Yippee, well done Tammy, you're doing brilliantly. Do you have a date for moving into Tumbledown?

I've been over to my old house this morning (moved to my 'forever home' at the end of Feb) and was amazed at how much they've done there - mind you, I've had lots done here.....but it gave me some ideas of colours for the walls. Just need to get the big jobs done first before I can start saving for decorating! (Oh and stop wasting money, minor issue!!)

    hi Kittikins

Yes I have a moving in date on May1st but can go in the Thursday or Friday before, Landlord has said I can have the keys to go in and paint and do as he says " the bits wome:Dn have to do ".

Mostly its not dirty just dusty and unloved, last tenant was in there a long time and loved to go to Spain for long visits so really its the garden that needs attention and some vinyl flooring in the bathroom. Vinyl for there costs about £30 for a roll end and £55:eek: to fit, am thinking rip up old vinyl and use that as a template, thats one of the first jobs and general painting to freshen the place up and get a window cleaner up a ladder to clean the top windows, I can clean the other ones myself.

One of the delights of this cottage is that it had subsidence years ago and was underpinned etc so the floors are quirky and the ceilings low its quaint and unusual inside, but looks like a small detached house outside and will have a lovley garden when Ive finished with it.

I am at best a lazy devil, and in my previous life of money no object would have paid someone to come in and do all the work, and then would go out and buy everything new, then one day life changed, I used to say for the worst but on hindsight it changed for the better, much much better, I found the real me amongst the debris that ensued and yay:T here I am today, older, certainly more wiser, more tolerant and best of all..happy..money cant buy happiness.

I often pop past where the ex OH lives and what used to be my home, it doesnt evoke anything but relief that I am no longer part of it.

I have moved on to peace quiet and having no one to consider in my life and at this point in my life, peace of mind/security of my own front door key is is all that I need at this present moment.

Just need a rescued big fat putty cat to make the dream complete.

Now fingers crossed there's a big black and white cat with massive whiskers out there looking for a forever home with a batty dumpy lady :A yep there is, found him Domino big fat huge whiskered purring machine that's taken over my house life and heart, life's good, as I pander to the whims of my new lodger..:rotfl::rotfl::D:D:p

I had to replace the lino in my bathrooms last autumn (have needed done since I moved in nearly 5 years ago :o but just couldn't justify the money - but I just couldn't face another winter of howling drafts through the gaps in the lino!)

I couldn't believe how much it was:eek: Hope you're lucky & find an off cut that will do.

I lifted my old bits and used them as templates (with a good inch all the way round just in case) and it made a huge difference. They're not perfectly laid but not noticeable to anyone but me!:)

  • FrugalLina. Keep looking to the future I'm a great believer in never giving up on your hopes and dreams. I did a mood book or rather an old scrapbook and when I found a picture that related to my dream I pasted it into the scrapbook, funnily enough over the years my pictures all matched, maybe colours changed, I had sections for my garden to be, plants vegetable plots right through to recipes and imaginary shopping lists. :p oh anything I thought I'd need when the day finally came when I had my dream place to live.

Well that days here, 10 years it's taken, a broken marriage, dark times, depression the list goes on but I've nearly done it.

I have to confess that now I have my home, I'm scared as the realisation is, well on paper anyways it's a finite budget I shall be living on with no room for extravagance and fancy ideas and till I build up an emergency fund I will have to tread carefully.

So boot sale tommorow, up bright and early, flask and sarnies packed, things to sell all priced up and it's off we go. The weather might be the let down though, dull dank and dreary here in the Midlands.

Will let you know the final total tommorow evening, enjoy the rest of the holidays everyone:D

Hi Tumbledown Tammy :hello:- I have subscribed to this thread and look forward to coming along with you on your journey (if you don't mind:D)

Have you read The Secret by Rhondda Byrne - it is all you were talking about earlier and definitely worth a read. I have read it many times and when the mood takes me I just pick it up and open wherever and it always seems to be on the right page for how I am feeling and gives me the answer I am looking for.

Your positivity and happiness exude this thread and I am looking forward to sharing many cups of tea with you.:j

ps good luck at the car boot tomorrow - just think sunshine (well no rain, anyway:rotfl:)
