The Co-Op Cashminder is the one I've applied for. I'm gonna PM a handy document to you that gives you a list. Hold on!Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

I would love to be like one of the old ladies that goes to the PO once a week and gets all their money. No hassle.0

I know. Think I'm gonna buy a tea cosy hat and pretend.
I don't think that a lot of this is our fault. In previous generations people weren't offered all this credit, so the same problems didn't arise. I worry about my future childrens' financial future...
I just realised you apologised for seeming weak - NO NO NO! We are the people you can be weak around (not that you are). We can give you the strength to deal with it all outside of the cyber world.
Oh and you inspired me to add a bit to my signature!Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Thanks for the PM Smilealot.
I have just had a read through. Basically my options are:
Ulster Bank
Northern Bank
Nationwide
Co-op
The first 3 have no switch/electron cards. I know that's a good thing but I still want the security of having it. Co-op have an electron card. However Co-op are linked with Smile who turned me down. That was maybe for a current account I applied for. I can't remember which type of account it was. I was looking online to see if I could apply for Co-op Cashminder but there didn't seem to be a facility. I may approach someone tomorrow.
If I could at least open one account and have my salary paid in there. I could then withdraw/transfer OH's once a month and put it in there.0 -
Sounds like a plan Ex. I'll warn you though, it's been ten days since I opened my account in the branch and my cards still aren't through, but I think this is normal. I know what you mean about having the Electron card, that's why I went with Co-Op. On the upside, you don't have to pay charges on websites like Ryanair with an Electron card, unlike Visa, Mastercard and Switch!
I think you'll be okay with the Cashminder, it's different from the Smile current account. I was told there would be no credit checking.
Let me know if you go for it xMember #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Ex-Spendaholic wrote:To be honest Hellifax were the first creditor I contacted. I phoned them back in November to ask if I could pay £50 a month for 6 months until I got back on my feet. I planned to do this will all creditors. Hellifax told me they wouldn't consider it unless I went with CCCS or Payplan which surprised me.
Hi Ex
To be honest this reaction from Hellifax (Love it!) doesn't surprise me. We started our DMP two years ago, and got agreement from all our creditors bar Hellifax. They refused to take us on unless we went with a third party (they didn't recognise National Debtline, who we used) which was impossible now that all our other creditors agreed!
Once I finally managed to convince them they had to take me on they then refused our plan because they felt our childcare costs were too high, despite sending them proof via an invoice. Apparently their computer said it was too much above the national average! Being the one paying this costs, I was aware of that!!! Finally, after many calls and letters we got the plan, but not before they charged me £175 in charges and interest. In the two years I have had the plan, payments of £285 have reduced my balance by £54. I wish I had the cash just to pay them off and get rid of them forever! In the two years we have increased our payments from £6.36 a month to £20 a month, and they always want more!!!
Sorry if this sounds discouraging, but I really just wanted to say that they are likely to play hard ball, so you have to be prepared to play it back.
Godd luck with everything.
