I found this info at www.broadbandchoices.co.uk:
"LLU MAC codes do exist and increasing numbers of ISPs are now accepting them. They are in a different format to the traditional codes so not all providers will use them.
Even if you want to switch from one LLU provider to another, you’ll still be restricted to those companies currently supplying broadband from your local exchange.
The best way to find out if they’ll accept your LLU MAC is to ask them before-hand by giving them a call. If they don’t, and you definitely want to go with that provider, then your only option will be to cancel and disconnect your LLU line, and then have a new connection set up by your new ISP, and you will probably have to pay a connection fee for this."
Which suggests its not completely impossible to switch LLU - LLU, you just need to find the right supplier to move to.
The network that UWDC uses for LLU does not as yet use LLU MAC. There are only a few companies that do in the country. UWDC would love to be able to use the LLU MAC system because it would also mean they can then easily transfer customers from other companies that use LLU MAC as well. It is not because UWDC want to make things difficult for a customer to move away it is because the LLU network that UWDC use is not on LLU MAC system. I know that there have been meetings taking place over the past months in regards to this issue. For the record I haven't had a single customer wishing to come away from UWDC Broadcall LLU since it was first introduced.
The LLU migration system should have been put in place when LLU was first introduced but it is BT Openreach and OFCOM that had control over that. Originally there wasn't one. The choice to go with the current LLU network UWDC use was made before there was any LLU MAC system put in place so there was no way of knowing what would happen in the future.

Just posting abusive insults is par for the course for this uw rep.
This from the man happy to post the most disgusting and blasphemous insult seen!
The Utility Warehouse bosses must be concerned by the way you represent them here!
Still trying it on Quentin. You have just proved us right again. You are just taking people out of context again in order to try to dig up some dirt. Because you don't have anything really valid to say, you have to resort to this treatment of people on here. You wonder why so many people have put you on their ignore list. To think that you have been known to break into the networkerplus site that is restricted only for UWDC Distributors shows the sort of lengths you will go to try to impair peoples reputation. For instance, the case with keggs that you selectively bring up.
You have been called a sad individual by a number of people in the past because of this sort behavior. For you it is normal behavior it seems.
Long term UWDC Customer and DIstributor.
Still waiting for that link to your UW beating cashback card you mentioned the other day. We have been waiting for years for that one.Quentin's Cashback Card?

New readers be aware that there a number of UW salesmen who wish this thread to be diverted from the embarassing(for them) subject of UW's high prices. This is what matters:There are a lot of UW salesmen on this thread trying to promote their product, so for the benefit of new readers, and existing UW customers, be advised that:
UW gas and electricity is just about the most expensive in UK and £hundreds more than the cheapest tariff - generally around 30%.
That fact can be confirmed by checking the tariffs in any comparison website or by comparing the tariffs yourself. Use the WHICH comparison website if you wish.
There is no need to listen to either side of the argument on this thread, just confirm the facts with any independent source.
As an example the average UK customer uses 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity. In my area(Midlands) that will cost £894 with the cheapest supplier, the cheapest UW tariff is £1,199. That is £305 and 34% more expensive if you are silly enough to have UW as your gas and electricity supplier.
To give a actual example, Essexmum(a UW customer) posted on this thread “my usage is Gas 20478 kWh pa Electric 8667 kWh pa precisely” and sought advice on how to save money – which strangely is what MSE is all about!
The cheapest tariff for her consumption in Essex would be £1,286.
The cheapest UW tariff would cost £1,753
So that is £467 more or 36% more expensive than the cheapest tariff.
She has now stopped getting her gas and electricity from UW – can you blame her?0 -
Oh Cardew - that will be your epitaph.
As a UW customer i am really feeling the pinch. Their prices are much higher than other fuel retailers - we have been with them for over 2 years and have seen the good and the bad. Its really bad now. We also have the cashback card, i shop at sainsburys, buy sainsburys diesel etc - it all helps but the UW remain expensive currently and the cashback savings do not bridge that gap.
I would not recommend them. We are going to change supplier once we have managed to clear the whacking great £1000  February bill that landed on our doorstep.2013 TARGET £30k
2012 £26500 paid off.
2011 £22750 paid off
2010 £19800 paid off

I post it every few pages so that anyone new to the Board and interested in money saving(the purpose of this Board) can find out about UW's very very expensive gas and electricity prices; and not have to wade through pages of who said what - to whom!!!0 -

And some of us thank you for it. I do not want to bash the distributors, I know they are promoting their own product - but for that reason they cannot be impartial. They cannot say (even if they think it and i think some of them do realise it) that their product is dear. The vast majority of UW distributers are fully aware of their very high gas and electricity prices; certainly the ones that come on this Board!
However they have spammed this and every other website that they can with misleading, disingenous and all too often posts that are lies.
Even worse are those who come on this board pretending to be satisfied customers.0 -
The inclusive phone calls (Their Not Free) they play on is not such a good deal as it might have been in the past either. Most landline suppliers offer some sort of inclusive call deal these days without the need to take extra services,or pay a membership fee.0

Forget about gas and electricity. If you want 'scary' this man was allegedly a Ministry of Defence projects manager!!
Come on Vinny, UW prices please - don't scare us any more!
I noticed he also avoided my question about customers on prepayment meters, are Utility Warehouse still The Most Expensive company in the UK, assuming of course we compare using the official figures for comparing usage. Not some weird 90% night rate E7 scheme.0 -

I think the point Cardew was trying to make was that we would all hope that a Project Manager at the MOD would be capable of a simple calculation that a £30 discount doesn't as Vinny suggested make me break even on a £1900 deficit.
Then again, we all know how many screws up on Projects the MOD make, so possibly it isn't so surprising that Vinny was in a senior position as a Project Manager, I still find it very funny though, just one of the reasons I pity the poor chap.
At least the country is safer with him as a distributor, can't say the same for his customers though, he just hates answering direct questions relating to the pricing structure of gas and electricity at UW.0
