Smilealot, I retired around three yrs ago at 58. Also left in '79 for 9 yrs to go into social work. I do and I don't miss it. Miss the children but not the stress. Taught all ages over 8 yrs. Jack of all trades master of none
. Part time or supply for last 17 yrs whilst wife is full time. She is now head of a small primary. Two lovely boys aged 14 and 17 yrs. Massive debt built up since '89 when I was made redundant from teaching as a result of new budgets in schools. Do have shares but two main ones are suspended so cannot get at money hence current unpleasant situation of being unable to pay minimums.

Hi dont know if HSBC work the same, but i was in the same position with [STRIKE]Nastywest[/STRIKE]Natwest;) ,i had current account which was overdrawn and loan with them also a credit card, credit card agreed to dmp straight away, but the other two ballances were eventually added together and i was given one new account number, which is the account dmp pay.
It took a while to sort this out, but they agreed to payments once this was sorted.
Hope that helps.
That's what FD have offered to do to mine - merge the CC and OD into one account. I'm still waiting for CCCS to confirm whether I should agree to this or notworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Anyone else having similar things with the different depts?
Cheers

Yep - idenitcal problem. My CC are fine, but the current account takes the loan payment and current account payment and the loan then presents itself tot he current account building up more charges and interest. Am going to reclaim all the charges, but it's very annoying. Now they are saying they want to merge the cc, overdraft and loan into a managed loan (I've said CCCS willl nto like it but am going to ring them today) BUT then I'll be charged interest when I'm not being at the moment with the CC.
Have told them to default and send to a DCA - the woman seemed confused that I'd want this option!!CCCS DMP:Feb 07

They defaulted my current account and added the ballance from it to the amount i owed on the loan.
The two account ( account/loan) now show up as one creditor on my dmp with one ballance and one payment going to them each month.
When i won my bank charges back from the current account it was knocked off the joint amount.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Hi everyone
Not sure if you all remember me but I went off to have a baby!!!! Well I had a beutiful baby girl and it all seems to be going very well, she's managed to keep my mind off our BIG debt problem for a while untill last week I started to get really down about it all again. I just feel that for us it will be a long long long time off before we are debt free (cccs said 57 years as we have 100k to pay back and can only afford to pay £140 to our creditors a month) Most of them have been ok except MBNA they keep asking for £8 instead of £5 but cccs siad that use that trick to keep getting money from you And citi keep saying that they will not stop interest untill they have received finaincial stmt which cccs have sent 3 times, but again cccs said thats another trick they play so they get you to tell you the budget over the phone and then they tell you how much they want. Also LLoyds a complete nightmare as we have loans and over draft with them and they just call all the time asking the same questions.
Even though we are starting to get somewhere with our debt I just feel so down that the debt is so bad that it will be years before we can get out of this. every extra bit of money that we earn will have to go to csss for the next 57 years I just feel I have let my kids down so much, I dont care about myself I just want them to have good life.
Sorry to sound so down, it's so hard when you cant talk to anyone about it as they dont know about the situation.

Morning all.
Bit late today as i have been preparing a HM chicken casserole. That is in the Oven now on slow bubbling away lovely. Dont know what it will taste like though:p
From reading above posts I think the question i had has already been answered. Here goes anyway.
I have 3 accounts with F/Direct. One was my old current account. One credit card account and 1 loan account.
They all have different account numbers and i passed these on to Payplan. Logged on yesterday and all 3 payments have gone into my old current account?
Do F/D take the reduced amounts from my old current account for the CC and loan payments or what?
They also took this months full loan payment from my account even though there was no money there:mad: . This ruffled my slighty ageing feathers somewhat when i saw this as it has put me way over my OD limit.
I did send them a message asking why this had been done and could i close the accounts as i do not want the same thing happening next month. They replied very quickly and asked me to phone a lovely 0870 number. Righty ho fat chance of that. I have emailed Payplan but they have not replied yet.
I suppose this is just to accrue lots of charges and interest before they, hopefully agree, to DMP.
Anyway time for happy monkey to return.
Today i am trying something i have never tried before. A NSD day. So far so good. Been to Sainsbury's and spent nothing :j
Barracade the door and plan some meals should help me achieve my target as i relised the other day i have not had a NSD since i started the DMP.
God that rattled on a bit. Better go.
Hope everybody is well and ankle enjoy your time in Spain

Congrats on the baby girl :T :T :T
I have heard about MBNA. Stick with it .57 years is a worse case scenario and who knows what the future holds.
Nice to hear from you again

oh scared - congratulations on the birth of your baby girl. Please, please don't feel down abou the debt - you have done a brilliant thing addressing them and this is a fantastic step for your kids future than just ignoring it! the CCCS say ignore the hassle - hard but correct! Yes, now it will take you 57 years, but no doubt your circumstances will change and you can up your payments. Other things might change and then it'll be paid off even quicker. Once all the kids are in school, you could start a little parttime work etc or even before then can sell things on Ebay etc and bring in that little extra to make things a little easier, be able to afford a little holiday etc (you don't have to declare it all to CCCS if it's a one off income - I spoke to them this morning about this!!).
Above all, relish the time with your kids - I feel like I've missed out on my ds's first year (perhaps a combination of PND, debt worry, relationship stress etc) and would hate for the worry of the debt to spoil this precious time for you. I hoep this doesn't so funny - it's not meant to!

MBNA are the only people to write to me and accept the DMP so far.
A few more to go yet! I'll call Payplan next week if I don't hear from any more.
Good news is, the badgering letters have ceased almost completely. (Touch wood. Bet there are 5 there when I get home tonight!)Debt
