So what log into my router? and if so what do I need to look for?

Have a look in your instructions, or google your router model. You will usually log in through your Internet browser by typing a specific 'log in' text in www. at the top. You will then be asked for your name, usually administrator unless you've changed it and a password. Again the default one unless you have changed it.

Then have a look at the options presented.

ADSL (BT flavour) is limited to 400kb/s for residential, and 800kb/s for business. So as your upload is 988kb/s, you're using ADSL2+.

Bruce thanks for this info, so based on this do you think given the fact I am a fair bit from the exchange that my broadband speeds are ok?

    Hi

I have read some of the previous posts. I am not anything to do with UW but have been with them for 6 months. Signed up really to help a mate.

So now we are moving so I was just deciding whether to move suppliers as I want to keep costs down.

So on whichswitch.co.uk plug in the details and on an existing spend of £1200 a year on elec and gas it says I can save £155 a year by switching, or £12.91 a month.

Now we do all our shopping at Sainsburys and get about £25 a month back on the discount card. (£500 a month or more on groceries)

    So benefits/disadvantages of changing:

Lose the single bill if we change.
We do meter readings and pay for what we use monthly, not sure if we can do this with the competition. This encourages us to conserve gas/elec!
Probably even stevens on the costs?
But convenient we do all our food shopping on the cards.
If people are being pedantic we are probably losing abou £10 a year in interest as the cards are prepay.

So I was pretty sure we would switch to get a better deal but if this is right I think we will stick with it.

If people are so virulently against it I must be missing something??

Why not go to the cheaper supplier, and get the shopping discounts via a different prepaycash card?

Then you'd have your cake and eat it!

It doesn't seem money saving to buy expensive products just to be able to reduce the net cost by using all your shopping discount to reduce the bills! (And still end up paying more).

And you could then use the cashback sites to switch to save lots more.
