Why not go to the cheaper supplier, and get the shopping discounts via a different prepaycash card?

Then you'd have your cake and eat it!

It doesn't seem money saving to buy expensive products just to be able to reduce the net cost by using all your shopping discount to reduce the bills! (And still end up paying more).

And you could then use the cashback sites to switch to save lots more.

Which card do you use, Quentin? You keep banging on about this but never back it up with any facts (and I KNOW you read my posts because you were caught reading one of my links not so long ago, lol) so don't pretend you are ignoring my posts, lol...

Anyone who frequents the Shopping snd Groceries section will also tell you that many many people are converting to Sainsburys as it is CHEAPER for them. Getting a very decent discount off their utilities for shopping at the cheapest supermarket seems like the icing on the cake, TBH..

@roblpm - if you aren't taking the phone line/BB/calls package in addition to the gas and electric you are missing out on an even better deal as you would then qualify for inclusive calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845/0870 and 10 international destinations for just £19.99 per month including line rental. Unbeatable...

Ps The 5% discount is also applicable to Sainsburys petrol/diesel/electricals/mobile top ups/gift vouchers for other stores but I'm sure you already knew that...

Pps There really aren't THAT many people on here so virulently aginst UW (maybe 4 or 5), they just post a lot, lol. The problem they have is they always used to argue against UW on price but the cashbcak card has sort of made them explore 'other' avenues (Quentin majors on the way it is sold now he knows that UW can more than compete on price and no other company gives you 12 monthly paper bills plus, as you have intimated you take advnatge of, the chance to basically pay by DD but only for what you have used)

I think most people are virulently against the false claims that UW make and the Modus operandi of some of their 26,000 reps.

As you state you are paying about £155 a year more for gas and electricity with UW on a slightly below average spend.

I wonder how many reps tell their customers(including friends and family) that fact?

Without question, with judicious use of the cashback card you can make considerable savings.

If UW simply 'advertised' by saying 'UW have just about the most expensive gas and electricity in UK, but you can offset those very high prices by using a cashback card' then it would remove a major objection.

Bear in mind that UW reps were pushing the false claims of low gas and electricty prices long before the fairly recent introduction of the cashcard.

Some people are virulently against just about any company you care to name. I loathe Ryanair because of the treatment my mother got when we travelled with them. I suggest you just go for what suits your own personal circumstances best.

Just out of interest (seeing as this must be the second or maybe third time you've posted this exact comment?), would you mind expanding on this and giving your reasons why?

I would have thought the revelations of how you are taught to sign up customers (using the worthless guarantee, and avoiding detail) would be enough to stop most people getting in touch.

Add in the deception - stopping strangers in the street and claiming to be lost, just so you can "reward" them for giving you directions by "saving them some money on their energy", using friends good nature to con them into "helping you" over a problem at work, just to allow you to sign them up etc etc.

And how about 'Lodger' also giving us his recommendation for the best energy supplier to hook up with?

So you will be telling all your customers:

'UW have just about the most expensive gas and electricity in UK, but you can offset those very high prices by using a cashback card' ;)
