With thanks to custardy and others who have already posted links.
I thought it best to have a dedicated postage thread rather than the few odds and ends we have currently floating about. Once this thread is up and running I'll close the other threads.
Firstly this is the current (2011) prices for comparison:

This is the new 2012 prices:

I'm wondering if ebay will be amending their postage limits in line with this?
if not, then I'm likely going to have to say goodbye to ebaying all my old junk as Car Booting it is going to be more profitable

They did move them a fraction last year, but I wouldn't hold your breath.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wonder if they'll amend the postage zones too.
I'm going to put my postage up a bit and the other costs into my starting price. I just hope buyers don't mark me down on postage. Many of my items are low cost and the postage is on a par with the price now. I can't send them all free p&P as it makes multiples really unattractive (and I sell a lot of those just now).
Trying to look on the positive side though, going to PPI through Royal Mail will save me 15p an item so I will be hopefully a bit cheaper than the unregistered business sellers who are my main competitors..
too many comps..not enough time!0 -
Just a heads up- The Royal Mail shop is currently out of stock of 2nd class large letter stamps.
Looks like the great stocking up has already started.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. the new price leaflet for airmail > 100g has europe, world zone 1 & world zone 2
squinting at the map it looks like world zone 2, which is more expensive, includes australia/nz0 -
after having a proper look, am REALLY not happy about the 0-750g postage
I sell a lot of 100-400g items and the jump in postage from 96p 2nd class (currently the lowest I pay on my lightest items) £2.20 is disgusting
over double the cost
also, 77p to 95p for recorded delivery option ON-TOP of the postage charge0 -
Will two first class still equal one large letter second? I'm not quite sure how the system works.0

I just went to look at this and yes, changing smallpackets from '100-200-500-750' to 'up to 750' will have a real effect for ebaying those light but bulkier than a LL items. Taking the second class price to over £2 will make it harder to sell those little low cost bits and pieces that might not seem much but all add up
I guess everyone's in the same boat but
