I tend to think that if I don't know the answer, rather than just posting "Sorry I dunno" and increasing the thread size, I leave it thinking someone who does know will post in a bit....

Sorry if that makes you feel abandoned.

hi all - gosh lots of good messages today! Sounds like big progress being made today :)

I'm up to my eyes - literally!- with ebay stuff - got to take 13 parcels to the PO and then come back, wrap a huge awkward thing and somehow carry that to the PO too!

Smilealot - Not done a thing!! And won't do probably until next Sunday in mad depressed panic about not doing anything despite knowing it was there - always the same!! :o I think you should go for the monthly ticket - make sure that you go at least 3 times and also it'll help you stay on track a little more as you'll feel like you're having a life!! Something I don't feel like at the moment and it's making me feel old - but will probably post more about that later.

dlb - well done on clearing the gas debt :T Keep it up!! Have a look on Ebay for clothes - summer bundles are beginning to pop up - or I saw quite a few sales too and Primark has a nice boys section at the moment I saw. Sorry if you don't do Ebay or Primark!!

IDADWI- the exact same thing is happening to me. I rang CCCS about it and they said to let them get on with it and not worry. I'm reclaiming charges from the hsbc current account so will be adding on anymore. It means that the overdraft is now nearly £1000 over what it is allowed to be - although they are cashing my CCCS payments - both into the current account (not the loan?!!) so **** 'em. Gone beyond caring about that as they are stupid.

Teecee- your dd sounds adorable!! how gorgeous is her doing her own little car boot and saving her money! Lovely.

Rustybucket - sorry to hear about Northern Rock - if they try it on again, say that you're recording the phone calls, you only want to be contacted by letter and if they continue to contact you then you will call the police as they are harrassing you. Worth a try? Also a loud whistle is very tempting!!:rotfl:

Lonely - I think that not everyone gets a chance to read the posts - a lot of mine haven't been commented on and also you asked quite a few that seemed specific to people who haven't posted again on the board. Please don't take it as being against you as I think pretty much everyone gets posts ignored/answered in the course of the day. I have a Visa Debit card from LlyodsTSB and there is no problem but I got this before my credit went up the wall - went in and spoke to an accounts manager - she had no idea why I didn't want a credit card and overdraft as well. Kept pushing it.
My creditors haven't got in touch with me on the whole since contacted by CCCS - only 4 out of 7 have actually sent me statements, letters, default notice etc. You might receive nothing, which is god as it shows more likelihood of acceptance than contact. You coul dfollow Ex's example and contact them all yoursefl to find out?

EX- how you doing? Not seen much from you this weekend?

95Kelly - :hello: Where are you? Hope all good!

Kevster - Glad to hear things are going ok, grrr at LloydsTSB - so stupid, aren't they?!!

Joek - any more post today?

Scottishmummy - sounds like you had a wonderful day - and what a bargainous day you had!

YellowMonkey- how are things going? Good luck this week - hope the creditors are all quiet and jst write to tell you they've accpeted!! ;)

Another gorgeous day here - am going to swap the line washing over and go out to the PO before I get buried alive by the towering parcels!

Big hugs:grouphug: to anyone having a bad day.
I'll be aback with a :coffee: and a biscuit later for a chat :D

    hi all,
just thought i would let you know its my sons birthday today and hes 13!!! so i must be doing something right.
had call from mint loans asking if i could increase £5 cccs payment to £25 (i know its a drop in he ocean as i owe them £5700!!).told them im ill and have 13 creditors and trying to be fair.they were very courteous(which surprised me) and said unfortunately further action would have to be taken, so will have to wait and see what they do.
if it goes to a debt collection agency, can they put more charges on or do they have to agree with the original balance?the loan was over 5 years at either 5.9% or 6.9% but it worked out that i would have paid 60 x £98.36. so could they put more intwerest on for taking a long time to pay back?felt bad cos only paid the first payment in jan07 then told them i couldnt afford it anymore(original loan was £5000,forgot to say).
would be grateful for advice if anyone knows.thanks
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

Blimey Sea - that was a mammoth post!! Are you taking teecee's tip of writing stuff down as you read? I need to do that, as I've just read today's posts and forgotten what I wanted to say, so will need to write three replies to cover it all, whilst popping back the pages :rotfl:

Glad to hear you haven't done anything too, makes me feel less guilty :T I'm teaching tomorrow and Wednesday though for some extra pennies - woo hoo!

