Since it's not going to work efffectively unless you get the graphics card up and running, I'd invest another £20 or so and change the PSU-you are still way under the cost of a new PC, and you've learned a lot in the meantime.

It could be a plan. I just have to remember what screw goes where.

One final question, since putting in the RAM, the PC is making alot of noise again (the sort of noise it makes when it's working hard, a sort of whirring noise). I'm currently encoding a video so it is having to work, but last night it was happily encoding quietly.

Any ideas as to what has made it make alot of noise again. Surely not the RAM?

Just as a small update - since the RAM was installed, others have said that they can now have more applications open at the same time and together with the cleanup it has improved the PC's performance dramatically. No video/TV playback issues at all now. The loud noise has stopped as well.

A job well done. Thanks folks!

    Just back from the islands....

Apparently, there is a problem with some older Motherboards and these newer ATI graphics cards. So rather than tear your hair out trying to get it to work, return it to eBuyer and get the Nvidia card instead.

I'll purchase the Nvidia card then and see how that goes.

Is it a simple install or will I need to go into the BIOS?

    Thanks.

Since it's set to default to the PCI Express slot, it should be just a simple install and then to change the connecting lead to the new graphics slot and on to the monitor.
