I moved some threads that were way off topic and just a discussion and 2 that were "warnings"
this one has been left here to allow one central thread to discuss iphone/androidHonesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site

Be a fair number of mobile users on this forum .
Hands up those who have malware and where did it come from .
Note HAVE not read it somewhere .
ME Nokia Symbian nope to old probably .
Android 3Years plus and lets say 500 apps from the Google app store tried in that time with No Malware .Plus a few from other stores with no malware .
Yes about 500 apps as so many are free i like to try different variations first or use trial ware first before buying .Plus i run a lot of apps anyway .

Some of us may actually be interested in the pros and cons and various consumer dangers of different operating systems but I feel there are some on this thread that do not have that has the agenda.
For instance is there a particular operating system that is more prone for 'apps' that dial premium rate numbers and if so why?0 -

Perhaps, if it was as true or as rife as the iDiot portrays, neither he you or I have come across anybody that has been affected by malware. Is there a particular OS that is more prone? No, however the the iDiot may suggest it is android (even though he is in his at least 2nd android handset) , windows pc's are prone to virii but many still use them with confidence.0 -
It's incorrect. Android do have higher malwareIs there a particular OS that is more prone? No, .
Only need to search Google for malware android and you will know what os have more malware.
If all OS have the malware then download numbers per OS should be the same, as a % of total users unless either Android OS have more malware then other OS or its users are not so ......
Which one is correct?0 -
Apart from Android fanboy I don't think anyone else will believe that.

Apple's app screening fails as malware app gets onto App Store
LONDON, U.K. -- A malicious app has found its way onto the Apple iOS App Store for iPhone and iPad.
The app, named 'Find and Call' managed to get on the store despite Apple's strict screening process. Kaspersky Lab discovered the Trojan which is widely considered to be the first malware found in the App Store.
The security firm explained that the app was thought to be an SMS worm sending text messages to contacts with a url to the app itself. However, it later found that the Trojan uploads the user's phonebook to a remote server to be used for spam text messages.
Apple said: "The Find and Call app has been removed from the App Store due to its unauthorised use of users' Address Book data, a violation of App Store guidelines."
Find and Call also made an appearance on the Google Play Store but has since been removed by the firm.0 -

I will ask again if what you are saying is true, all mobile os have same number of malware apps, why Android numbers are so high?
It's nice to know that only malware Android Fanboys can find is that one, keep putting the same links over and over, at least with Android you cn find new malware every day. One in 5 years even then got removed quickly, unlike Android version this malware was not able to send SMS to make people pay.
Coming here as an Android user and saying "I don't have malware so this story is fake or an exaggeration" is like me saying cancer and all the attention it gets is fake because I'm healthy and I've never had cancer. Facts are facts and it's obvious there are malware issues on Android.0 -
One malware for ios in five years to 700,000 malware download in 3 months just from Google Play.

One malware is one too many if you are victim of that, most people I know that have died from cancer have never touched a cigarette in their life, so that said choosing a lifestyle just like choosing a product does not make one immune from hazards.0 -
Cost alone does not put me off Apple products (although its up there as the major off put), its their complete lack of open source, and that they dont play my MP3's.
I tend to prefer the ability of having an open source, be it computers or mobile phones, I dont like to be tied to one product and forced into that products source.
Apple are certainly not immune from virus's, but that's the least of my issues with apple products.
The costs and the restrictions are more than enough for me to stick with the relatively cheaper and more user friendly cross platform products out there on the market.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

This is where your arguement is flawed. It's not 1 piece of malware for iOS in 5 years, you're talking about 1 piece of malware making into the the App Store in 5 years compared to Google Play which, as I said in a different thread, is an open system and part of the design opens it up to abuse.
The browsers for Android, iOS, BBOS and others are all based on the same Webkit architecture, meaning they are all open to the same kind of browser exploits. It's not an enormous task to port a piece of malware designed for Android or BBOS to iOS, or vice-versa.
There's one main reason you can point to more Android malware than iOS. Apple's closed book policy on malware security means no exact figures are released. Denial does not equal security.
You can start to level the playing field by moving away from the App Store and focusing on Jailbreak. Then you may start getting some truer figures. Actually, saying that some of the earliest Jailbreak methods was done using a type of malware exploit.
My iPhone gets a lot more use than my Android tablet but I wouldn't be so naive as to think it's secure. If you know anything about IT you should know that anything that can be done, can be undone just as easily. It's all 0's and 1's and if you can switch a bunch of 0's and 1's you can get infected.0
