Those with health problems or work/care responsibilities just can't take the risk of getting stuck.
This!
I'll confess that I took the Cefiro out to fill up last night (en route to Tesco mind) even though it hasn't moved for 3 weeks and was happily sitting there with little more than fumes in the tank as I hadn't gotten around to filling it up yet.
Why? My partner is disabled, but also the main earner in our household, and if her car breaks for any reason (and it is an 18 year old modified car used for a long distance commute) the Cefiro is the only other one she can drive. She can't drive the Mondeo any great distance as it's a manual and thus would cause too much pain.
Fortunately my local Shell hadn't increased the price on V-Power yet and V-Power is always the last tank to run out in a panic-buy scenario anyway.
The previous fuel crisis was never a problem for me, because my car was so old I just filled it up with 4-star, which never ran out.
Not going to rush out and fill up the Mondeo. The tank in that thing lasts me two weeks and it should all be over by then!0 -
I guess I'll have to fill the 20l jerry can up then. But for an extra 80 miles in the van, is it worth it?0

We always fill the cars a a quarter full and today was no different. However went to Asda and the queue was horrendous so didn't hang about.
Went back an hour later before going home and there were 3 cars at each of the 6 pumps. 143.7p for diesel at Asda and that's it filled until it drops to a quarter again.
No doubt some of those that were queuing won't need to fill up for another 3 weeks, unless of course they top up every 30 miles.0 -

Due you normally keep the jerry can filled up? If so then carry on as normal, if not then don't change.
My habit is to wait until the tank is nearly empty and then brim it as going to a garage is a bit of a detour, so to go more often is a waste of time and fuel. The Mondeo was filled up before all this kicked off and I wont be putting any more in just to keep it topped up.
This whole thing is just a ploy by Cameron to divert attention away from his screwing over of pensioners, disabled people, the NHS and all the other shenanigans he's been up to this week.0 -

Exactly, a quarter tank will last me a week - maybe slightly longer.
But, prices are going to rise - and in the spirit of money saving - get it while its "cheap"-ish. Particularly during panic buying.0 -
I just filled up my scooter at Shell Humberstone Park Leicester only 2 pumps in use selling Normal Unleadded and V Power Diesel only and the queue was Nearly half a mile long at 10:45pm in the evening and that garrage has 2 entrances but only one was being used and some Asian guy in a golf pushed in and Shop Attendent got angry there was a row and the attendent shut the pump down uintill he went and joined the queue propper.
Tescos in South Wigston I work there Had queues all day about 20 cars long BP down the road had ran out
It's not a 24 hour garage and they close at 11pm so some people in the queue might not be happy0 -
Talking about saving money
People queueing at Asda some of them have come from Miles just to get petrol and they have local independent garages now Asda at Leicester fosse park charges 3 pence per litre less than the local garage 3 miles up the road now people say you save 3 pence per litre at Asda but when you drove there 3 miles and waited in the queue with your engine running surely it must be cheaper to go to your local garage don't people want to save money like the wait at Shell was half an hour to and Hour local garage up the road was no queues so why wait or do people just love queues0 -
Both Shells in Cheltenham have run out(I noticed on my way from work) and Texaco had put prices up to 149.99 for diesel!! I have half a tank but work evenings and get home at the earliest 10pm and sometimes at midnight and it's over an hour's walk away(I can't ride a bike) so I will be filling up as normal Monday morning somewhere.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

It's normally 147.9 locally.
Cheapest is about 144.9, but for 3p a litre that's £1.80, so it makes no odds really.0 -