Well done on your Ebaying... I feel a new name coming up "Sea, the Expert Ebayer"!!! I've sold 14 things this weekend, really pleased, more on the go. I've been using the Turbo Lister, but it still takes me ages

Thanks for the advice amani, IDA, teecee and Sea regarding the cinema ticket - think I might go for it :j

Hi rustybucket - I love the swimming in treacle metaphor (is that right?!). Sorry to here about the calls. Have you checked with Payplan about the payment start date? Maybe then you'll have something concrete to tell the creditors?

Lonely, I don't want to sound mean, but I think we all need to take a reality check for a minute. This is an interactive forum, none of us really know each other and I really resent the suggestion that "secret cliques" have been set up. I'm sorry, maybe I should bite my tongue, but I feel really quite offended by your suggestions and have to say something. Yes, some of us have been on here longer than other, but that does not stop us welcoming new members (as I'm sure the likes of Joek and Yellowmonkey etc will vouch for this - sorry guys for bringing you into this). You have to remember that many of us work all hours in our "normal" lives. The only reason I'm on here is because I'm on Easter holiday. Normally, I don't log on until 11pm ish because I have so much school work to do before then, and the people I end up chatting to are those who are generally on at the same time. It may appear therefore that that circle of people have made stronger links, but if you were on at that time you would also be welcomed into the conversations. Also, you can imagine how many posts have built up within the 48 hours I've been offline for - I (and many others) simply do not have the time to trawl through them all. I have many other things to be doing just now, I don't feel I need any specific support, but I am on here to provide others with support. We are all in the same boat, and as someone else said (newlywed or Valley Girl?), we don't always know the answers to eachothers questions. As Sea said, we all have posts ignored. If it is a burning issue, we simply repost or start a new thread on the main forum. Four (including amani!!) people responded to my query about the cinema ticket, many other did not – that is what I would expect.

Please understand that this is only my view on the matter. I apologise if I have offended you or anyone else with this posting, but I felt so strongly I had to write it. We all spend so much time helping each other, whether it's through serious advice or simply trying to make someone laugh if they are having a down day. If you require one-on-one attention perhaps you need to contact qualified advisors such as CCCS/Payplan/National Debt Helpline/Citizens' Advice Bureau - they are paid to provide these services, we are simply trying to hold our own affairs together while hoping to help some people in a small way while we are doing it.

    EDIT:

Lonely and I have now made our peace through the powerful medium that is soap operas...! Tensions run high when we are having up and down days. It is great that we can come on here and vent our frustrations, whilst still regarding each other highly for the support we offer. Anyway, who's up for a Corrie dissection this evening?!

Right, I've gone through today's posts so far and written down what I want to say (sorry if I've missed someone!).

Lonely - Cineworld do the monthly card for £10.99 (apart from West London where it's a bit more), can be used up and down country - bargainous! Dunno about the rest, maybe check on the website? Where do you live? That's good about your Amex thing being sorted. Are your other creditors okay about the reduced payment for these months? £1000pm - blimey! Mine are getting just over £150 in total!!! No idea about the timelag between setup and acceptance, I think you are a step or two ahead of me. As for normal Visas, I don't think it's possible on a dmp, as it's effectively like having credit. The difference between that and an Electron card, is the Electron does not let you pay for anything unless the whole amount on money is in your account, the normal Visa Debit one will take it out regardless (hence all of my bank charges!). I know what you mean about some places not taking it, my bugbare is thetrainline.com, but it just means I need to pay it in cash at the train station - not as convenient, but small price to pay to get me out of this financial nightmare (in 15 years :rotfl: ).

Newlywed - Well done on selling the bureau :T How are you getting a current account with? Having you tried calling to chase them up? Remember to transfer your salary asap - they might be able to give you the account number and sort code over the phone? Can I ask - what is fixture ferret?!??! Sorry for being unknowledgeable!!

Hi Valley Girl! How are things?

Sorry again I don't get to speak the the day time crew, I'm usually part of the nightshift

Hi ilovegreatdanes, again don't think I've spoken to you yet - meeting lots of new people on the daytime shift! Give a big birthday hug to your son for us :bdaycake:

Not sure about the Mint situation. From what I've read from other peoples' posts, they seem to get less hassle from debt collection agencies in some cases. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you - keep us updated!
