First thing is to stop thinking that "Money is such a horrible thing" - you will scare it off
-start instead to imagine the flow of lovely money towards you helping you to get your dream home............ betcha it comes.:j
And if that sounds a bit "Airy Fairy" - thats what Ithough, 2 years and 10K ago;) Besides better to have a lovely time working towards your goal rather than be all sorry and depressed about it.

Too true lassie, what you visualize does come to thee. The universe works in mysterious ways but one thing it always does, is bring to you what you see in your future, in your minds eye. Especially with regards to money.
Many years ago I was sat in a small cafe that was 1/2 occupied. I was sat at a table alone, reading a glossy mag (for my sins!) when this weird looking lady walked in (looked like a gypsy and dressed like a gypsy) and without even looking around, she walked to my table and sat down. I looked curiously at her and she said to me "You have a kind face" as she grasped my hand (really! I think my mouth just opened in shock ) and she passed into my hands a small glass bead. She said "I cross your palm with this charm, lose it not, keep it safe and your purse will always be full" and then she stood up, pushed the chair under the table and left! The people around me all heard and saw this and there was silence in that cafe. I opened my hand and looked at the glass bead that she had placed there. This was 18 years ago. I then rubbed it thoughtfully and pondered what had just happened. Was she a mad woman? was she a gypsy? was it magic? and then I got out a mirror and looked at my face - pink lipstick, glamour puss make-up and thought "Kind face? what's she on?" LOL (though I am very kind, its true! lol)
Anyway, to cut a long story short (how did I get onto my glass bead?) I put that glass bead into my purse and it has stayed there ever since. I still have it today, its moved from purse to purse over the years but one thing I decided and my husband said to me later that day when I told him and showed him it, was never to lose it (it may be bad luck!) I could go further into my story here but I won't, suffice to say I have never once since that day had a purse short of money, always what I have needed in my life has come to me, work and dedication plays a part of course, but also a belief in the sometimes unbelievable - faith I think it is called. I had faith in that bead and it has brought much magick into my life and I have prospered in remarkable ways since that day, swiftly and easily.
What I have wanted to come to me has come to me. If she (the OP) has that faith and sees what she needs in her life, the Universe will deliver. That encounter with that strange gypsy woman all those years ago changed my life in remarkable ways and one thing I have always tried to do is to use that kind face she saw to help others when I can. Its the balance of the Universe - what you send out comes back to thee thricefold. That's how I have lived my life since that day 18 years ago. That glass bead is still in my purse, it lives in the coin compartment.
My dream, that I knew would come to me, was a cottage in the country in very specific circumstances and at the time I saw that for myself, there was no hope in hell of it ever happening. But it did, my dream came true, Anything is possible if you believe in yourself, your dreams, you do as much as you can to help yourself along the way and above all else, you have faith that your dream will come true.
Good Luck to the OP - I've subscribed to this thread. Something tells me this lassie will get her tumbledown cottage

hi there,
your plans sound lovely, hoping you get your dreams.
is there any "fixing-up" needed on the cottage?maybe the LL would pay you (or reduce rent) if you agreed to do some work?
could you do any paid dog-walking / gardening / babysitting / shopping ?
any CD's or DVD's you can sell (music magpie are good from my experience)
if you look on ebay for things big items for the cottage you can put in "nearest distance" in the filters, there could be something just round the corner,so no postage / delivery costs.
oh,little tip for when you have moved-have a look on your water companys website-i have just got (for free) a toilet hippo and a new shower head which apparantly make you use less water!for free its worth a go!
good luck, looking forward to hearing your adventure.

Hi everyone and thanks for the above imput
Asparagus1968 no Tumbledown is pretty much fine inside, nothing major needs doing except a good going over the paintwork to freshen it up, its the outside thats unloved.
The front door is UPVC and needs a good clean, some twit painted the stone windowsills cream and they are now peeling but rubbed down can be repainted and the UPVC windows just need some tlc and the glass cleaning.
There is a driveway up the side of the cottage and that extends around the back of the cottage and this gives the appearance of a small enclosed courtyard.
To the right of the driveway is large plot of overgrown grass and in the middle is a lot of lavendar bushes/trees which screens of the back part of this plot so you can hang your washing out etc.
The lavendar tree/bush area is teeming with birds singing all day , it just needs the rubbish removing from underneath but Id like to leave this area pretty much alone and leave it for the birds and bees etc
The gravel driveway has no weed control stuff underneath it so the weeds poke through but not too much.
Tumbledown consists of 2 bedrooms, a dining room, lounge, kitchen and downstairs bathroom and has gas central heating via a combi boiler. Inside is pretty much ok, walls in magnolia and that lovley faded terracotta carpet throughout.
I will need to get some new vinyl flooring for the bathroom.
Dishwasher is up to £36 ON e*bay, leather coat £50 and my posh 2 pair of shoes £8 each so at 10.08pm this evening I have a potential total of £104 less fees p&p etc and there are 5 more days to go, so watch this space.
Have tweeked the meal plan a bit more, and could possibly squeeze another £10 there and as a last resort I have decided that my Samsung plasma tv and surroud system will go if needs be. I can buy one of the older type tvs off e*bay cheaply and I already have the digi box so thats an option open to me. The above mentioned cd/dvd resale site is my next thing to do tommorow.
So ends another day in my quest to get into Tumbledown, nearly there now so near so far but getting closer...
Off to bed to crunch some numbers on my notepad, so till tommorow..cheerio
TNow fingers crossed there's a big black and white cat with massive whiskers out there looking for a forever home with a batty dumpy lady :A yep there is, found him Domino big fat huge whiskered purring machine that's taken over my house life and heart, life's good, as I pander to the whims of my new lodger..:rotfl::rotfl::D:D:p0 -
Hi Tammy - if you're not currently a member of your local freecycle and freegle groups, then sign up asap, nearly every week people give away televisions that look brilliant, just not flat-screen on my local groups.
Keep battling on and Happy Monday

