I realise the tariff you are on and it ending in april 2010. It is a discounted rate. Be interesting to find out how many people in BG are actually on that tariff and how many are just paying standard rates.

I recall you pay around £2000 a year. Long Term UW Customer and Distributor.

Your power of recall is sadly lacking!

I would pay over £2000 if I were silly enough to have UW as my gas and electricity supplier. In fact I would pay UW £2,199; I pay BG £1,381.

Talking about powers of recall, have you recalled any more detail about your highly successful career as a 'projects manager' in the Ministry of Defence?;)

No you didn't, you tried to suggest it was only a problem that affected UW customers.....

I suppose we have to accept you will post misinformation like this, as you have admitted only come here to wind us up.

But for the sake of accuracy, here is the quote in full you say I was "trying to suggest it was only a UW problem":
And now we learn that if you take on their home phone, moving away to another provider isn't straightforward, as they take over your BT number but use LLU so that if you want to leave in the future, and have a standard BT type line it means possibly paying for a new installation!

Other companies do genuinely let you pay them for your BT line rental without (unknown to you) putting you on a LLU line, which means you cannot easily revert should you want to (contrary to what UW tell us - that if we aren't happy, there is no contract and we can leave at any time!)

Your ability to bluff would earn you a small medallion.

Well actually cardew you are incorrect, I was talking about the combined bill with Gas, Electricity, Telephone and Broadband. I pay around £600 a year with UW for all that including all the UW discounts for the combined package. For some strange reason you choose to ignore all the UW discounts but include the BG ones. I think £600 is rather good for my combined bill including Gas, Electricity, Telephone and Broadband and still less than half of what you pay for just Gas and Electricity alone.

I decided to come out of that career because industry in this country has been run into the ground to the point where there isn't really any manufacturing left to speak of apart from pharmaceuticals that is propped up by the NHS. Most of it has got sold to foreign investors.

It seems you think your own career is now as an Anti UWDC Vigilante. However it would suggest from the large amount of time you spend on this thread in an attempt to persuade people away from UW that you either have too much time on your hands and no life outside of the forum or you have a vested interest within the industry or the advertising companies.

But the context you made it in was different to the selective quote you have just made.

    Still winding us up!

You know it wasn't a selective quote, out of context (and others reading this will see).

The comment was made in a post I made pointing out that another uw rep had posted misinformation, suggesting that uw paid a £100 discount to their new energy customers. (You actually have to take 4 separate services for over a year to get the £100, (as you do have to take the very expensive energy, then the £100 is easily recouped by UW!)

    Here is the complete post:

More misleading spam from a UW rep.

They don't give £100 discount for becoming an energy customer at all.

To get this one off £100 (credited to your account after you have taken all services for more than 12 months) you have sign up to (and keep for more than 12 months) at least 4 different products - their expensive gas, their expensive electricity plus either broadband/mobile or homephone, plus become a member of their "club", (which itself costs over £21 a year - for what??).

And now we learn that if you take on their home phone, moving away to another provider isn't straightforward, as they take over your BT number but use LLU so that if you want to leave in the future, and have a standard BT type line it means possibly paying for a new installation!
  • I found this info at www.broadbandchoices.co.uk:

"LLU MAC codes do exist and increasing numbers of ISPs are now accepting them. They are in a different format to the traditional codes so not all providers will use them.

Even if you want to switch from one LLU provider to another, you’ll still be restricted to those companies currently supplying broadband from your local exchange.

The best way to find out if they’ll accept your LLU MAC is to ask them before-hand by giving them a call. If they don’t, and you definitely want to go with that provider, then your only option will be to cancel and disconnect your LLU line, and then have a new connection set up by your new ISP, and you will probably have to pay a connection fee for this."

Which suggests its not completely impossible to switch LLU - LLU, you just need to find the right supplier to move to.

No Quentin. You are just up to your usual practice of being selective in what you quote people saying because you are desperate to try to find something wrong. Instead of wasting your time and everyone else's, I suggest you go find something constructive to do.

If you consider me posting about your blatant attempt to mislead, then yes that is what i'm doing.

I have put the whole post up for all to see.

Tell us where I "blatantly attempt to mislead"?

(Ironic that you have no comment about my post being made in response to the UW rep's misleading post saying the UW gave a £100 discount for new energy customers - when in fact it is only for new customers taking at least 4 products!)

At least read the thread before posting in support of your colleage, the WUM!

He is complaining that I quoted myself "selectively" and out of context.

I have reproduced the post in full for his benefit.

Where is there any selectivity there?

But no comment from you regarding your misleading spam being exposed (regarding the supposed "£100 energy discount for a new customer")!

If you consider me posting about your blatant attempt to mislead, then yes that is what i'm doing. You seem quite happy to post untruths and misleading information here yourself and I don't think i've ever heard anyone squeal louder than you when challenged. I think you're the most hypocritical, manipulating, arrogant bigot i've ever come across on a bulletin board, and there's been a few. Back on ignore for you I think. ;)

Quentin has a reputation built up over many years for what you list. He will go out of his way to try to dig up a bit of dirt. LOL, I think Quentin holds the record for the most number of ignores on this thread.

Just posting abusive insults is par for the course for this uw rep.

This from the man happy to post the most disgusting and blasphemous insult seen!
