Just found the posts. No we don't own a property. We rent - house prices are too high and there's no way we would have got a mortgage anyway as OH had no work for months!! ;) Although my own debt is similar to their joint debt!!

And I am doing the DMP. Spoke to CCCS yesterday - they are sending the bits through so all systems go for May. Fingers crossed that they all accept the DMP. Spoken to Mint Credit Cards, GE Money when they rang and told them. Both seemed fine. Guess next to phone will be First Direct, and Mint Loans.

Just need to see the debt stop increasing. I posted on the other NewlyWed's thread - I tried everything I could, all the advice from here, but if I made minimum payments we still had to use credit to get food, petrol, gas and electric. Bad innit?

Feels weird this month having almost all my money still in my account. Have set up a spreadsheet with all the budgets from CCCS and how much I've spent from each area each day and then it gives me the amount left ;)

This time I will be organised and I WILL deal with my debt - with CCCS's help of course! ;)

Having a few really down days though (other than about the DMP).

No car. Spending lots of money on buses. Walking lots. Carrying shopping too far.

But worst of all, our first wedding anniversary is coming up and OH isn't convinced at spending £80 on two nights away :( I said I'd try and see if I can borrow my brothers car for the weekend (they have two) but OH isn't convinced we can even afford that - even with my ebay sales. He's quite fussy on hotels though and not sure he'd do a B&B.

But it's our FIRST anniversary. I don't want it to be a normal weekend where we work all week, have the kids all weekend and I cook all weekend. It should be special.

  • goodevening everyone,

Had a mixed bag of post today,Northern rock are not reading the letters we are sending .One of our biggest creditors Tesco write and told us that Payplan had written to them and that they are waiting for an offer from them.Cahoot had recieved our letter and they are waiting to recieve paperwork from Payplan. So it's not to bad today, early days though.

How long does it take Payplan to give all the creditors the info they need?

    HI all :hello:

Hugs to those who are struggling at the mo - and eek at the earthquake! What a shock.

Been getting a few nasty surprises in the post, but hopefully have sorted those with Barcalycard and also need to sort another DCA letter that is about an old homechoice (cable) box - that I've sent back - grrr.

Can't possibly catch up with all but hope all have a good Sunday - I'll try and write more, but sometimes can only read how people are going. Sorry abotu that.

    Hi guys!

I've just come back from a lovely day up North with one of my old friends. Cost me a train fare, but I really needed some space and to spend time with a friend this week, so I'm treating it as medicinal and taking it out of my prescriptions etc budget!!

    - Hope the letter helps. Please check the spelling and grammar as I wrote it very quickly one day (whilst drinking a bottle of ALDI cider to steady the old nerves!). Hope it makes sense.

YM - Sorry to hear about the earthquake, what a nightmare. I haven't seen the news yet, so will look it up online. Scary stuff.

    - I'll get my thinking cap on for 1st anniversary ideas, don't worry, we'll think of something special.

Hi to everyone else, hope your weekend is going well.

    TOKEN PAYMENT LETTER

Just in case this may be of some use to any newbies. Please feel free to do the old copy and paste thing.... (disclaimer - I wrote this from scratch and I'm not a professional financial advisor, so please check with one if you are concerned about exactly what to say!).

    Hope it helps,

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Account Number: YOUR LOAN/CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT NUMBER

I regret to inform you that I unable to maintain the current monthly payments on my account because I have entered significant financial difficulty and have therefore cancelled my Direct Debit. However, I have sought professional advice regarding the best way for me to continue to pay my debts.

I am currently in the process of setting up a Debt Management Plan with PayPlan/CCCS (case number: YOUR CASE NUMBER), who will be contacting you very soon with more details. I am very keen to resolve my issues and wish to maintain a good relationship with my creditors, as I have been a loyal customer who has always made regular payments and managed my account sensibly. I fully intend to repay all of my debt. I have contacted all my creditors to offer a token payment until my Debt Management Plan is fully operational. Please find enclosed a cheque for £HOWEVER MUCH. I apologise that I cannot make the full payment due this month.

I would be very grateful if you would hold action on my account and suspend interest and other charges to prevent my indebtedness from increasing.

Please contact me in writing if you require any further information.

Thank you in advance for you co-operation.

    Yours faithfully,
