, he calls itWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

I can empathise with your anger. I have been trying to de-clutter this year (late to the party, sorry!) and had hoped to get rid of some of the excess furniture I own through freecycle. So far I have only managed to offload some wallpaper as the furniture posts were replied to very quickly, people begging for the stuff, but then claiming inability to pick up when I offer them the items. It's particularly infuriating because I had made a point in my posts about being unable to deliver.
Heigh ho! Onwards eh?Fat, female and fabulous

Viv that was something that used to do my head in too! They are so keen to begin with, then they seem to cool off... when I reply to the collectors I give them a time to collect (they have already given me their availability as I ask for that in the original offer), and say that if no reply it will be offered to the next person in 24 hours.
Random Fat Bird (what a username!!!) ask people to state when they can collect when you originally offer something. It's a good way of weeding out people who don't pay attention
Well I've been collecting items for ebay, found a surprising amount of stuff to part with... I really thought my household contents were virtually trimmed to the bone by now. Obviously not! Proves if you leave it for a while you can change your mind about what to keep...0 -
Well, if all goes to plan, today will have been a good decluttering day
The mobility scooter I mentioned a week or so back was collected just after lunch, which in turn has created a nice big gap in the garage where I can clear the carboot boxes from the hall to.
Later today I hopefully have someone coming from freecycle to collect all my 'ebay' packaging - I'm not selling there anymore for a variety of reasons - I listed it on freecycle as 'a' black bag, but by the time I'd got it all together, there are actually almost 6! I've emailed her to warn her, and we'll see what she takes.
There's also a pile of shoeboxes going to another freecycler too, with a bit of luck.
A lot of the packaging was in plastic boxes under the bed - I don't like them, they get pushed back and forgotten about, so they're going on freecycle in a day or so too.
Now, apart from a laundry basket piled high with ironing, once everything has been collected, my hall will be clear for the first time in months :jDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
