Oh hell, everything seems to have started off rather awkwardly...

I got all my paperwork from CCCS, including the giro slip to pay the first payment in.

Now, looking at it, the DMP is due to start in March - which is what I expected. What I didn't forsee (me being incredibly stupid, I think) is that the first payment should be sent out on the 1st of each month. Now that's gonna be difficult, and due to paying my various creditors, I now do not have enough money in the bank account to send something out immediately. I know they sort out payment with the creditors in or around the 25th of each month, which would allow me to get paid, and pay in the slip straight away, but that's going to be about the 23rd before I send out the money!

And then I have to pay again on the 1st April???

Eep. I'll have a word with them tomorrow about this to see what I can do. I honestly didn't think, and now I feel a bit annoyed with myself for missing this...

If I continued to pay token payments, what would be the possibilities of getting CCCS to delay the DMP start until April - thereby sorting everything out, and my balance would be square?

  • Welcome Bessy - we're all in this together, you're definately among non-judgemental friends!
Joek - I'm sure CCCS will be sympathetic particularly as you only received the paperwork today and they usually expect payment 1st + you've made goodwill payments this month already!
Have logged on to CCCS thought I could set up my dd on line but have to send it off (doh!) will do that tomorrow.
No start date for work but its early days, guess it will be after Easter now! Take care all - I know I keep saying it but thanks for keeping me sane!!

Sea, don't feel guilty at spending money. You have to do it sometimes. Sounds like you have been to Clarks. If so you could sell the pair your son has just grown out of on Ebay. It seems Clarkes shoes do ok on there. Wish I'd known that years ago.

Looks like we have all been ringing CCCS recently. Good to hear you have got your login sorted out.

Thanks - i have kept the Clarks shoes to do jsut that! The are in quite good nick too.

Bessy - welcome! And also to all the others who have joined today :)

    Hi Everyone.

My second day on this site as a member. I too am starting a dmp in April, Debt massive 100k but at least I am now trying to deal with it. I have had some calls today from John lewis but was out. They have got my letter from cccs so what do you all think I should say to them??

My main worry is they will all start knocking on my door as I have elderly parents living with me and I don't want them to know as I know they would feel partly responsible, they have only state pensions to live on!!

I am so worried no one will accept the dmp and never leave me alone, I feel so alone with all this, Hubby is great but does not do the sit down talk about it bit and I just lay awake at night with all these worries going round in my head.

Sorry to whine, I just can't shake this feeling that everyone know and judges me (rubbish only me, hubby, you and cccs know) its the guilt I suppose?

Good luck to everyone starting this month.

    Hi guys

Welcome to our humble abode Franny, Bessy and Neith - it's great to have you here.

Neith, as far as I know, they can't come your door without going through several channels first, so I wouldn't worry too much (although my word certainly isn't gospel!). I completely understand about not being able to sleep and it whizzing around your head. I feel mentally exhausted at the moment - there is always a phonecall to make, post to check, worrying to be done. I think we all feel like that, which is nice in a way, because we don't mind each other getting it off our chest. Hang on in there.

teecee - how do you feel after your cry? Hope you're okay.

I called the Co-Op today because I was really annoyed that I hadn't heard anything from them regarding my new bank account. They gave me the account number etc and said the card is in the post - woo hoo! The only thing is the woman told me the reason for the delay was due to manual credit checking. They had to fax my credit details etc to different people and get my application checked thoroughly because of my history. I was angry at this as I was told in branch that no credit checking was necessary, because it was only a basic account (Cashminder). So do all banks credit check for basic accounts, even although no credit is involved? I can understand them wanting to check for fraud, but even still. Anyway, they let me open it, so it's all systems go.

I finally got to speak to Payplan and will send my final docs tomorrow. First payment goes to them on 24th March, but it takes 10 days to be received then god knows how long before it gets to the creditors.

I'm so tired at the moment, think it's because this is consuming my thoughts 24/7, as well as something else that's on my mind. Of course it least I'm moving in the right direction, but it's still so worrying, eh? And I still need to get into the way of budgeting. Sorry for moaning guys, I know I'm having it easy know compared to you.

Got so much school work to do but need sleep. Best get on with it I guess.

    Speak soon.

Hi - welcome!! Regards to John Lewis - just tell them you're doing aDMP with CCCS and give them your ref number. Ask to be contacted by letter only after this conversation. I think it's a while before they would come to the door, and they might accept the payments anyway! :)

    Hugs to you
