rayday, onamission,Sweety - The numbers are sorted by Kelly who started this thread, next time she logs in I'm sure she will sort you out.

Nikki -Welcome and big (((((((((hugs))))))))) to you!

First thing to remember is your health, the health of your baby and the welbeing of your family are whats most important!! You are not a failure you are a person who has become overwhelmed by their debts

I put the reason for debt as "overcomitted on credit" because thats what I was I had so much debt and eventually couldn't even afford food because of the size of my minimum payments.

This happened gradually over a period of ten years, it just kept creeping up until I couldn't deal with it any more.

You must take care of yourself!!!

The debts will be dealt with it may take a long time but you have made the first very brave step to becoming debt-free.

I have had no nasty letters or phonecalls from anyone, it has all gone very smoothly for me. I know that this is not always the case but if you do get calls , simply say you are in the process of setting up a DMP with payplan and give them your reference number and tell them to only contact you in writing from now on. Be firm but polite. I am with CCCS but I believe they are very similar to payplan. If there is anything you are not sure of give them a ring they will explain things and put your mind at rest.

Please don't make yourself ill, you have nothing to be ashamed of you didn't kill anyone!!!

  • forgot to say,
nikkijp.....please dont worry.i know its easy for someone else to tell you that.i was really near the end when i started here.you dont have to tell your creditors the reasons, just say that your income has been vastly reduced and you cant afford to make the min payment.you can do your own dmp or start with cccs or the others.im with cccs.they send you a letter which you duplicate and send to all the creditors with an offer and pay cccs an affordable monthly payment which cccs have worked out you can afford and cccs distribute it to them all so you dont need to worry.most creditors will accept your offer, and if they dont ,they pass it to an agency who accepts.
if they keep ringing, just say youre with **** on a dmp, give them your ref no and put the fone down.
this is not worth risking your health for and you are not a bad mother cos you are getting everything sorted, and you care about your family.
hope all goes well and keep in touch.regards.xx
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

    Greetings.

Good grief. For those of you who teach for a living you have my utmost respect. DD's 6th B/Day party went well but trying to entertain 32 children  . You must have the patience of a saint to teach :rotfl:

newlywed Sorry to hear about the car. I know that my cambelt needs changing in my Volvo (161,000 miles ) but cannot afford it at the moment. Living on a prayer every time i drive.

ilgd and teecee We all have bad days. I felt like it myself this morning when i got up. Had a coffee in the back garden. Sun was shining, birds were singing. Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at what we have. ie family and children and the little pleasures in life that cost nothing. It put it in perspective a bit and made me realise that what i face is not life threating (It is after all only money). Old cliche but i feel it is true.

    Welcome to the newbies

sweety well done for posting. Takes a lot of courage. Try not to worry about the phone calls/letters. Start my DMP 1st May. Missed minimum payments last month. Yet to have any hassle. Sent covering letter explaining i was entering into DMP with Payplan. So far so good.

nikkijp. As ilgd said you do not have to explain how you got into this debt. They are not Jeremy Kyle they only want your money.

onamission I am sure Kelly will be along soon with your number.

rayday Welcome. You sound an old hand at this and in the posts you have done so far your advice has been excellent.

No post for me today. Only spent £1 on car parking. Can not remember the last time i spent less than £10 a day.

Thanks for the kind words, you're right it does us all good sometimes to focus on the good things we all have in our lives.
Feel much better just getting off my chest, don't know what was wrong with me it all gets a little too much sometimes.

Hope you are well and Well Done on your spends today. I have had DD at home sick from school today so have not been out at all. So a NSD day for me today!!;)

Argh childrens birthday parties what a nightmare! I have a joint one in July coming up means my sister does nothing but turns up but heyho! We have my youngest daughter who will be 2, my nephew who will be 3 and my eldest daughter who will be 11 - I have not sat down to work out how many children that will be coming along.

Thank you yellowmonkey but less of the old lol! I think I would rather be an old hand at winning the lottery it sounds a little more fun. ;)

    rayday2.

    Did not mean old :rotfl:

I am one of the oldest members on here and indeed have only recently updated sig to take off the oldest DMP mutual member

Talking of bithdays next month i have my eldest DS (15) and 4 days later youngest DD (4).

Oh the joys of birthday partys for the young ones. 15 is a tricky age. You are lucky if you get a 'grunt' for a response and ,my god, what is that music they listen to. My god i have turned into my parents
