Several people (including myself) have had email confirmation that this isn't the case, it's already been explained what it means, even though it's a stupid T&C. Nice to see you confirming the Big 6 have very dodgy T&cs though. First npower bamboozled you with their annual discount T&C and now EDF with this. Not sure why people would now trust your views on UWs T&Cs etc.after this latest faux pas.Call me Carmine....

One thing is certain - you will not be paying exactly for what you've used with EDF, but if you keep an eye on your usage and make sure the DDs are 'sort of' reflecting that usage you should be fine. The habit not to drift into is to stop reading your meter monthly due to not getting a bill every month with EDF - easily done.
Ps Due to that worrying 'guaranteed 2% discount on standard' T&C it's important you keep an eye on the tariff rate and make sure it doesn't creep up. Not saying it will but if they hadn't at least contemplated putting tariff prices up in the future, why put that T&C in in the first place?
Thanks Carmine,
It will be interesting to see what they set my direct debit at as I know I have never used more than £30.00 per month for electric and £45.00 per month for gas since being with UW, and as my new tariff is cheaper, the amount should be even less. I am slightly concerned that they will set my direct debit really high, and I wonder if I will be able to challenge this?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I'm rather confused now, (I blame the pregnancy hormones!!) But how have I not been getting free utilities from UW for the past few months. I have paid nothing for my gas, electric, phone etc due to my spending habits in Sainsbury's. My direct debit for September was zero, but I have been using UWs products. How is this not free? Thanks Carmine,

I'm rather confused too and I'm not pregnant. If UW is such a good supplier, why are you now switching after being a very satisfied customer for so long? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

As you know exactly what your consumption has been in the past and you will be paying approx £120 less with EDF than with UW (The £140 saving figure in all the comparison websites includes the UW membership fee) you should within reason be able to dictate what you pay.
Obviously bear in mind that your consumption will increase by quite a bit when you are at home all the time,(and so will your savings over UW) so factor that into the calculation for the level of DD.0 -
On the topic of uw reps generally using the net (and coming here) to pose as satisfied customers and paint glowing pictures, send in questionnaires etc, this comment from lovemoney is pretty damning:The problem is that so many people with a financial interest in Utility Warehouse spread false testimonials on the Internet that it's hard to work out how much is genuine, if any. If UW really does have good customer service it's become too difficult to ascertain based on feedback alone. A few greedy people have destroyed that possibility, which doesn't help them, Utility Warehouse or, of course, energy customers.0

If you've searched back through my previous posts surely you can see the main reason I am leaving UW as a gas/electric customer?
I have been a satisfied customer and I'm sure I will continue to be one in the future.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Calm down dear, it's only utilities. I have not searched back though your previous post, you only made that post two days ago!
So you now want to start paying for your gas and electricity then, rather that getting them for nothing with UW as your supplier? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Is this the same lovemoney who publish frequent articles on why now is the best time to switch etc ...and alwys include the link to their own switching site which I don't think I'd be libelling them by stating they clearly earn commission from every time one of their readers use it to switch supplier? Face it, everybody is 'at it' in this industry. The Govt have let a total free for all develop. Even if we accept that the industry just won't ever be re-nationalised, why not just have an official Ofgem-produced, not for profit switching site?
Edit: Just read the comments on the link billsavings provided. I must say that InkieSquid's attitude and posting style appear very familiar, lol.Call me Carmine....
