    Hi

    Welcome To Rusty Bucket :)

Neith We have debts with MBNA, and have got an agreement with them doing our DMP on our own. They originally offered to reduce the debt to 75% if we could pay it all off now, which wasn't possible. We then agreed a reduced payment, but over the months they kept phoning and hassling and we eventually put it up to about 50% of the original repayment. I think (but would need to check, it's my DH's card) that doing this meant we were able to have the plan for two years. I wouldn't say we were bullied, but they are currently receiving the highest percentage payment against debt.

Good luck to you shoppers, remember the list :)

Ex I like your idea about phoning the creditors, just remember not to use the 0870 numbers :p

Just got in from work, 1 letter in the post and its junk mail:j

Had a talk with oh this morning 7am is not a good time to do this:eek: Have at last got him on board properly.Anyway we are going to ring payplan and see about highering our payments to £100 per month.

What i would like to know (if anyone can help) is When you are on a dmp and you have managed to save say £300 how would you go about paying 1 of your debts off or can you not do that! Would it be better to carry on with monthly payments and save save save until you have the total debt amount?
Its just that i have been reading all the other threads and they are all paying off bits here and there, ours is so huge (£45k) it will never be paid off!
Hope someone understands what i mean!!!
:D I know i'm in my own world~it's ok they know me here!!! :D

    Hi All

Well we got our welcome pack today from CCCS so ready to pay them the first payment. My DH got call from Barclay card last night and they seemed really helpful when we mentioned about the DMP, but this worries me it's all abit too quiet at the moment!!!!! My baby is due in 3 weeks so this is probaby when all the calls will start to arrive. I think I'll just have to switch the phone off and just try and deal with what I can.

I keep having hot sweats and my heart feels like it's going to jump out of my body, but I do feel better that we are trying to deal with this and not just hiding away from it even though we've got months of hellish calls and letters on the way. Wer've got about 12 creditors to deal with between us.

I'm going to start to enjoy budgeting and focus on how to save money or even make money some how.

    bye for now

    Hi Bessy,

You still get letters after two years???? Oh god i thought it may calm down after a few months!!!

    Scared,

I know what you mean about the heart, my thumps so fast and I feel like I am going to pass out sometimes with the sheer panic of it all. I hope it all goes ok for you and the baby though.

After my success with John Lewis this morning I have phoned most of my cc and they have removed my home number from there records, if that does not work I would change it to a random made up one!!

I am trying to stay on top of this by trying to beat them at there own game:rolleyes: I may not win but all the little successes on the way help keep me going.

    Good news from me. :j

Letter from GE Money. They have accepted DMP and have frozen interest and charges. :j So situation for me, 5 down 4 to go:

    Accepted

    Cahoot :j
    Egg :j
    Argos :j
    Next :j
    GE Money :j

    Awaiting

    Hellifax  (they scare me)
    Barclaycard (quite positive about them)
GE B&Q (hopefully as one GE have accepted they will do too)
Studio (no word at all from them)

I got a call to work from Virgin Media today. Long story cut short they sent me a bill for 2 phone lines and 2 TV packages. I have been with them 5 years. Anyway I phoned them and said I don't have these. They said that I did. I said I'd get the police then to investigate breaking and entering to my home. Anyway eventually they agreed credited the amount for 2 months and said I owed nothing. So I took their word for it. Last week they cut off the BB. Rang them back and they said they had no idea why as my account was in credit. BB back on. They then cut it off again. Rang them and they said I owed them money. I paid them on Friday. Yesterday I got a letter about overdue payment. Ignored it. Today they phoned me at work. They must have got my number through me phoning them at one stage. I was  . It's bad enough real creditors chasing for payments but NT Hell? :rotfl: Anyway I told her I paid and she asked for an authorisation number. Yeah right I have that to hand. Anyway I got nasty and told them to make sure they got my work number off their records. She said she didn't realise it was my work number. !!!!!! did she think it was when it wasn't my home. My boss was listening to the whole debacle too.

Neith, I might follow your lead on getting phone numbers removed.

Neith, good plan with the phone number, i did the same thing, it does help! although they do have my mobile number, but i can see whos calling and chose to ignore if i want to!!!
Scared, glad you got your welcome pack, i know its a scary time for you especially with little one on the way, but you are doing the right thing and you will just have to turn the phone off, i have 13 creditors to deal with so your not on your own.

Kelly, I hope you are not still on the phone but I suspect you are. There call waiting times last Friday were 20 minutes. Still no-one can explain why I was suddenly being charged for 2 phones/TV instead of 1. They did of course blame it on the computers. :rotfl:
