Hi.
Thanks for the posts. Very much appreciated.
I have just phoned Payplan and the figures for my outgoings were for a family of 4. I have a Gem of a partner who is fully aware of my situation and she has agreed that her income is included. It is not a lot but I now have a full financial assesment booked for tomorrow. Hopefully this should give me a surplus of a bit more than £ 39.50. Not tempting fate though and I will let you all know how I got on.
I dont know if it was a sign but the first song that came on the radio in my car was ' i will survive'. so many ups and downs and it is only lunchtime. Will speak to you all tomorrow and let you know the news good or bad!!!

Pro rate means that you work out what percentage of your overall debt is owed to each creditor, and then you pay them the same percentage of your overall available repayment money.

thanks for the explanation db :T0 -
I've had the worse day today. And Payplan have gone down a bit in my estimation. If anyone who dealt with me this morning reads this, I am sure they will guess who I am - but I don't care.
I have a corporate charge card with AMEX, which I've always paid in full at the end of the month like you're supposed to. However, when I was arranging my DMP with Payplan, I was told to treat them like any other creditor and include it in the arrangement. The debt then got sold to RMA, a debt collection agency, who said that because of the type of card it was, they would not be able to deal with Payplan. Payplan told me to ignore this and they were just trying it on. Next thing I knew I get a letter from RMA (just looked like a computer generated one) saying the amount was owed in full - just under £2000 - but I could call to negotiate a repayment proposal. I called the RMA lady I had been speaking to previously, who was very aggressive and rude, and told her that Payplan had advised me to make the payment through them and that's what I would be doing. At the end of the conversation she said that she would be recommending my account for legal proceedings. I immediately called Payplan and once again explained the situation. This time I asked if someone could look into it further, which they did.
I am still quite shocked at how I was treated. Payplan called me up again after 5 mins. The lady I had been speaking to before, who had been really sweet, had now turned into a Monster. She was snapping at me telling me that they could no longer include this card on the DMP because of RMA's terms and conditions, and that I would now have to deal with RMA by myself. I asked her to clarify why she thought they were now telling the truth but she just started raising her voice at me. I expect this kind of thing from creditors but not from the people that are trying to help you. I don't know whether it was because they had advised me wrongly and were trying to get out of any blame but she said that I had not informed them that this debt was for a charge card - and when I refuted this she said well she would listen to the recorded conversations and check. As if I would lie to them! She also told me that RMA had told me what the situation was three times and AMEX had confirmed this twice - another blatent lie on the part of RMA. But what I couldn't understand was why she was just accepting everything that RMA had told her. It seemed like they hadn't even tried to fight for me like they are supposed to.
Anyway, luckily phone cut off accidentally and I was called back by Monster's supervisor, who was much kinder and understanding. She said she could understand my frustration and said that as RMA was refusing point blank to deal with them at all, I would be better off adding my payments to RMA within my income and expenditure, and settling the debt as soon as possible.
I have now come to an arrangement to pay off the debt in full over a four-month period. Luckily it's my smallest debt so it won't take that long. So for the first four months of my DMP, all the other creditors will get around half of what they were supposed to. Thereafter, they will get the original proposed amount, with AMEX paid off in full (yeah!)
But I'm so worried that the creditors are going to be p***ed off - and rather than facing one court battle, I'll be facing several. I hope this isn't the case - Payplan said this shouldn't happen because my surplus is relatively high (£1000) - but then so are my debts. I don't know - I've lost a lot of faith in Payplan today - and I don't know what to believe any more. I can understand if they have not much experience dealing with charge cards but not sure why they couldn't have got in touch with AMEX when I first told them that this was a charge card. I do hope that I haven't made another debt-related mistake.I'm moving on up now,

Oh lonely what a bummer - :grouphug: hope that helps. Can't comment on Payplan cause I'm with CCCS but would like to think you just caught that lady on a bad day. Glad you've sorted it and hope your creditors can be patient!
Hope things go better for you tomorrow yellowmonkey - perhaps you could do the planner on cccs online before then, you're not committed and it gives you an idea of what options are available. I found it really useful. Is IVA an option for you?
:A Big Hello to everyone else - able to use my "good" pc again :j so making the most of the smilies cause don't know how long it will last.

Sorry lonely I though you'd agreed it, have payplan reduced your payment for the next four months to allow for the payment to RMA? If they have then I'd refer any queries back to Payplan - it really does seem unfair and so frustrating. But all credit to you, you're dealing with it - I'm afraid I'd be up to my neck in sand by now!!! Take care.

Sorry to hear they can't help yellowmonkey - it is a pretty standard thing to have £100 for a DMP across most companies too, unless you have very good reasons to contribute less.

Evening all!!
lonely - sorry to hear you've had such a bad day. I'm afraid I can't offer any advice as I'm with CCCS but just wanted to give some support when you are down.:grouphug: Hope you get it sorted soon.
All quiet for me today, nothing nasty in the post and no phonecalls. I'm just waiting for CCCS to distribute my first payment on the 25th and then I'm gonna ring the Co-Op bank to see if they have accepted DMP. I think they may be a bit tricky to sort out:mad:
Hope everyone has had a good day, now I really must do my coursework for college tomorrow!

lonely - sorry to hear about your bad day - Payplan don't sound like they dealt with that very well and I'm surprised at that woman. I've always had wonderful people and I think I would be really upset if they were ever rude to me (I am with CCCS btw).
I feel really rubbish today - got a Barclays statement through and despite accepting the DMP they are still charging interest and late charges. Just makes me think this will never end as the debt is just going up and up and I can't see any end to it. Probably not going to have my hours increased at work so it's possible supply, with all the carp that goes with that. Feeling fully negative AND had a scammer buy an Ebay item so have all that hassle to deal with as well.
Poo.
Hope all are good today

Hi Everyone
We've had a bad day too! Warrior have refused to accept our reduced payment via Payplan as DH used the card last year to play online bingo and they are saying we're in financial difficulties due to gambling which is totally absurd. When DH spoke to them they just said how little the card was used is irrelevant - the fact that it was used for 'gambling' is enough!
They've asked for more money which we haven't got so basically said they're sending out CCJ paperwork in 3 days time.
Feeling sick to the pit of my stomach (AGAIN) - not bothered about having a CCJ against us as I never want credit again, it's just the thought of having to go to court as we know they'll turn down our offer of payment and it'll go further and in the meantime they're sticking letter, telephone, over limit and late fees to the account which is bumping up the debt further still.
Any help on CCJ's gratefully received - right now I just want to run away and never come back.DFW Nerd # 305

Proud to be dealing with my debits although I have to admit I am scared half to death at how big a mess we are in.  Don't think I will EVER forgive myself for being so stupid!0