Hi
Todays update isnt very exciting, Im waiting for the E*bay things to finish on Friday then i will have my final total for this week.
Checked around to see what my tv and surrouond system would fetch, not much but enough to cover a shortfall if needed, so need to look forward a bit and see what furniture I need, might need to start another thread entitled How To Furnish Tumbledown Cottage On A Fiver.:D
T:Dhanks for the recommendation to look into Freecycle, I registered with them and offered a few things they were soon asked for, then felt justified in posting a wanted advert for a sofa, so will wait and see if that brings any offers, Freecycle is great concept of recycling now thats right up my streetand Im amazed whats on offer, also asked to be considered for a pine corner tv unit on offer, I can easily rub that down and wax it or paint it, noticed a shabby chic thread on the forums, this MSE forums are full of brilliant money savings ideas and tips.
Im going to do a electric/gas comparison search now so will come on later and update you all on my results.

If you want a really really cheap meal try noodles and cuppasoup. I buy Morrisons own (of both). It's been a while since I bought any but I think the noodles were 12p and the cuppasoups were about 62p (box of 4), so 4 lunch type meals for about £1.20 - 30p each or less.
Not something you'd want to eat every day but once in a while they're fine and no cooking! yay!
Keep it up, you're doing great.

This quest seems something like a fairytale. And don't we just need a few more of those now and again!
Another place to look for larger items of furniture for sale is your local newsagent/shop that has ads in the window posted by locals. We see plenty of things advertised for very little and as they are local you don't have far to go and quite often people will help with getting it to you.
Its very refreshing to see such positive postings and really you are not asking for the world on a plate. I think your quest for tumbledown cottage will come to fruition with your sort of determination and outlook, so here's to you.
With kind regards

Right have managed to post the above totals...
Im well on my way now, just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather holds ok for Monday for the bootsale, should make a few pounds there and if there is a shortfall its goodbye wedding ring and engagement ring they have been my "rainy day" items to sell if things got tough.
I have a sofa and chair now for Tumbledown, have washed the loose covers and it suits Tumbledown decor perfectly, squashed dumpy well worn and clean..hey thats just how Id describe me:eek:
My lovley nephew has offered me a pine tv unit, we will sand the top down and wax it together in the next set of school holidays, we went to Ikea together the other night, and were oohing and ahhhing and taking pics on our mobile phone and dreaming ...lovley thoughts and we will achieve them once he and I have sorted out the innards of Tumbldown our next project is my sisters place. I look after him quite a lot during the school holidays as my sister is a single parent and its nice to payback all the times she has helped me in my life over the past few years, and lets her work without having to pay ridiculous childcare charges plus he keeps me grounded and in touch with youngsters today .
Just need to source a fridge/freezer or a fridge will do then its take over Tumbledown, and start on the garden and the weeds that :eek:dare pop up in the gravel.
After mooching round the MSE boards I have got a notepad full of hints, tips etc from fellow posters that I intend using in my new frugalistic, save the pennies lifestyle, Im looking forward to this lifestyle, by choice as I dont have a vast income and to a more happier non stressed life and with a smile on my face:D:D:rotfl:and to be debt free .
Ok time for my frugalistic lunch, 2p oh yes thats not a typing mistake, I was in Asda last night and got a prepacked Ham and Egg salad for 2p with 2 lovley slices of ham, one boiled egg, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and lettuce mmmmmmmmmmmmm and one of my lovley rolls and butter and small bit of salad cream thats my lunch woo hooo.
Other bargains which I picked up were 2 pork chops for 45p and a couple of packs of mince for a £1 each, thats loads of spag bol/chilli con carne/lasagne to be done for the freezer mmmmmmmmmm;).
So Tumbledowns nearly there, so have a Happy Easter everyone and I shall be back on later no doubt with more ramblings of my life.
