hi everyone
Hoping you all are having a good day.Does anyone have any ideas about charging to the house. Was feeling O.K this morning nothing bad in the post this morning. But after reading another thread on charging to the house, now i'm back to worrying thats gonna happen to us as our debts are will over £50k... and with creditors like LLOYDS,TESCO,EGG etc..
thanks for listening needed to get it off my chest.Proud to be No. 61 in the DMP mutual support group.0 -
Hi
craftingqueen i also read that thread and must admit it was quite worrying even though I do not own my own house. I think it was the bit about the courts coming down more in the favour of the creditors now. Hey Ho !
Thought i would share this with you before i go out for the day.
Recieved a letter today from Welcome solutions offering me a loan. Nice especially when the interest is 59.7%
Are these people real !!!!!

Thanks, I have been a MSE observer for a few years now and have found tons of advice and motivation. Finally feel like we are going to get to grips with things now. Think the main problem was underestimating how much we actually spend in dribs and drabs through the month. But got a budget now and gonna stick to it!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Hi everyone. This is my first post so please be gentle with me!
We are starting a DMP with CCCS soon. I was going to try to manage one myself but it is just too overwhelming! We have about 8 creditors 5 of which are reasonably small amounts, 3 of which are larger personal loans and credit cards. We remortgaged a while ago to try and consolidate but didn't work. We made a £6000 overpayment to one loan which left about £2500 outstanding. The comp has written to us saying we can leave the payment there or request a refund and continue with payments. So...... should I request a refund, pay off the smaller creditors with it and just have the three big debts on the DMP or leave it there and have them all on the plan?http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/smilies/confused-smiley-013.gif
I hope this makes sense and would welcome any advice.
Thanks,
Lisa
Hi LIsa and welcome
It depends on what the apr's are on each of the debts. If the one you could have a refund on is a lower apr than the others then yes I would say it may be worth it but if it is a higher apr then leave the money where it is and just work away at your other debts albeit more slowly.
Speak with CCCS too as paying the smaller ones off may upset the larger ones iykwimThe person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Only on just now as received a letter from scottish gas this morning. They want to increase our monthly DD to £60 from £35. This is based on what we used over the 3 coldest months of the year so obviously we will use less over the rest of the year so it should balance out. Tried phoning their complaints dept this morning but was holding for 20 mins and still no answer, so put the phone down and tried customer service. This time was told there was a 25 min  wait so put phone down again. Have just rung again and been told there is a 10 min wait so I'm typing this while waiting. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Well it took 27 mins to get through to them - so much for their 10 min wait. Hate to think how long I would have waited this morning when they were telling you it was a 25 min wait (2 hours????)
Then spent a further 25 mins arguing with the guy. Basically for the next 3 months anyway I HAVE to pay £60 a month then they will look at it again   We have the price protection 2010 which is apparently the cheapest around so no point in switching.
Will have to look at the rest of our budget and see if we need to inform cccs or if we can cope until Oct when our review is due. Council Tax went up by £15pm as did electric by £5 but with DH's earnings varying greatly it is so difficult to assess.
Anyway off to cut a carpet to size. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
