Just another £6.40 to go wireless :)

Another option open to you is just to run a clean install of XP Home SP3

Oh, is this something I can add at a later date if need be? Looks like something i'd fix inside?

I may give the clean install a miss....for now. At least until i've got all the data off of the machine.

You could do it at the same time as adding the graphics card.

You don't need it, unless you would like to have the router in another location, away from the PC.

A place by the PC is already being vacated :D

I'll think about it though as it does give me more options.

Had 3 emails today from the 3 companies/sellers where i'm getting all the bits from - all are on their way.

Already received the graphics card and I have a card from the post office for something else so it's likely the ram or router. I cannot collect until 2.30 though.

I may need some help later ::o

I'm sure that you won't. Everything you need can be found here.

Though perhaps you won't get the best out of it until the extra RAM has been added.

Once added, you can test it by downloading and playing some HD Content with Media Player Classic- Home Cinema.

You might even get away with smooth playback of 1080p content. 720p should be fine.
Of course, you are also dependent on the capabilities of your current monitor.

Thanks for the link. Will be very useful.

We'll see how it goes - will try the graphics card first. The package was the router - but no instructions :o

Here goes...

This isn't happenning.

The slot I thought it goes in fits.....but the back is too high for me to get the lid back on and when I start it up it just beeps and beeps to tell me there is an issue.

Sorted the back with a new bracket but PC beeps when I start it with graphics card in.

Moved monitor power supply from usual connection to new connection and doesn't beep but monitor doesn't load.

May have to put it to £30 lost and move on. I have to try and put this PC back together now or i'm the one shelling out on a new PC solely.

Edit: Now read I may need a new power supply or a 6 pin adapter or something - I have no idea but I think getting a new PC is going to be easier as nothing is working, plus I need to go on a PC building course so I can learn for next time.

Yay! Now the Router won't work. The manual says this and that should happen and it doesn't. Asking someone like me to sort stuff like this out.....nah! Already wasted a few hours and totally about something I was meant to do so i'm not in more than one persons good books now.

She can stick her video watching up her...:)

I've managed to get it all back connected again as it was. The worst thing is the RAM is under the CD drive which is secured in a few places unlike my last PC which had RAM slots in the open. I look forward to it and if that doesn't work, it's a new PC.

Thanks anyway everyone.
