I was helping out in Tescos petrol station and we got a memo saying stocks are fine don't worry and there will be deliveries until the strike date is announced .
And yes customers coming in asking whats going on whats the queues for there the people who don't watch the news don't read the papers

I don't understand why we have queues at out Tescos right up the road Asda closed but the local BP Texaco is empty

Now Asds ran out but Sainsburys up the road had some but one lady said no I will wait for Asda to get a delivery whats so good about Asds I thought petrol was petrol

Johncas - we're in Leicester, I dont drive but OH does and just asked him if he'd seen any queues (he works near Fosse Park) and he said no. There wasnt any queues at Total in Coalville this afternoon either when I passed it on the bus, neither at BP in Coalville centre. Didnt see any queues at the garages (think they're BP) on the A50 Flying Horse and neither at Markfield services.
Think it must mainly be the supermarkets. We have a Morrisons nearby but I dont know how that's doing... certainly no-one I work with is panicking and I work in a hospital. Storm in a teacup - until something concrete is said neither OH or I is worrying.

The motorway information signs on the M4 are up saying that Magor Services is out of fuel.

    I guess it's starting.

This is ridiculous. Its quite simple - buy fuel when you need it, also known as 'as normal', the end. There'll be 7 days notice of any strike, and said strike will be, what, 3 days at most? So if most stations get a delivery just before the strike they possibly won't run out at all (I've no idea how often the average station gets a delivery).

Our local Tesco's has a delivery probably every day.

The Govt can't win with this one. The general public are, in general, f*cking idiots, so the Govt give sound advice (..."take sensible precautions"..) and its taken as panic stations.

And if they said don't worry about it, and there was shortages, people running out, emergency services having to ration, the Govt would be blamed for not advising people to top up!

Can't blame them for putting taxes up, someone has to pay for all the new walls at 10 downing street from whoever is incharge at the time constantly banging his head against it.

Has anybody read 'Kissing the Gunner's Daughter' by Ruth Rendell? I suggest you do if you wish to stockpile petrol. I quote ' The Thatched House had contained twenty two cans of petrol' - (trouble in the Middle East). The single can of paraffin was surrounded by cans of petrol. Tie a string around a candle (you can guess the rest). The place burnt down with a vengeance killing a woman who live there and badly injuring a fireman. Is stockpiling really worth it? I do not think so!

Who in their right mind would stockpile like that, though?
They were talking about a 'can'. That's something many people have in their garages or sheds anyway to fill mowers & strimmers.
No Government can take responsibility for dinlos who want to cram their places full of flammable liquids.
How many of us have paint pots, cleaning fluids, aerosols & other flammable things in their homes, garages or sheds? At what point do we cross over from being sensible to paranoid?
If the Government was to say we can no longer keep anything flammable there'd be total mayhem with everyone screaming it was a stupid idea.

First I heard of it yet was from my sister on Facebook yesterday, she is low on Diseal and local Tesco had run out and was ranting about the panic buyers.

    Should start reading/watching the news.
