The last time this happened wasn't a strike remember, it was lorry drivers blockading refineries over the fuel duty, people supported that. I can't see people supporting 2000 tanker drivers on 45k a year wanting more more.

Why do people keep quoting £45k? Apart from the media, who never make anything up.... honest ;) , where has this figure come from?

I know a guy who drives fuel tankers & spoke to him today... he's on £12.50 ph which is a lot less than £45k!

Re filling up it seems you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. It's easy to mock panic buyers but if there is any panic buying to be done I'm going to be first in the queue! Those with health problems or work/care responsibilities just can't take the risk of getting stuck. It's a vicious circle. Me I was due to fill up anyway and am pleased I missed the queues, garages running low and shameless profiteering by said garages. Oh and I note a certain smug satisfaction from the cyclists on here. Reminds me of an oh so green ex boss. She would question people as to why they had a car. But when she was visiting regional offices, she expected us to pick her up from the station and chauffeur her everywhere. I never quite had the courage just to give her a bus timetable. :rotfl:

The gubberment has caused this crisis and they are getting a jump in tax revenue, not cashing in then....again. And then the gubberment can give this tax revenue straight to the banks as QE money at 0.5%, then the bankster can use this to speculate on oil and fuel driving the price even higher and WHO will be hit by all the panic and price shock..... the PEOPLE.
Really if the tanker drivers go on strike the whole nation should take a holiday to drive a message to the gubberment and their friends, the banks, to show we're mad as hell and just wont take it anymore.

Oh and all this furore will take the short attention span public's mind away from the budget granny tax so the rich can afford a new porsche with their tax saving ; be a slave for the corporations for your benefit; TBTF corporations get reduced taxation and reduced competition as small business gets hit by rising costs like the postage hikes; and banksters and MPs are crime-less as they never smash windows with their thefts.

The idiocy has begun. Asda out of unleaded and shell totally empty and closed in Kendal today. I was forced to fill up (a bit) at an extortionate 142.9 at the expensive petrol station.
