Petrol running low

£93 of diesel in my van today, £67 of petrol in the car.
But to be fair, they were both running on fumes.0 -
only read the most recent posts previously so advance apologies if already mentioned.
Hypothetical scenario:
I have a 4x4 range rover marked as scorn..... I have a separate car for my traveling. What if I used the jerry can to fill up the range rover to the brim (I know requires loads of trips but hypothetically speaking....), and then siphon the diesel from the Range Rover into my regular car when it is running on empty? Legal or not?0 -
Completely legal... why would you think otherwise?0

Just wondering in case everything does run dry.
How do train companies get their diesel delivered? Is it by rail or by road? As all the trains in the area of the country I'm in are diesel powered.0 -

More to the point,
where's the filler cap
can you get a syphon tube in,
is the bottom of the tank exposed?0 -

Ive just had this email from work :
As you are aware fuel tanker drivers are planning a strike over the Easter period 6th April -9th April. It appears that already in certain parts of the country people are already ‘panic’ buying.
As a precautionary measure I would ask you all to keep your vehicles fuelled to the maximum from now until Tuesday 10th April. I suggest you fill your vehicles to the max then top up on a daily basis. Hopefully the strike action will be averted but none the less we need to be prepared.
There should be no additional fuel canisters being carried on vehicles.
We cannot have a situation where we have anyone saying that they have ‘run out’ of fuel. If you have any issues around this please speak to your line manager immediately.
Right gotta dash ive got to fill my van up...........
So all your company drivers have just "added" to the panic buyers?
Pretty much certain there will be fuel shortages before any strike materialises.....madness!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
At the last fuel panic I saw a guy fuelling his old Nissan. What was strange was that he was putting the nozzle into his doorway. When I looked closer I could see he was filling a huge white caged container.
I stayed well back when he left with a lit fag hanging from his mouth!:DThe man without a signature.0 -
Just been a filled up as I needed to anyway and Tesco was way busier than usual. I usually do £60 at a time but filled it to the brim tonight, I am fortunate that I only do 250 miles a month so I have enough fuel for the next six weeks whatever happens.0

We have some garages now selling at 1.50 -1.80 pence per litre they put there prices up when they saw the queues at places like Tescos Asda and Sainsburys it Fosse park had ran out Tescos had a delivery just before they ran out
Shell had a delivery but they close down the garage forecourt when they get a delivery so everyone was wating on the road outside creating a traffic chaos
And don't worry about fuel getting low there are always some garages that will charge £4 a litre like last time0
