    Hello everyone

Don't know if the PPI was automatically cancelled on our loans or not. Must check up on that one cos if they haven't that would reduce our debt on those ones certainly.

Teecee - I'm gonna have to join you on sorting out the house. Made a start couple of days ago with taking all the kids toys out into the garden and going through them and binning all the broken ones. Will sort out further when ready to do a car boot but that will have to wait a few more weeks as still can't get at half the stuff I want to get rid of. Once we have carpet down in one of the rooms we are currently doing up we can decant the stuff out of the other room, finish plastering then painting it, then it is just a matter of getting the electrician back in. Then the kids will both have their own rooms and we can start sorting out downstairs. it has been a long and expensive haul but we are nearly there and the only thing we have to pay for still is the electrician which we were quoted £350 for as a homer. However that was nearly 4 years ago - it has taken us that long - so it will probably have gone up quite a bit.

Joek - I would put the money aside until you have quite a bit then offer it to CCCS saying it was an inheritence or successful bank charges reclaim or something. I would be worried that if you said you had managed to save it they would ask you to increase your monthly payment instead and what if you have a couple of months which aren't so good. I don't know that they definately would do this as I have never had the extra money to offer them but that is what I would worry about.

Congrats everyone else with having creditors accept dmp's. It's another step forward.

We did a large shop today based on a 4 week menu plan with added basics like deodorant, toilet roll etc. As we were going round tesco's filling our trolley it was looking like it was going to be a £200 shop but at the checkout it rang up as £138.18. Plus with various points coupons we added another 588 points to our total. We should now get by with only needing to spend about £5 or £10 per week on things like milk, fruit and veg although that total included enough of those things to last until about Wednesday. If we can continue like that then we should be able to save about £140 off the amount budgeted on our CCCS expenditure summary.:T :j :T

    Hi.

craftingqueen My god you have done well to feed a family of 7 on a max £50:T Should be no problem with you budgeting wise.

teecee I am like you. My payments before DMP were £650. Now they will be £308. It will be nice to pay less but i really must get my head around budgeting properly. Mind you i have set up 2 saving accounts and i will put into them for xmas/birthdays and car tax/mot etc. I do not want to be hit with my car tax and have no money to pay for it as my usual get out (credit card) will not be there.

It is nice to look to the future and know that if I have not got the money I cannot have. I have the usual trappings of a very comfortable home and ,in some ways it will be nice to go out for walks, wood and down the park with my children instead of using PS2/Nintendo etc as babysitters. I can see myself coming out of this a stronger person and a better Father and Partner.

It will be nice to have the theme park days out once in a while but it will be nice to get back to the family days of old that i can remember when we only went camping in the UK but the fun and memorys are with me still..

    Sorry went astray there.

    Thanks

    YM

We used to buy the car road tax stamps but haven't done it for a few years. Decided to start doing it again earlier this week and DH went and bought a couple except they have changed. They are now post office savings stamps and can be used for more than just road tax. They can be used to pay bills - all ours are DD so no need there - but they can also be used to buy vouchers for places like woolies, argos etc and premium bonds. So we will continue to buy them to save up for the tax and vouchers which will help with putting aside for Xmas.

I must admit that the TV and PS2 have been very handy babysitters but now the nice weather is kicking in they have been quite happy to come out with me when walking the dog especially if we go via the park. Haven't tried camping with this dog yet - looking forward to it but as she is a nutter desparate to have cuddles I can see her ending up in the sleeping bag beside us. DH and I went camping for our first holiday together and had two dogs with us - at least they kept us warm. The children enjoy camping especially on Mull as we camp right at the edge of the beach - basically step out of the tent onto sandy beaches - bliss. Looking forward to it again this year.

DH found Stardrops in Asda yesterday - 58p - haven't tried it yet.

Meant to say YM from what you have posted in previous posts both on this thread and on others you sound like a very down to earth guy with his head screwed on the right way. You should be proud of yourself for what you have achieved so far and I am sure your family think so too:beer:

It is very addictive. I start reading threads that are pages long and find I have to read every single post before I can post myself.. Hate not knowing what is going on - bit paranoid about that really.

Anyway time I headed off to bed. Have to be up early with DS in the morning so going to let the dog out then will switch everything off.

    Night night all, speak tomorrow.

    Hiya everyone.
Just to let you know i am still around and read the thread every day.
Dont really have much to post most days, as now iv been on dmp for 14 months everything is so quite, no post to report or phone calls. You will all be in this position soon by the sounds of things your dmps are going well.

The only thing i can tell you is this months dmp payment has cleared another creditor!! HORRAY only 8 left now lol, still along way to go, but feel positive that 2 creditors gone in the last year and my gas debt is paid off, also by the end of the month my rent will be back upto date!!
Also won some more charges back from one of my store cards only £30 but every little helps, just waiting for statments from my natwest credit card and i will be starting that claim off too. To date iv won £1143, not bad for a few letters!!
    Have a good day everyone

Hi everyone. This is my first post so please be gentle with me!

We are starting a DMP with CCCS soon. I was going to try to manage one myself but it is just too overwhelming! We have about 8 creditors 5 of which are reasonably small amounts, 3 of which are larger personal loans and credit cards. We remortgaged a while ago to try and consolidate but didn't work. We made a £6000 overpayment to one loan which left about £2500 outstanding. The comp has written to us saying we can leave the payment there or request a refund and continue with payments. So...... should I request a refund, pay off the smaller creditors with it and just have the three big debts on the DMP or leave it there and have them all on the plan?http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/smilies/confused-smiley-013.gif
I hope this makes sense and would welcome any advice.
    Thanks,
    Lisa
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. :D
