My new supplier and tariff is EDF and is called Online Energy v5.1

This is a special tariff that lasts for 12 months from its introduction (July 09).

Once on it you get a guaranteed discount of at least 2% off the EDF normal tariff, plus (in your case) another £50 (in the full year) for paying by DD and taking both fuels.

The tariff ends on 31/7/10, so you will get a pro rata amount of the £50 up to then. (This discount is applied on a daily basis, and deducted from each bill (not annually).

When the tariff ends you will be transferred to the standard tariff, and have to tell them if you wish to go to a different tariff when it ends. They will contact you to let you know about the new tariff they have put you on, if you want to change to another, they will back date the change to the date they changed you over.

If you decide to go on this tariff, then you are tied in till July 2010, after which you can leave without a penalty.

So forgive us if we need a large pinch of salt to accept what you have joined here to tell us!
As you are a master of misinformation or is it outright lies, I take your posts with more than a pinch of salt, you old bigot you. ;)

How about posting the link to your Utility Warehouse pre payment card beating cashback card?

There isn't any tie-in that I can see.

NigeWick who was your Quote to?
Quentin. If you look in between the quote words, you will see the name mentioned as yours is.

Anyway, as this is a money saving site and trying to get us back on track.

Yesterday, I went on the three switching sites mentioned on moneysavingexpert. Two of them recommended Scottish Power Online Energy 7 and the other recommended British Gas Web Saver 4 for my annual usage. As I am now getting between £25 and £30 per month (£26.79 last month) off my utility bills by using the Utility Warehouse pre payment card, I am paying a minimum of £7 per month less than I would for Scottish Power Online Energy 7. Because I take four services, I also get free calls to UK geographic numbers 24/7, not to mention the Nectar points in Sainsbury's and an easily understandable paper bill every month.

Detractors will not understand this, but, I basically shop the way that I always have, buying things I want or need at stores and prices that suit my requirements. I am happy saving money in a way that suits me because it is my choice.

If Utility Warehouse can work for me, it can for other people as well.

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

and it has been stated that UW do have the award for best buy in this months and last months magazine,

i sugest u shut up till u know what ur talking about.

They most definitely do not have a Best Buy award from Which for energy.

I know that is what a lot of UW ID tell their unsupecting potential customers.

I suggest you take the advice you so kindly offered in the last line of your one sentence post.

You agree to remain on the EDF Energy Online Tariff Version 5 for each account until the Online Tariff Version 5 comes to an end, which, unless we write to you to advise of any extension, shall be 31 July 2010 (the ‘End Date’).

    Is that not a tie-in?

But you can get those inclusive UK calls for £7.75 with MoreTalk 3 regardless. So the electricity and gas would have to be less than or equal to £7.75 cheaper from Scottish Power before UW was a good deal. Apologies if I misunderstand your figures, but they appear to be at least £18 a month cheaper with Scottish Power. So on that basis UW electricity and gas wouldn't be cheapest for you.
, not to mention the Nectar points in Sainsbury's and an easily understandable paper bill every month.
I'm not sure how being on paper makes a bill easier to understand. Worst case scenario with Scottish Power would be to print the bill out on a computer printer. Worth it to most people for a £120 a year saving I should imagine. With the added advantage that if you lose the bill you have a backup PDF of it and can print it out again.

PS And, yes, Nigel, SwanJon *should* reveal the fact he derives his livelihood from British Gas in this thread - to not do would be potentially misleading the reader IMO. I know he has always stated he doesn't post in an official capacity, but neither do the UW reps. One rule for one etc...

I've declared it in line with Martin's request.
How exactly would it be misleading to readers if I didn't?

Would it be like comparing putting in a reading on line each month with UW and a meter reader visiting every three months for every supplier (including UW)?
Would it be like saying that discounts from UW's competitors disappear after a few months?

Apparently no UW ID can do anything in an official capacity as they are independent, but some ID's have come onto this site to try and collect customers - either directly or by 'buying' them from other IDs.
There is nothing I could do here to gain financial benefit from what I say - unlike UW IDs (or even customers who refer other customers to UW - like Carmine)
