Welcome madjock77 or can I call you Jim

Let's hope a lot more UW distributors / happy customers put some input here. It's very hard to discuss anything here half gagged.

    Best wishes

i dont intend to mislead anyone that ......about the card :

It is a new type of card (not a credit card) - available exclusively to members of the Utility Warehouse Discount Club - which enables you to earn 5% CashBack on transaction charges every time you load it all your shopping at thousands of retail outlets thoughout the UK

You say you won't mislead, but come again with more nonsense, despite being already corrected.

You don't get 5% cashback at all - you have to pay £10 to get a card, then ongoing monthly charges plus transaction charges every time you put money on to the card.

And you deliberately mislead by saying thousands of outlets give you discount - 25 is nearer the truth.

Your uw rep colleagues will have seen your misleading posts but for whatever reason have not chosen to correct you.

Read my posts in this thread to learn about your card.

The links you refer to in my post were for the benefit of the posters trying to get some independent reviews of uw, not forbidden advertising!

    Hi again Jim

A lot is going on here but there a few people posting here who are more interested in nitpicking and being deliberately provocative rather than trying to add anything constructive about what UW offers its members. So, just be careful when you post again. To put it mildly they are nasty individuals.

  • Whilst Quentin is entirely at liberty to ignore my question as to what company he uses for his domestic fuel supplies, I think the fact he has speaks volumes....

Come on, Quentin, even if you are reticent about sharing this info with us at least give the 2 potential UW customers the courtesy of recommending an alternative company. Which one would you recommend?
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

Why pick on Jim? It's not just Jim breaking the rules.

It's your colleague Philip Ainsworth who has come here and managed to break the rules and post misleading advertising about uw in both of his first two contributions.

For once can a ‘detractor’ of UW make some points without collective emotive outpourings from UW representatives and their sycophantic troll.

Firstly as far as I am aware not even the most devoted UW rep seriously claims that they sell the cheapest gas and electricity. It would appear that a main selling point is that you won’t need to switch suppliers as you are a member of a club! There is a certain irony in that ‘advantage’ given that this forum(and a certain vociferous contributor in particular) strongly advocate multiple switching in order to gain cashback/champagne etc.

Secondly their inter-linked tariffs, services, incentives, conditions and membership fees are a minefield which it appears most UW reps find difficult to understand, let alone the customer. The ‘Big 6’ are justifiably criticised for their ‘confusion marketing’ but alongside UW they are a model of clarity.

Why should intelligent potential customers be unable to understand from a website what they are expected to pay for products without explanation from salesmen on this forum with strong vested interests.

Now uniquely as far as I am aware, we have a thread devoted to a company where many UW reps want to be able to *explain their product/sell their product/spam without any challenge.

    (*delete as required;) )

Quentin quite clearly has an agenda in that he actively dislikes UW, in the same way that some people dislike BG. That said, from what I have seen, his posts are accurate and he portrays a very different view of UW than that you would wish to see posted.

So why not challenge him on his facts, rather than personal attacks? Is he for instance correct about UW's Price Guarantee. Does it exclude internet accounts, xyz discounts etc or not? From what I have read it appears pretty meaningless; but has he misunderstood?

I, as stated above, dislike the ethos of the company, their selling methods and the hysteria generated amongst many of the reps. Typified by the “Proud to be a UW representative” signature block! As if it were a noble cause rather than selling a not very good value product, mainly to Friends and Family.

Yet stating these facts(Quentin) views(myself) have caused Quentin and myself to be cast in the role of bogeymen and continually attacked as being unfair – “You hate UW” "Nasty individuals" etc – is that not a little sad?

I now don’t read any of Carmine’s posts, but I have little doubt they will be as unconstructive as his input has previously been on MSE .

So let me make my position clear to any potential customer reading this thread. I simply cannot be bothered to read the ‘small print’ of UW tariffs – “but I know a man who does” and have confidence in his input. Before being persuaded by the vested interests on this thread, read Quentin’s comments on pricing carefully. After all this is a Money Saving Forum(for consumers)

If that suits you - then join the club!

    Hi Steve,

Yes I can see the nitpicking here, and that is a real shame don't get me wrong I am the first to say UW has its faults but having said that you show me any other company that does not have faults!

I look at it like this, we have grown into a culture where price is the king and I think that is wrong its about the level of serivce you get that you should look at also.

For me what makes UW stand out is this:
    • The one bill, direct debit and account number - I had seven direct debits, account numbers and phone number to call before!
    • The fact that when you call the one person can deal with you, and your not passed person to person!
    • The bills are very easy to understand and in four years I have never had a wrong bill from them
    • From a customers point of view you can speak direct to your local UW person if you wish - who can offer a personal serivce like that!
I know there will be people here who say..... yes, but, ah and I take that onboard but look at the credits UW have had from more than one media, the simple fact is this if you want a company to give you first class customer service then look at UW.

    Kind Regards

    Jim

    Completely agree Jim.

My advice to people has always been to decide for yourself whether what UW offers (the whole package) is of more value than any price difference between it and the so called major companies. Unfortunately you would think from some of the awful comments that UW was the cause of the credit crunch, the highest energy prices in history and every other economic woe in the country.

These same people have almost accused customers of UW as being 'soft in the head' for daring to even contemplate becoming a customer. They cosnider the idea of a club as a joke. But they've now been taken aback by the latest innovation - the cashback card. They are scrambling to find fault (however small) because they know they no longer hold sway with their ridiculous arguments.

I'm surprised they didn't have a go at the 2 people who genuinely wanted information in order to make their mind up. A couple of us did try to help but as you know we are hamstrung by the so called forum rules. This is the only thing now that seems to keep them going in their vitriolic attacks on both UW and its customers/distributors. Having ago at phylywhathis name (sorry couldn't remember it all) is a prime example. I hope more and more see through them.

    Best wishes
