Yay!:j That's great news Armani! Good luck for him! Let us know what happens...
sorry I wasn't around last night - I felt really low and after I posted just kind of slumped and stared at the screen!Feeling a little better today but think it's going to be a long one with the children as DS has woken up in a stinker of a mood
. Will try to ring Barclays today if I get a chance, as I might ask them if they'll at least stop charges, if not interest (the charges are £12 which is my payment so it's just going to go up nd up!). But then I'm scared!!:o
Sorry to hear of your car woes Teecee and Smilealot - hope they are cheap to fix from now on!
Totallfedup - sounds like a nightmare, but I'd echo what' sbeen said - keep on paying them what you can afford, if it does go to court there will be nothing they can do really if you've kept to your end of the deal. Big hugs.
dlb- thanks for the interesting post - it's nice to hear about those who have been in it a while and who have seen inroads finally! Good luck with the rest of the debt
Smilealot - lol at the ladie & gentlemen of the night!!!Cheered me up proper!
Anyhoo, best be off- need to get to Tesco and do ANOTHER shop - this time for baby stuff as have a 750 point coupon. At least the baby stuff will last me at least 3 weeks.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Hi everyone
Thanks for all the kind suport. Got a big day at work today so won't be able to check forum as often as normal. Thought I would just drop a quick note while I can. I am now putting things into perspective. In a way I am being given the opportunity to clear one of my debts in four months, which will mean one down and only six to go! Just hope the other six blame RMA and not me.
Sea - can you not ask CCCS to intervene for you again. Now they have accepted the DMP, they will have a hard job justifying the interest. And the CCCS and Barclays have a very good relationship. To speed things up you could call them and speak to someone. At least you would know where you stand - for all you know they may be planning to refund the interest.
Fed up - You don't always have to go to court with a CCJ. Check with Payplan but I'm sure that even at this stage a settlement can be reached before it goes to court. Also, if the amount used for bingo was next to nothing, the court will take everything else into account. Try not to be scared. This may reassure you a bit:

Thanks again to all you lovely people (this thread is developing evangelical undertones ;-) ) Hope you have a good day.

Hi everyone
Just been trying to catch up with all your posts.
YellowMonkey - not sure if this helps but we are with cccs and have
£100k!!!!!! of debt and we only have my partners salary coming in. They excepted a dmp and we just pay £120 a month. Which works out at about £5 per creditor. We are due to start our first payment this month.
Northern Rock - excepted and stopped interest
MBNA - excepted and stopped interest (about 3 cards with them and most of our debt)
Barclaycard - agreed
Egg card and loan - agreed
Morgan Stanley - agreed
Havent heard from Citi cards yet.
The only one we seem to have a bit of a problem with at the moment is Lloyds as Lloyds credit card have started to take from our Lloyds overdraft which was clear. So DH going to speak to them.
Hope everyone else is all ok.
Not sure whats more scary at them moment the thought of labour any day or nasty calls!!!!!!!

Thats a tough one scared labour or calls - experienced both and they're both scary - I suppose at least a call you can hang up on but labour  no going back when that starts. At least you know labour will end with :kisses: and a lovely little baby. Mind you so will debt (kisses minus the baby -lol). Decisions, decisions - see I'm a typical libran indecissive to the end. No choice really is there - I'd take labour any day. Good luck and don't forget to keep us informed and don't forget the breathing!!!I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0

Hi everyone,
Good Luck Mr amani for the interview hope it goes well!!
Thanks Sea for the good wishes re the car, I'm just waiting to see if it passes MOT on thursday then I'll know one way or the other!!
Hope everyone is ok, no nasty letters or calls for me today athough I did receive the offer of a pre-approved homeowner loan from Cap 1 today!!:rotfl:
I have always avoided secured debt like the plague, (at least my dad taught me that and it stuck!! - "don't ever risk your home" - he would say.) so I was actually more amused than anything else by the offer seens as i already owe them £5000, and the reduced payments from CCCS are a fraction of what they used to receive.
Nothing else to report, I have still got 2 creditors who have not formally accepted my DMP, so I'm off to give them a ring!

Ok, after much debate and discussion with OH it looks like I may be heading for a CCCS DMP.
He's helped me work out what half of all our bills are so I can put down proper figures.
He seemed a bit concerned that I'd have no money left and no credit card cushion to fall onto - but I explained that you budget for everything, your petrol, haircuts, prescriptions, car tax, MOT etc and that you save that much up and if you spend less then you have a small savings cushion.
He also seems a bit concerned I won't be able to get any credit at the end of the 5 years but to be honest, I can't get any more credit now at all and there's nothing to say I'll be any better off in 5 years time!!
So, how likely are the creditors to agree without issuing CCJ's?? Anyone know? My overall debt payment will be half what it is now, but pro rata some will end up with quite a lot less than now.
When do the nasty phone calls start/quieten off?
I feel more nervous about doing this than anything else, but everything is maxed out now till payday and my car is sounding very sick and I'm sure it won't pass the MOT at the end of next month so I'll be very stuck.
Just busy revising my figures and checking that it allows for everything since OH is self employed so his income is not guaranteed.
Edit: Oooh just seen you've given me a numberThanks. Thanks for everyone's help and support I feel much more positive about all of this after the help from you lot
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
My phone calls and nasty letter dried up within about 6-8 weeks of first going on the dmp, and dont worry about them not geting as much as they are now, my biggest creditor was my natwest loan and payments were £454 a month they now only get £149 a month on the dmp and are fine with it, they have been accepting this amount for over a year now and have stopped interest.
I used to talk over the top of any phone calls i got with the following statment.
" This account is being delt with by (name of dmp company) my account number is ****** and there phone number is **** *****, please phone and speak to them, i am now going to hang up thank you."
This stopped all phone calls within weeks, i just spoke over the top of the person at the end of the phone and did this every time they phoned, they soon got fed up and rang my dmp company instead.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Yeeee Haaaaa!!
Just had confirmation from capital 1 that they have accepted DMP and have frozen interest on the account!!:D
Only CO-OP BANK to go now.:T
Newlywed - my creditors receive far less now i'm on DMP than they did before, but at least they know they are gonna get something so most seem to accept from what I gather.
You will not get CCJ's unless you fail to make your agreed payments. If the debt is passed to a DCA they are usually even more likely to accept reduced DMP payments as they have probably bought the debt from your creditor for a much lower amount than you owe..
Don't let not being able to get credit worry you as that is how you ended up here in the first place so best to do without it anyway !!
From my experience once creditors know you are on a DMP and they accept ( which most do eventually) they will stop calling and writing demanding money.!
Ifeel so much stronger now than I did before my DMP, before I was imagining all kinds of terrible things would happen:eek:
but it hasn't been like that. I feel more in control now than ever and you will too eventually.
You are doing the right thing , so stay calm and strong and Good Luck!!
