    Is that not a tie-in?
No it just means you can't choose to switch your EDF account to a different EDF tariff. It doesn't say there's any penalty for closing your account and switching to another supplier. It just says that if you do switch supplier you can't be put back on EDF's Online Version 5 tariff.

This is a special tariff that lasts for 12 months from its introduction (July 09).

Once on it you get a guaranteed discount of at least 2% off the EDF normal tariff, plus (in your case) another £50 (in the full year) for paying by DD and taking both fuels.

The tariff ends on 31/7/10, so you will get a pro rata amount of the £50 up to then. (This discount is applied on a daily basis, and deducted from each bill (not annually).

When the tariff ends you will be transferred to the standard tariff, and have to tell them if you wish to go to a different tariff when it ends. They will contact you to let you know about the new tariff they have put you on, if you want to change to another, they will back date the change to the date they changed you over.

If you decide to go on this tariff, then you are tied in till July 2010, after which you can leave without a penalty.

Already been established that there ISN'T a tie-in with EDF Online5. Do keep up, Quentin (and espresso, lol). As the T&C is curious I initially suspected it was a tie-in but unlike you 2 I took the trouble of emailing the company who confirmed THERE IS NO TIE-IN. You can move to another supplier penaty-free but can't then return to online 5 tariff. Bizarre T&C, but don't forget they're French.

Misleading info again, Q. Never mind.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • mech, the £7.75 moretalk only applies if you just have the phoneline and not broadcall. And I'm not sure it includes 0845/0870 and International numbers, either. HTH.

Don't you get 'your people' to find out things like that?

Confirmation there was no tie-in must have hurt?

Still I suppose the consolation was you could accuse Quentin of providing misleading info. Always a silver lining eh!

Hmm. Maybe Nige could ditch UW for phone then too. Plenty of alternatives. Isn't the cashback card available with just Broadcall?

No mention of them this time. There can't be many people who need that anyway.

I don't read every post on here, just scan for a laugh now and then. Well done for clarifying the [STRIKE]curious[/STRIKE] deliberately confusing terms of this tariff.

i do have copyright over my website and ......

You get exposed for your totally misleading advert, and instead of attempting to make amends for your deceit, try to assert your "copyright" over the ad!!

Just to ensure everyone appreciates what this is all about, I'll "infringe" it again.

Without mentioning uw on the page, you advertised you had a "few" remaining places for "caring people" who were required to distribute free products and services, for a reward of "A repeating monthly income you can bank on – for life."

As previously mentioned, your ad was complete misinformation, and surely only aimed at gullible people.

It's surprising the uw haven't had something to say to you about bringing their company into disrepute.

    This is from your ad:
Due to a huge upsurge demand in people wanting to save money, we need just a few more caring people 18 years or over, to help distribute some wonderful free products and services, work from the comfort of your own home, Car, office etc, part time or full time it’s your choice.

    Your Reward!

A repeating monthly income you can bank on – for life.

Yes, the cashback card is avilable with Broadcall but then of course you would be paying for your day/evening calls. Not a problem for you, I know (I think we established many moons ago UW is absolutely no good for you), but would be for others (myself included). Ditto 0845/0870 and International calls.

You're very welcome. Nice to see an anti-UW poster admitting a Big 6 company can be less than saintly as well (j/k).

Edit: The T&C to be really concerned about would IMO be this one:
EdF Energy's Online 5 tariff guarantees a discount of 2% on their standard prices until at least 31st July 2010, whether their standard prices go up or down.

On my usage in Yorkshire region the tariff is currently FIFTEEN PERCENT cheaper than standard rate. Should they excercise this T&C the online 5 tariff would increase by approx £165 per annum. Keep your eyes on this one if you've signed up...
