I know it sounds weird but i prefer having a key meter for gas and electric. I know it is more expensive but i know how much i have left on both and budget accordingly.

One thing i am finding suprisingly difficult is this NSD.

I prefer key meter for gas as when it runs out and you have no money you just don't have heating!! But the electric is really annoying as it usually runs out when I'm cooking dinner (electric cooker) or when we are out (and the fridge starts to defrost) :D

NSD - yeah they are difficult - especially if you have to catch a bus every day to work!!! :D

I'm so dumb I didn't even work it out that way!!! In that case the amount I have left divided by the days till payday - I'll be fine :T

Wish I'd done this DMP months and months ago!!

I think it is just a different way of doing things. Before if i had money left i would spend it. What on i do not really remember. How sad is that.

Now i allow for the unexpected and it is nice to know that at the end of next month i will have the car tax money all saved.

I find this money saving malarky has changed the way i think about most things. Meal planning and even cooking from scratch. I now enjoy doing these things and even taking the kids up the woods or to the park and having fun that does not cost anything. In some ways the children even seem to enjoy things like that. The other day we went to the beach collecting 'Dolly soap'. They had a great time and we did not spend a penny.

PS. Sorry . Dolly soap is small pieces of smoothed glass you find on the beach. Comes in different colours red, green, white etc. I dont know if anyone else uses that expression or it is just something my DD's have come up with. If it is i will be copyrighting it :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • I have just emailed payplan through just a bank to change the balances for my creditors which adds more on to the debt - I will do a signature when they have done that, my case worker has changed AGAIN!! hope this one replys.

Just a quick question - what is the difference between a DMP and a IVA I know i'm on a DMP but OH seems to think its a IVA nad I can't seem to explain to him why we're not please help!!!

I agree with everyone here about having money left - I have also arranged for my Family credit to be paid weekly so I can budget better - monlthy pay for bills etc and FTC for food and petrol, hope it works. I am going to open some more ING direct accounts for my budgetting money too birthdays clothes etc, what other accounts has everyone else got?

    Hi iadmm.

No expert here but a DMP is a voluntary agreement with your creditors not leagally binding. IVA is the oppostite i believe. No doubt our more learned friends will put me right and give more in depth details.

As for Payplan. Have you made you first payment to them?

I have and was told that i will be appointed a long term case officer soon who will deal with me to the conclusion. It will be that long i will have to put them on my Xmas list :rotfl:

As for savings account i have 4.

1..Savings from unexpected sources. Ie boot sales ebay etc.
    2...Car tax/MOT and maintenance
    3...Xmas and birthdays
4...emergency. This is for school clothes trips etc .

    Hi.

Whilst i am on the subject of Payplan i believe some people have had some problems contacting them.

I have had no problems at all and, for me, Payplan have been excellent.

Just thought i would say that as i would not want to put people off going through Payplan with a DMP.

    Climbing off soap box now.

    I have savings for

car tax etc (although currently without car :()
clothes, prescription, ebay, emergency, presents etc money for me

will soon have one for gas/electric and food - the plan being if I underspend on food then we can actually get a take away!!! And if I save for gas that means in the winter we can have the heating on without worrying about being cold the next day/week when the card runs out ;)
