Calm down dear, it's only utilities. I have not searched back though your previous post, you only made that post two days ago!

So you now want to start paying for your gas and electricity then, rather that getting them for nothing with UW as your supplier?

LOL. Have another read up and stop wasting people's time.

    Thanks Carmine,

It will be interesting to see what they set my direct debit at as I know I have never used more than £30.00 per month for electric and £45.00 per month for gas since being with UW, and as my new tariff is cheaper, the amount should be even less. I am slightly concerned that they will set my direct debit really high, and I wonder if I will be able to challenge this?
I switched to the same EDF tariff a few weeks ago. I can confirm that the direct debit is monthly. A separate one for each fuel. They have set mine £10 too low for gas and about right for electricity, though that probably isn't any kind of reliable indication as to what they'll set someone else's at.

I can't comment much on their customer service yet. I'm just concerned their website and online billing system might not be as good as Scottish Power's. I haven't had my account on the EDF website activated yet.

I did have a look at EDF's conditions etc for any possible "catches" as you asked, and posted about this yesterday.

There is one regarding a tie in, that Mech and Carmine may have overlooked:

There is one regarding a tie in, that Mech and Carmine may have overlooked:

6.You agree to remain on the EDF Energy Online Tariff Version 5 for each account until the Online Tariff Version 5 comes to an end, which, unless we write to you to advise of any extension, shall be 31 July 2010 (the ‘End Date’)

I haven't overlooked it, I've just read it properly. It's talking about what tariff you agree to keep your EDF accounts on. Not whether you stay with EDF at all. People on here seem to think that's really dodgy. I can't understand why. I've always assumed that I couldn't force a supplier to switch me to a cheaper tariff if one came along. This just formalises that sentiment in the T&C.

    I should imagine
I didn't imagine, I worked out the numbers for my requirements.

I imagine that if you changed your shopping habits completely, you could save money by being with Utility Warehouse and using the pre payment card too. But I don't keep harping on about it.

    i. All Telecom Plus Distributers must declare it when they post
ii. All workers or those related to other utility companies must declare it

I've declared it in line with Martin's request.

I don't think you are complying at all. When I sought clarification, I was advised that people in the industry should declare it at least once a day on fast moving threads.

Nobody in their right minds can possibly believe that UW offer Best Value when they are consistently one of the most expensive suppliers for the majority of customers in UK and even Which state they charge 20% more than the cheapest supplier.
I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my utilities than I would to any other combination of companies. Carmine is at present happy with his deal and others are also saving money in the way they see fit. A few exceptional people are doing their shopping and not paying any money for their utilities. How can Utility Warehouse be consistently one of the most expensive suppliers if people can pay them least?

There is a huge difference in being awarded a Best Buy award and the results of a customer satisfaction survey.

For a Best Buy award the services are tested independantly.

For a customer satisfaction survey, vested interests can vote for the company

Then of course you would probably argue that Cyprus always voting for Greece in the Eurovision song contest is nothing to do with a lot of Greek Cypriots living on the island;)

That's strange as this month I will pay UW less for gas/electric/unlimited broadband/phone line rental and ALL calls than I would pay for just the gas and electric if I was on your 4 and a half year old FIXED BG tariff. I have been with UW for just over 2 months and you have been paying that fixed rate for 4 and a half years, a period of time in which energy prices have risen approx 70%. How can this be, I wonder?

PS Your understanding of value for money is extremely under-developed, BTW. What car do you drive, if you don't mind me asking? Plus, of course, have you ever considered the customers who voted 5 out of 5 for value for money may, like me and several others on here, be using the cashback card to make it the cheapest energy supplier on the market as well as getting the very best CS in the industry? BG currently have a tariff that is consistently in the top 5 cheapest on the switching sites but still they achieved 1 star out of 5 for value for money. Any ideas how this happened, given your individual understanding of 'value for money'? UW distributors posing as BG customers and deliberately voting it down? I wouldn't put it past you to be thinking this, lol.

And didn't post all your figures here, only your own conclusion, doing what jimexbox was slated for ad nauseam. So imagining is the best one can do.

Well you imagine wrong too then. But you do keep harping on, that's for sure. Which of us posts to this thread the more often?

I've changed my mind about Broadcall now anyway. Not such a good deal if you have to get the gas and electricity to get all the call features. Probably better to switch to a phone and broadband package from another company with a less complicated system of discounts and cross benefits that doesn't try and tie you in to expensive electricity and gas. Then you could just get electricity or gas from UW, whichever has the least premium, and still get to keep the cashback card.
  • Precisely. If you took Cardew's theory of value for money as fact, why aren't we all driving round in CityRovers? Why haven't we all been using Tiscali for our phone/broadband for the last few years? First:utility and OVO would appear to be the cheapest G&E suppliers at the moment. Best value for money? Read the various threads on these 2 and judge for yourselves. Value for money is NOT just about being the cheapest. Cardew, of course, knows this because he has previously defended using BT for phone/BB due to the experience of friends who have switched to cheaper alternatives. But when he's trying to make a criticism of UW all his rational thinking appears to go out of the window.

And didn't post all your figures here,
I previously posted one month's numbers and was happy to multiply by twelve to the satisfaction of other members here. I have recently worked out that using a whole year's numbers I am saving about the same per month.
