Very well done! First step on that road to recovery and all that!

Ooh! Must just mention -
Received my password for online CCCS stuff, which was nice.
But the real big relief has come in the form of a letter from Citibank, with my PIN numbers in - so at least it now means I do have an account I can get my wages properly paid into!
I had to have a quick grumble at them, because it possibly would have made more sense for them to get the damn Welcome pack (with the actual account details on) before this, but at least it means I do have an account!
My day's going pretty damn well!Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

I feel scared in a way waiting for the nasty letters, but hey it's got to be done.
That's the very reason I'm hesitating from signing up for a DMP. Worried about the nasty letters and phone calls and worse still - if they ring old numbers they had for me as that will be my parents and my last place of work!!
But the way things are going, I need to either find an extra £200 a month or go on a DMP, otherwise the letters and phone calls will start in any case.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi All
Just a quick note to wish you all well, and hugs to those need them, and pats on the back to those who need them and welcome to those who deserve that for taking their first step
Having a bit of a bad week really, lots of things seem to be going not very well at the moment, and I think it started with the whole salary debacle last week. There are other non-money related problems, but it just seems that when one thing is wrong everything else seems to turn to pants too
Got a letter the other day from CapQuest, the DCA dealing with OH's egg card. They sent a dd form, and have arbitrarily put up the payment without asking for a new SOA. DH is dealing with that, but to be honest that really annoyed me. OBviously they won't be getting their dd form back, we'll just amend our s/o - if we decide we can afford to!
hope you all have a good day

Trying SO hard to be O/S0 -
Good morning all
I received my first statement from CapitalOne last night since I started the DMP and it has 0% interest, get in!!
I am over the limit however and it says that I have to pay this all back to bring my account into line, does this still hold much weight now that I am on the DMP?
So, still chuffed about that.
BTW, what is my DMP mutual support thread number?Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Newlywed, a good tip for you: call up all your creditors and say you have been getting marketing calls at your old numbers. Say these are no longer valid, get them to delete all of them. Give your current mobile number only - not home number unless you want calls at 9pm or on a weekend! Say your mobile is your home number - you no longer have a landline. Try to give your new number after you've got them to delete the others - otherwise they may just keep all of them (Big brother!). You must sound like they have caused you a lot of inconvenience and made you cross, but be firm and polite.
If you do this before the DMP, they will have no reason to become suspicious.
You can also register your home number on the telephone preference service, take your number off directory enquiries, and make sure you opt out of the edited electoral roll (all of which banks can check for your home number). Do this today, as it shouldn't take too long. It will be worth it!That's the very reason I'm hesitating from signing up for a DMP. Worried about the nasty letters and phone calls and worse still - if they ring old numbers they had for me as that will be my parents and my last place of work!!

Hi
Can't be on long - got to go off to tumble tots soon.
Newlywed - I have 7 different debts, all paid up to date until the DMP and I have only received a few letters and no phone calls. Don't let that stop you starting the DMP. I did and got myself into worse mess. They haven't rung as I deleted all the numbers I could before they knew about the DMP and gave one false one (actually to ensure no one else was hassled I go one of those free sim cards and used the number off that - picked that tip up somewhere on here!).
Go for it!

I'm trying to cheer myself up by telling myself that my debt has come down - to less than £50K (£49727.31 to be precise). Since my fiasco with Payplan and RMA about my AMEX charge card, and having been forced to include the debt in my income and expenditure, I can at least pretend I'm one debt down.
Seriously though, has anyone had to decrease their payments to creditors whilst on a DMP? How do they take it? My decreased payments will only be for four months but I'm so worried that I will now have 6 battles to fight instead of 1!!!I'm moving on up now,
Out of the darkness,
