Hi guys :hello:
I don't know where I've been all weekend. Think I slipped into hibernation and slept through it all (so tired - end of term). Anyway, I decided to treat myself and go to the cinema with a friend tonight (I'm 25 and spend NO money on socialising, therefore my social life is suffereing badly!). It cost £6.20 for a ticket!!! And that's in the north of England. Couldn't believe it - daylight robbery. And don't get me started on the cost of the drinks etc....
My friend pays for a monthly cinema ticket. It's £10.50pm. I though that was really good, under £3 per week for a social life again. As long as I go to the cinema twice a month I'll have got use out of it. What do you think? I feel bad, but I'd happily try to cut my food bill down a bit to compensate.... hmmm. Advice needed!
Sorry, might seem trivial, but trivial is a light relief to us lot sometimes!
P.S. What happened in Corrie.
P.P.S. Joek, I'm in the same boat re token payments this month - decided not to send.Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

smilealot If you think that you would use the monthly ticket go for it. :j we need a treat sometimes.
Kevster glad to here from you, but you still sound very down. Im only just starting my DMP made my first payment on Saturday. So cant really advice you on anything. Im expecting it to get a lot worse, at the moment though I feel like a weight has been lifted. Does your family know about your sittuation and are they supporting you? Like they have said on here they cant have what you have'nt, stick to your guns!0 -
Hiya everyone.
Sorry iv not popped in for a while, hope everything is going ok for you all???
Iv had a good week, finally cleared the gas debt of the meter!!! So thats £9 a week extra spare, this months dmp payment just left the bank this morning and that will take my overall debt below 20k!!! So another milestone reached for me.
My sister came to stay for a few days ( to go my grans funeral) and she bought me some shopping so a few more £££ saved there.
My aims for April are to clear the rent debt approx £200 ( this was included in my dmp but iv slipped behind again!!) and buy hoilday clothes for ds2 who is off to Malta with his grandad in May.The other boys going next year due to School SATS exams this year.
Have even started giving the boys pocket money as off this week, they are thrilled, but budget going that well really wanted to start doing this to give them a sense of money and responsibility.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all
On a positive note - just checked my online building society and 1st cccs dd came out (yay), (1st cccs paid at post office 01/03) so delighted thats all gone through.
On negative side - just checked hsbc online and they've paid out 2 loan payments of £365.47 ( £730.94  )!! Taking my o/d up to £2301.15:mad:  , they won't let me cancel the dd for the loan cause its with them, but I've no doubt they will return both payments and then charge me for the privelage    !! The loan already received the first payment from cccs as has the cc and the current account - so it seems HSBC still remaining blinkered and refusing to acknowledge CCCS   . The sooner they default me the better. They'll get the vank charges letter today too bet that will please them   . Anyway ho hum such is life!!
Love to you all.

Morning all!
DLB - well done you! Sounds like a great start to the week!
In debt - sounds like similar things to what happened with me...Although I didn't have a DD with the old Barclays account - there were a number of attempts by my other creditors to try to take their monthly payments - which went out and then back in immediately. Even though I'd cancelled the DDs online!
I'm seriously thinking that the next step is to sort out all the bank charges...over 6 years, I must have accrued hundreds of £s - worth!
The only thing I'm a bit worried about with this would be that now Barclays have defaulted the old account, getting them to send out all my statements might be harder than usual! We'll see!
But I hope the day goes better for you (at least that first CCCS payment came out)

Morning guys,
Sorry to hear about HSBC IDA. Hopefully they'll default you sooner rather than later (who would have thought we'd look forward to being defaulted?!).
dlb - well done you. Bet your sons are loving the pocket money. Hope your son gets on okay with the SATS. I'm going in to teach my year 9 classes some extra revision sessions over the next couple of days. I get far more stressed about the exams than what my kids ever do!!
Joek - I'm thinking the same about the charges. I guess I shouldn't think about doing it until they have accepted the DMP, but even still, what if they turn nasty and kick up a fuss?
teecee - Were you the queen of carbooting again yesterday?!
Sea - please say you haven't started that pile of marking yet?! I can't bring myself to do ANYTHING school related (apart from my tutoring of course).
Hi to everyone else, hope you have a toptastic day :TMember #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Morning everyone
Hope all had a great weekend, spent most of mine trying to sort out my gardens,(god I hate gardening!!!)
smilealot - No carboot for me this weekend, decided to give myself a break and have a lie in.:o
I say go for it with the cinema ticket, it's so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you can't have any treats if you are dealing with debts, but we all need something to keep us going and if you start to feel that you can't do anything because of your debts I think that makes falling of the wagon in a big way more likely!!! So enjoy and don't feel guilty, the debts are being dealt with and having a life is not a crime!!!!
donna - Well done, I've given my DD some pocketmoney this week as she is on school holidays. Saved £20 on my food budget for march so figured I could give her some of that. I think it's important for her to have her own money sometimes as she is much more loathe to spend if she knows she can only afford so much rather than ask me for it all the time.
Mind you bless her she's only 8 and gets up at 5am with me to carboot and even has her own little table where she sells her stuff. She loves to make money and she too is going away with grandparents this year but not til october so she is saving all her carboot earnings for extra spending money in spain.
Hope everyone has a brilliant day, think I've got to go and finish my back garden!DEBTS @ 1/1/07 - £25,800:eek: DEBT @ 04/05/11 - NIL

hiya
smilealot go for the cinema ticket at 25 (or even 105) we deserve a social life. Re Corrie question (now remember this is serious stuff - please no mickey taking), Tracey Barlow was humiliated by Charlie Stubbs so as an act of vengance she wooed him back, then she fooled other people into thinking he was abusing her, finally (after what seemed an age  ) she killed him in "self defence". She was charged with murder and eventually admitted to her mum (Deidre) that it WAS premeditated murder and expected her to speak in her defence, Deidre struggled in the witness box (neck vein popping) and now Tracey hates her because "you're my mum and you're supposed to protect me thats your job" (yeah right - stop groaning this is serious!!) As we speak the jury are out and the verdict is tonight, in true soap opera tradition 2 endings have been filmed so we have to wait and see!! But if justice is to be done then Tracey needs to be SENT DOWN!!!
See what debt has done to me ...... I've become a Corrie bore (omg is there a cure) mind you atleast it is only Corrie (though I like Dr Who, Life on Mars (go the 70's) and I'm a real LOST freak - ) but I hate Eastenders and Emmerdale!!
Teecee I was gardening at the weekend I prefer that to cooking although I'm not very good at either!!
Joek go for the charges - you've nothing to loose and as we keep being reminded its our money not theirs, regardless of default.
Well this post has turned into an epic - please refrain from asking Corrie questions again you may live to regret it if you don't :rotfl: :rotfl: Mind you need to be light hearted otherwise I'd be sobbing!!
Love to you all.
