Found this funny, how the hell am i supposed to fit the small box into a post box? I'm going to take it to the post office, the only way it can be posted. should I email them to tell them this?
Re: amount of items, I've had 6 in a week but some on the same day.
Mongy
It happen to me and the answer I got was hand it in over the counter and record it as being posted in the box at the post office.0 -

This is standard practice for Royal Mail, sadly, and indicative of the poor practice prevalent within the organisation.
Even though you pay online, the transmission of that information to the Delivery Office is dealt with manually, and it's not always dealt with for a day or two even when it does reach them.
I've made formal complaints about the way this is handled before, but all you get from them, even at high level, is the usual platitudes, reassurances etc - but basically the message that 'this is the way we do it - take it or leave it'.0 -

In what way is it done manually?0 -
In what way is it done manually?
I quote below the response received following a complaint about the time it takes to deliver an underpaid item following payment of the surcharge online:
"Our usual delivery time for these items is two to three working days from the date of payment. This is how long it takes to process the information and notify the local Delivery Office that the item should be released."
I'm assuming there must be a lot of manual handling in there for it to take 2-3 working days between payment and the item being sent out again for delivery. If there isn't, it's even worse than I thought!
Why doesn't the online payment show up immediately in the Delivery Office, so that delivery can be made without this inbuilt delay?0 -

paid charge items are notified through the CLEO system.
The same system where customer complaints, redelivery requests (online and through CS) are logged.
DOs should be actioning those on a daily basis anyway (however in most this is down to managers to access/manage)
The only issue we found was the CLEO gives a redelivery date.
whereas a charge item could simply be sent out the next delivery day.
So if an office followed that delivery date, then there would be an artifical delay.
Charges take no time to do.

If it is one for Saturdayjust post it whenever and just log the time you posted it. I had one to post after 1 the other Saturday they just told me to post it before collection. I can't believe they cannot fix this on there system so it does not happen.0 -

Unless they say you must post at, for instance, box PE4 500 after 1pm (18:30 Sat collection, if you are interested) there is no way of managing it other than the way they have which is having it documented in the training and/or the FAQ and giving the same advice on the help line.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -

I've had items to post after 1pm on a Saturday as well when all the boxes I use have earlier collections. I just post them sometime before last collection (11.45). As I've said before, I was told that times are not as important as the item being posted on the correct day - I think the timings which aren't appropriate for some of us are there to cover boxes where there are more than one collection per day, as someone else said they do not know exactly where you are going to post until you enter it online. I was told I can post items anywhere within the BS postcode area, and that covers a huge area and no doubt includes some boxes/post offices that have afternoon collections on Saturday.2020 Wins:
